Fox Announces Animation Domination 2025 Schedule; Abbott Elementary Renewed for Season 5

On Sunday, February 16, all-new seasons of Family Guy (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT), Grimsburg (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) and The Great North (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) debut, followed by new episodes of Krapopolis (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on Fox. Then, starting Sunday, March 30, all-new episodes of The Simpsons return (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT), followed by Family Guy (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT), The Great North (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) and Krapopolis (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT). Additional scheduling information to be announced.

We caught up with the cast of Grimsburg at New York Comic Con in October. We spoke with Jon Hamm and Rachel Dratch along with Alan Tudyk and showrunner Chadd Gindin. They told us what to expect this season, some great guest voices and much much more! Check out the videos!

Abbott Elementary

No surprise, but Abbott Elementary will be back for a season five in 2025-26 on ABC! ABC also has renewed breakout hit drama High Potential for a second season, after a strong fall and even stronger start in January. In Abbott Elementary, the workplace comedy, a group of dedicated, passionate teachers - and a slightly tone-deaf principal - are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible educators may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do - even if they don't love the school district's less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.

Abbott Elementary stars Emmy(R) Award winner Quinta Brunson as Janine Teagues, Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson and Emmy Award winner Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard.

Fox Orders New Animated Comedy for 2024; Netflix Picks Up Reggaeton Comedy Neon

Fox Entertainment

Fox has formally ordered the all-new animated comedy Universal Basic Guys/The Hoagie Bros. (wt) from creators Adam and Craig Malamut (Sports Friends, Game of Zones, The Champions) for 2024. The series will be co-produced by FOX Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television, with FOX Entertainment's Emmy Award-winning Bento Box Entertainment serving as animation studio. In Universal Basic Guys/The Hoagie Bros., brothers Mark and Hank Hoagies suddenly find themselves with no jobs when the Glantontown Hot Dog factory switches over to automation. Lucky for them, the town started a radical Universal Basic Income pilot program, giving all residents of Glantontown $3,000 per month with no strings attached. Now, Mark, Hank and the rest of their local buddies are once again kids in the summertime, overflowing with the perilous combo of free time and stupid ideas. This is a show about men trying to find purpose in a world where they're no longer needed.

Neon

Netflix announced a series order for scripted comedy Neon, from creator Shea Serrano, with Max Searle serving as showrunner. Netflix ordered an eight episode season. Neon stars Tyler Dean Flores, Emma Ferreira, Jordan Mendoza and Courtney Taylor. Neon focuses on three friends who move from a small town in Florida to Miami with the hopes of making it big in the world of reggaeton. The show chronicles not only their larger than life dreams but the harsh comic realities of attempting to make it in the music industry.

In Neon, Tyler Dean Flores plays Santi, a budding reggaeton artist who, with the help of his friends, Ness (Emma Ferrerira) and Felix (Jordan Mendoza) and A&R rep, Mia (Courtney Taylor) hopes to become the biggest reggaeton star in the world. Or at least make rent.

  • Fox has a new series in the works with a title that is, umm, interesting (and unless they're going for shock value or move it to a streaming outlet, we feel this could change before making it onto air). (Deadline)
  • Betty White recorded a last message just weeks before her death, just for her fans, and now her personal assistant has posted it on Instagram. (Deadline)
  • CBS has cancelled Bull a show that some people may not have even realized existed anyway, after six seasons. (TVLine)
  • Louie Anderson, known to TV fans mostly for his role as host of Family Feud, Life with Louie, and the FX comedy Baskets, died this week at age 68, just days after announcing he was receiving treatment for cancer. (CNN)
  • Tim Allen is returning to his role of Scott Calvin/Santa Claus in a Disney+ series. (SitcomsOnline)

WEEKLY PLANNER (JANUARY 15 - JANUARY 21)

  • American Dad! returns for a new season on TBS on Monday.
  • Decades has a binge of the classic series Batman this weekend.
  • Promised Land, which is not the same as and not to be confused with the Touched by an Angel spinoff that starred Gerald McRaney and aired on CBS in the late 90s, debuts on Monday on ABC.
  • Looking for some obscure and lost sitcoms to enjoy that have been available on streaming for a while, but we never actually mentioned here? All 22 episodes of the 1977-1978 sitcom On Our Own can be found on Amazon Prime Video, and four (out of six) episodes of the 1986 CBS sitcom Melba (cancelled after just one episode) are available on Crackle.

