SitcomsOnline Digest: GAC Family Adds Facts of Life to Lineup; More Possible Daytime TV Cancellations
Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! It's a challenging week for us because the news has been dominated by the punch that everybody saw (and there isn't really much need for us to cover the obvious), but we do have some news for you, including more daytime TV cancellations and another addition to GAC Family. Let's get going!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- GAC Family is adding The Facts of Life to their lineup starting today. (GAC Family/Instagram)
- Is Michael Che leaving Saturday Night Live? It sounds like he could be, or maybe just the Weekend Update segment (though he doesn't appear much elsewhere on the show). (Deadline)
- Daytime broadcast TV is going through a major transition that really isn't getting a whole lot of attention (maybe since nobody is watching it as much as they used to) with the end of Maury, Ellen, Judge Jerry, and more, and now there are rumblings that the talk show The Doctors may be coming to an end after 14 seasons, as well as Daily MailTV. (Deadline)
- Drew Barrymore, however, isn't going anywhere, at least not for next season. (TVLine)
- Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel did a little bit of "show swapping" last night. (Hollywood Reporter)
- Chuck Lorre had his 700th vanity card this past week. (Deadline)
- We are getting a sneak peak at NBC's summer plans. (SitcomsOnline)
WEEKLY PLANNER (APRIL 2 - APRIL 8)
- GAC Family continues to add more classic sitcoms to their lineup, with The Facts of Life now joining the lineup, starting with an all day marathon today (and every Saturday for the next few weeks).
- The Grammy Awards air tomorrow on CBS, and although we imagine it will be an ordinary show, ratings could be "punched up" after what happened at the Oscars last week.
- Decades has a binge of Vega$ this weekend.
