SitcomsOnline Digest: WGA Strike Officially Over; ABC Cancels Home Economics
Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This week, the strike is over... well, half of it anyway. We're learning when late night talk shows will be returning (hint: it's very soon), we have news of the cancellation of an ABC sitcom, and discovering a long list of series that will be removed from Hulu very soon, today to be specific. Let's get going!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- The WGA strike has finally come to a close, and late night talk shows are planning to come back on Monday night, but don't expect a lot of scripted material just yet as SAG-AFTRA still has an ongoing strike. (CNN)

- ABC has cancelled Home Economics, a series that was previously on the bubble. (Hollywood Reporter)
- Byron Allen made a $10 billion offer to buy ABC (and a few other things) from Disney, but despite that talk, it seems that Disney just isn't interested, yet, but that doesn't mean a sale is off the table. (Deadline)

(Deadline)
- However, Hulu is adding Moonlighting soon. (SitcomsOnline)

Moonlighting Coming to Hulu; Showtime Announces Date for The Curse

An '80s classic is coming to Hulu on October 10. For the very first time, all 67 episodes of Moonlighting, starring Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis, will be available to stream, complete with the original Grammy-nominated title track recording by Al Jarreau. Each classic episode has been remastered in HD from the original film source. When former fashion model Maddie Hayes goes broke and finds that one of her few remaining assets is ownership of the Blue Moon Detective Agency, she's tempted to liquidate it until she meets the quirky employees and gets involved in their even quirkier cases. The series starred Cybill Shepherd, Bruce Willis, Allyce Beasley, and Curtis Armstrong.

Showtime announced that its highly anticipated series The Curse will premiere on streaming and on demand for all Showtime and Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers on Friday, November 10, before making its on-air debut on Showtime on Sunday, November 12, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Showtime also has unveiled an expanded look at images from the series, which will have its world premiere at the 2023 New York Film Festival on Thursday, October 12, screening the first three episodes. The Curse is a genre-bending series that explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive a child while co-starring in their new home-improvement show. The series stars Emma Stone (La La Land), Nathan Fielder (The Rehearsal) and Benny Safdie (Oppenheimer). Guest stars include Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi, Emmy nominee Corbin Bernsen, and Constance Shulman.
