AXS TV Acquires Nashville; MGM+ Rebooting Robin Hood
Go deep inside the drama of Music City, as the Emmy(R)-nominated series Nashville begins airing on AXS TV, Monday, September 30. AXS TV will broadcast all six seasons of the popular Country music drama series, giving viewers complete access to every show-stopping song, jaw-dropping twist, and all-star appearance that helped make the program a global sensation, while garnering acclaim from fans and critics, alike. Originally debuting on ABC in 2012, Nashville brings to life the tremendous highs and devastating lows of the cutthroat Country scene, as a group of artists struggle and strive to make their way in the town known as Music City. The series stars Connie Britton as Country Queen Rayna Jaymes, an industry icon fighting to stay on top as a new generation of up-and-coming musicians - led by talented but troubled songstress Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) - light up the charts. In addition to its captivating plots and unforgettable performances, Nashville brings the realism to life with special guest appearances by an impressive roster of Country music megastars including Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan, Kacey Musgraves, Thomas Rhett, and Trisha Yearwood, among others; as well as rock trailblazers Steven Tyler and Elton John; pop standouts Christina Aguilera and Kelly Clarkson; and many more. Nashville will air on AXS TV, Monday through Friday at 2P ET and 11P ET, starting September 30.
Premium linear channel and streaming service MGM+ announced a new drama series order for Robin Hood, in which the classic tale of the roguish outlaw hero who stole from the rich and gave to the poor gets reimagined into a smart, sweeping, romantic adventure. The series comes from Lionsgate Television with showrunner John Glenn and producer director Jonathan English (Librarians: The Next Chapter) at the helm. Glenn and English also serve as writers and executive producers, alongside Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures. Carly Kleinbart and Nicole Bryant will oversee the series for Hidden Pictures. Robin Hood will shoot its ten-episode first season at PFI Studios in Serbia, with production beginning in February. Robin Hood is slated to premiere on MGM+ later next year.
Robin Hood brings a modern energy to the classic tale of the roguish outlaw hero who stole from the rich and gave to the poor, and the epic love story between him and a courageous and daring Marian. It is a smart, sweeping, romantic adventure that brings historical authenticity, psychological depth, and a heightened focus on the relationship between Rob and Marian to the beloved story. Following the Norman invasion of England, Rob - a Saxon forester's son - and Marian, the daughter of a Norman lord - fall in love and work together to fight for justice and freedom. As Rob rises as the leader of a band of rebel outlaws, Marian infiltrates the power at court, as both work together to thwart royal corruption and bring peace to the land.
