SitcomsOnline Digest: Steve Carell and Tina Fey to Star Opposite Each Other in Netflix Series; Delta Burke Talks About Designing Women

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This week, we're hearing about a new Netflix series that brings two former NBC Thursday night stars together, learning more about Delta Burke's exit from Designing Women (over 3 decades later), and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB

  • Steve Carell and Tina Fey are set to star opposite each other in the upcoming Netflix comedy series The Four Seasons. (Deadline)
  • Delta Burke recently talked about her exit from Designing Women in a podcast, which included a period where she turned to crystal meth to try to lose weight. (Entertainment Weekly)
  • A season premiere date has been set for the game show Lingo at CBS. (Deadline)
  • Even though the final new episode aired in 2021, reruns of Judge Judy (which somehow still does incredibly well relative to daytime broadcast TV ratings) have been picked up through 2026 in syndication. (Variety)
  • For the first time since he was fired by the network 19 years ago, Dan Rather is set to return to CBS News as the subject of an interview about his career at CBS News. (The Hollywood Reporter)
  • Bob Hearts Abishola just barely got a renewal this season, but it will live on in reruns for at least a bit longer as it heads to syndication (which is a much smaller deal than streaming anymore) in the fall. (SitcomsOnline)

WEEKLY PLANNER (APRIL 27 - MAY 3)

  • Catchy Comedy has a Gomer Pyle, USMC binge this weekend.
  • The season (and likely series) finale of Lopez vs. Lopez airs Tuesday on NBC.
  • Ghosts also has a season finale Thursday on CBS, but it will be back next season.
