Lifetime Orders Christmas in the Spotlight; Hulu Sets Murdaugh Murders Series

Lifetime greenlights Christmas in the Spotlight as part of the network's 2024 It's A Wonderful Lifetime movie slate, starring Jessica Lord (Find Me In Paris, The Next Step), Laith Wallschleger (The Rookie, All American), Emmy award winning host and producer Jeannie Mai and TikTok content creator and influencer Haley Kalil (haleyybaylee, 23M followers across social platforms), who makes her television debut. Christmas in the Spotlight is a holiday romance that explores the possibility of a love that can shine even under the bright lights of fame.
Christmas in the Spotlight follows Bowyn (Lord), a popular musician and celebrity, who despite always singing about love and relationships, hasn't found Mr. Right yet. Her fame and busy recording schedule make it nearly impossible to date, but when she meets Drew (Wallschleger), a pro football player, backstage at her show with his niece, there's an undeniable spark between the two of them. When Drew publicly declares he has a crush on Bowyn, they decide to give dating a shot, much to the excitement of her manager Mira (Mai). With each passing day they spend together, their feelings grow stronger... but can it last in the limelight, especially when they both have such hectic schedules? With people questioning if their feelings for each other are real or just for show, the pressure mounts from the press, paparazzi, their fans and even their family, including Drew's sister-in-law, Nicole (Kalil). The pair has until the end of the holiday season to decide if they want to stay together, or let it go down in flames.

Hulu announced a limited series order for drama project Untitled Murdaugh Murders, from co-creator and showrunner Michael D. Fuller (Quarry, Rectify and Locke & Key) and co-creator Erin Lee Carr (Britney vs Spears, I Love You, Now Die and Mommy Dead and Dearest), starring Patricia Arquette as Maggie Murdaugh. Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund for Eat the Cat will executive produce along with Mandy Matney. UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio. The series is based on Maggie and Alex Murdaugh's stranger-than-fiction family drama, a riveting account drawing from countless hours of reporting by Mandy Matney - journalist and creator of the popular "Murdaugh Murders Podcast" - as well as exclusive, insider knowledge from years spent following the case.