MeTV Spring 2021 with The Addams Family and The Pink Panther; Fox Orders More Duncanville, While ABC Goes Into the Wild with Comedy

The Addams Family

The MeTV Network is adding two classics this May, 2021. The Addams Family will air weeknights at 6:00pm starting Monday, May 3, replacing The Flintstones weekday airing. Not to worry, The Flintstones still airs Sunday mornings from 10am-11:30am, followed by The Jetsons at 11:30am. The other addition to the lineup is the animated classic The Pink Panther Show airing Saturdays at 7:30am during the Saturday morning animation lineup following Popeye stating Saturday, May 15. MeTV is calling it "Pink Panther's Party," while they call Popeye, "Popeye and Pals." Back to The Addams Family, it also was previously seen on ThisTV then later on Antenna TV. No other schedule changes are being made in May. View the full MeTV Spring lineup.

Duncanville

In advance of its second season premiere, Fox has renewed the animated hit comedy Duncanville, for a third season. From Emmy Award and Golden Globe winner Amy Poehler and Emmy Award winners Mike and Julie Scully, Duncanville follows a spectacularly average 15-year-old boy, his family and friends. Meanwhile, second season animated comedy Bless the Harts has been canceled. The Season Two premiere of Duncanville returns with a special two-episode debut on Sunday, May 23 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT and 9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT), after which the series moves into its Monday time period, following the debut of the all-new animated comedy Housebroken, on May 31 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT).

In the series, Duncan (Poehler) can see adulthood on the horizon: money, freedom, cars, girls... but the reality is more like: always being broke, driving with your mom sitting shotgun and babysitting your little sister. He's not exceptional, but he has a wild imagination in which he's never anything less than amazing. Poehler also voices Duncan's mother, Annie, and Emmy Award winner Ty Burrell voices Duncan's father, Jack. The series also features the voices of Emmy Award nominee Riki Lindhome as Duncan's 12-year-old sister Kimberly; Emmy Award nominee and Grammy Award winner Rashida Jones as Mia, Duncan's on-again, off-again crush; Grammy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Wiz Khalifa as Mr. Mitch, the universally loved teacher/guidance counselor, occasional gym coach and school nurse; Joy Osmanski who voices Jing, Duncan's six-year-old sister; and Betsy Sodaro, Yassir Lester and Zach Cherry as his friends Bex, Yangzi and Wolf, respectively.

When Nature Calls

ABC has Announced the pickup of new unscripted comedy series When Nature Calls (wt) based on BBC Studios comedy format. When Nature Calls (wt) is a laugh-out-loud, one-hour unscripted comedy series which looks at the lighter side of the natural world. Based on a BBC Studios comedy format, the show will surprise and delight viewers with what comes out of the mouths of majestic beasts, teeny-tiny frogs, beatboxing badgers and more within captivating, beautiful footage from all over the world. This new perspective on absurd animal antics is easy on the eyes and hilarious to the ears. When Nature Calls (wt) is produced for ABC by BBC Studios' Los Angeles production arm. Ryan O'Dowd is the executive producer for BBC Studios; K.P. Anderson is also executive producing. Premiere date and additional information about the series to be announced at a later date.

