• Rather than find a replacement for James Corden, it seems CBS has decided to completely cancel The Late Late Show, and will replace it with a reboot of @midnight. (Hollywood Reporter)
• It looks like Mike Schur is trying another comedy with Ted Danson. (Deadline)
• Uncoupled is headed for a second season at Showtime (or is it Paramount+ with Showtime?), as Showtime is starting to head a different direction. (Deadline)

HBO Max and Hulu to Share Streaming Rights to Abbott Elementary; Reboot Gets Premiere Date

HBO Max and Hulu will share the co-exclusive streaming rights to complete seasons of the Emmy® Award–nominated comedy series Abbott Elementary. Created by and starring Quinta Brunson from Warner Bros. Television and 20th Television, the full 13-episode first season will debut August 20 on HBO Max. New audiences can experience the acclaimed series for the first time or viewers can catch up on HBO Max and Hulu before it returns for season two Wednesday, September 21, at 9:00 pm ET/PT on ABC. As part of an existing agreement with ABC, Hulu will continue to make current season episodes available the day after each broadcast premiere. These new episodes plus prior seasons will remain on Hulu and complete future seasons will be available to stream on HBO Max before the next season premieres on ABC.

The breakout hit of the 2021–22 broadcast television season, Abbott Elementary was recently nominated for seven Emmy® Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, lead acting and writing nominations for Quinta Brunson, supporting acting nominations for Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, and Sheryl Lee Ralph, and for casting. is a workplace comedy about a group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal — who are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district's less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children. Quinta Brunson created and stars as Janine Teagues and she serves as executive producer of the series. In addition to Brunson, the cast includes Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson, and Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard.

We have a date for the premiere of Reboot! Hulu released first look images from their upcoming eight-episode original comedy series Reboot from the Emmy-winning co-creator of Modern Family Steven Levitan. The series will premiere on Hulu on Tuesday, September 20 with two episodes. New episodes stream weekly. The series reboots an early 2000's family sitcom, forcing its dysfunctional cast back together. Now they must deal with their unresolved issues in today’s fast-changing world. Reboot Premieres Fall 2022 on Hulu; Abbott Elementary Fan Experience in San Diego

Reboot, from the Emmy-winning co-creator of Modern Family Steve Levitan will premiere in Fall 2022. Reboot stars Keegan Michael-Key, Judy Greer, Johnny Knoxville, Paul Reiser, Rachel Bloom, Calum Worthy and Krista Marie Yu. The series was created by Steven Levitan, who serves as an executive producer alongside Danielle Stokdyk and Jeff Morton. Reboot is produced by Steven Levitan Productions and Twentieth Television. In the comedy, Hulu reboots an early 2000's family sitcom, forcing its dysfunctional cast back together. Now they must deal with their unresolved issues in today's fast-changing world. In the series premiere, when a young writer sells the pitch for the reboot of an early 2000's sitcom, the show's actors must come back together and face their unresolved issues. Abbott Elementary season two premieres Wednesday, Sept. 21 (9:00-9:31 p.m. EDT). SitcomsOnline Digest: Fuller House Comes to Cable TV; Paramount+ Getting South Park and Beavis and Butt-Head Reboot

There is a lot of stuff going on this week (we have about twice as much news as we normally do, and we even had to cut some of it out), including the debut of Fuller House on cable, the end of a popular FX series, and a big change that's still a few years away for new episodes of South Park. • Fuller House is about to make a debut on cable, as it joins the GAC Family lineup in a little over a week. (People)
• It's honestly perplexing that CBS sold the streaming rights to South Park to HBO Max anyway given that they were developing their own streaming service at the same time, but in 2025, South Park will move to Paramount+ not only for the library of episodes but new episodes will also debut there instead of Comedy Central (and the new Beavis and Butt-Head reboot, which was planned for Comedy Central, will air there as well). • Paul Reiser, who has starred in a TV reboot himself, is set to be part of the cast in the new Hulu comedy Reboot that is about a TV show being rebooted. (Variety)
• A reunion for Martin is set, for BET+. (TVLine)
• Season 3 is still over a month away, and season 4 is even further off, but both seasons of the FX series Atlanta have already been completed, and they'll also be the last seasons. (Hollywood Reporter)
• However, sister network FXX sees "no end in sight" for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (which has already dethroned The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet for longest live action comedy) and Archer. (Deadline)
• CBS has ordered a comedy pilot about high school newspaper reporters who are left as the only news outlet in a small midwestern town after the local newspaper goes out of business. (Deadline)
• It seems that toxic workplaces have been a theme among daytime talk shows, and now Dr. Phil is the one being accused. (Deadline)
• How I Met Your Father is getting a second season at Hulu. (SitcomsOnline)

