SitcomsOnline Digest: CBS Planning New Late Night Strategy; Fawlty Towers Reboot in the Works

 Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! Once again, we have a lot going on, with the cancellation of a late night talk show, a new comedy starring Ted Danson, and more. Let's get going!

  • Rather than find a replacement for James Corden, it seems CBS has decided to completely cancel The Late Late Show, and will replace it with a reboot of @midnight. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • It looks like Mike Schur is trying another comedy with Ted Danson. (Deadline)
  • Uncoupled is headed for a second season at Showtime (or is it Paramount+ with Showtime?), as Showtime is starting to head a different direction. (Deadline)
  • You may be watching The Conners, but Roseanne is definitely not. (TVLine)
  • For fans of British comedies, Fawlty Towers is apparently getting a reboot... somewhere (but not BBC). (Variety)
  • Much like many of the actual reboots of series that we see on TV, the series Reboot did not survive to see a second season, even with attempts to find it a new home. (AV Club)
  • Disney is at least considering selling Hulu. (Variety)
  • Actor Charles Kimbrough has died, and much like when his wife (Beth Howland) died. (SitcomsOnline)

  • Decades has something a little different for this weekend's binge, with Blondie movies, but all 26 episodes of the 1957 NBC sitcom starting Sunday at noon.
  • Animal Control debuts Thursday on Fox.
  • The Super Bowl may be on Sunday, but Antenna TV has an alternate option with a marathon of Designing Women.

When Emmett sees Bobbie drowning in work, he devises a clever ruse to give her a much-needed day off fishing, all under the guise of reviving the tavern's Fish Fry Mondays; Isabella dives into the world of bartending with Gabby.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place - "When You Wish Upon A Squonk" (Disney Channel, 8:00PM ET/PT)
After finding out about the prophecy, Billie avoids using magic, but when a magical creature causes mayhem in the Russo house, Billie worries it's still her fault.