Fox Animation Domination Adds New Night This Summer; Bill Nye Returns with New Series on Peacock

Housebroken

This summer, Fox expands animation to Mondays, with the series premiere of all-new pet paws-itive comedy Housebroken on May 31 (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT), followed by Season Two of Duncanville (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT). A special two-episode second season debut of Duncanville will air Sunday, May 23 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT and 9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT), after which the series moves into its Monday time period. Featuring the voices of Lisa Kudrow, Tony Hale and Will Forte, animated comedy Housebroken follows a group of neighborhood pets and stray animals as they work through their issues inside and outside their therapy group. Housebroken is an irreverent look at human behavior, but told through the filter of an offbeat group of neighborhood pets. Throughout the series, the show centers on the pets' dysfunctional relationships and their skewed world view, while exploring relevant societal issues in fun and unique ways.

Duncanville

From Emmy Award and Golden Globe winner Amy Poehler and Emmy Award winners Mike and Julie Scully, Duncanville follows a spectacularly average 15-year-old boy, his family and friends. The adventures continue in the Season Two premiere of Duncanville airing Sunday, May 23 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT), when the Harris family takes their first vacation. The episode features Parks and Recreation stars Adam Scott, Aubrey Plaza, Retta and Nick Offerman making guest voice appearances. Other storylines in the new season include Duncan saying the one thing no kid should ever say to their dad, which shifts their power dynamic; Duncan and Kimberly being sent to therapy camp; Jing and Jack starting a child birthday band together, with Annie managing them; and Duncan racing stock cars. Catch up on Season One on FOXNOW and Hulu. Fox has not yet announced what will air at 8pm leading into the new Monday animated comedy hour.

Bill Nye - The End is Nye

Peacock has ordered science series The End is Nye, hosted and executive produced by Emmy Award winner and renowned science educator, engineer, author and inventor Bill Nye. The series is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio and UCP, divisions of Universal Studio Group, and Seth MacFarlane's (The Orville, Family Guy and Ted) Fuzzy Door. The End is Nye sends Bill Nye into the most epic global disasters imaginable - both natural and unnatural - and then demystifies them using science to show how we can survive, mitigate, and even prevent them. Brannon Braga (Cosmos: Possible Worlds, Star Trek) will serve as showrunner and executive producer and direct all episodes. Each episode takes a hell-bent dive into the mystery and reality of its threats, from viruses to volcanoes, asteroids to authoritarianism, and climate change to chemical warfare. Every worldwide catastrophe is abundant with thrills, but also hope and a way forward. The End is Nye offers a scientific blueprint for surviving anything that comes our way.

NBC Pulls Connecting... From Lineup; Fox Says The Great North to Air in February

Connecting...

NBC has pulled new comedy Connecting... from the lineup effective immediately. Only four episodes of its eight episode order have aired. Starting this Thursday, reruns of Superstore will air at 8:30pm for the next three weeks to close out November sweep. New episodes of Superstore will air at 8pm as planned. Meanwhile, Connecting... will have its remaining four episodes air online on NBC.com and on streaming service Peacock. The series was an ensemble comedy about a group of friends trying to stay close (and sane) through video chats as they share the highs and lows of these extraordinary times.

The Great North

Fox has announced its new animated comedy The Great North will premiere in February on Animation Domination, while also releasing the trailer. No exact premiere date just yet, though. The Great North is a new animated comedy from Bob's Burgers creator Loren Bouchard, Wendy and Lizzie Molyneaux and Minty Lewis. The series follows the Alaskan adventures of the Tobin family, as a single dad does his best to keep his weird bunch of kids close - especially his only daughter, whose artistic dreams lead her away from the family fishing boat and into the glamorous world of the local mall. The series will feature the voices of Alanis Morissette, Aparna Nancherla, Dulcé Sloan, Jenny Slate, Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman, Paul Rust and Will Forte. Stay tuned for an exact premiere date. A few weeks back Fox also announced their Monday (9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star) and Tuesday (The Resident and Prodigal Son) drama lineups starting in January, but no exact date was given.