• There is finally a season premiere date for the 25th season of South Park, something fans have been waiting for since 2019 (it seems they're calling the string of specials that have aired over the past two years "season 24"). (Variety)
• It seems that a Quantum Leap sequel had been ordered at NBC, but if it makes it on air, will it become another reboot/sequel that we spend years talking about, only to see it cancelled very quickly? (Entertainment Weekly)
• And then there's a Life Goes On sequel in the works at NBC too, which will seem to focus mostly on Kelly Martin's character. (Deadline)
• If the reboots weren't enough, why not go even more meta and create a whole Hulu sitcom about people trying to reboot a sitcom? And will it get a reboot someday itself? (Deadline)
• Feeding on the popularity of binge watching, Fox will debut their newest sitcom, Welcome to Flatch, both linearly on TV as well as placing the first seven episodes online immediately on the same day. (Deadline)
• It isn't quite in time for her 100th birthday, but NBC has a Betty White special planned for the end of the month. (Hollywood Reporter)

Hulu Orders Reboot, Sitcom About a Sitcom Being Rebooted; Emily in Paris Renewed for Season 3...and Season 4!

Hulu has ordered the Original comedy Reboot, from creator and executive producer Steve Levitan and 20th Television to series. Judy Greer will star opposite previously announced Keegan-Michael Key and Johnny Knoxville, replacing Leslie Bibb in the role of Bree. Steeped in the irony of the television industry's continuing inclination to "reboot" hit shows from the past, the series begins when Hulu reboots an early 2000's family sitcom, forcing its dysfunctional cast back together. Now they must deal with their unresolved issues in today's fast-changing world.

The series will feature an all-star lineup of comedic talent including Keegan-Michael Key as Reed Sterling, a fussy actor on the fictitious family multi-cam sitcom, Step Right Up, who graduated from the Yale school of drama and resents the show for ruining his career; Johnny Knoxville as Clay Barber, a dark and filthy standup comedian who's only real acting job was on the same bright and sunny sitcom; Judy Greer as Bree Marie Larson, a small-town pageant girl who always dreamed of being an actress and a princess and both somehow came true; Rachel Bloom as sitcom writer with a "fresh take," Hannah; Calum Worthy as Zack, the hyphenate movie star/hip-hop artist; and Krista Marie Yu as a tech exec turned television creative exec, Elaine. Series creator Steve Levitan (Modern Family) will serve as writer, executive producer and showrunner. John Enbom, Danielle Stokdyk and Jeff Morton also serve as executive producers. Reboot is produced by 20th Television for Hulu.

Bonne Année, Emily! Emily in Paris has been renewed for season 3... ans also season 4! Season 2 was released on December 22 debuting on the Global Netflix Top 10 and topping the list across 94 countries with 107.6M hours viewed (Dec 22 - 26). Season 1 also made the Global Top 10 reemerging on the list across 53 countries. From Creator/Executive Producer/Writer Darren Star is this comedy that has Emily, an ambitious marketing executive from Chicago, unexpectedly landing her dream job in Paris when her company acquires a French luxury marketing company - and she is tasked with revamping their social media strategy. Emily's new life in Paris is filled with intoxicating adventures and surprising challenges as she juggles winning over her work colleagues, making friends, and navigating new romances.
