SitcomsOnline Digest: Patricia Heaton Eyes a Return to TV With CBS Sitcom; VEI Announced Bad News Bears TV Series DVD Release
- Patricia Heaton may be taking a little time off from work for now, but she's ready to jump back into action with yet another new sitcom that is in development at CBS, Carol's Second Act. (Variety)
- First, Emmy Rossum announced she was leaving Shameless, and now Cameron Monaghan has announced the same, leaving people to wonder how the show can go on with the existing characters. (Entertainment Weekly)
- Actress Peggy McCay, who is mostly known for her long-running role on Days of Our Lives but also had guest starring roles in numerous sitcoms and primetime dramas, has died at age 90. (Hollywood Reporter)
- Even if it was a memorable series that is still watched to this day, Steve Carrell says that new episodes of The Office wouldn't work in today's social climate. (Deadline)

HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS

- It's been a very long time since VEI first announced they would be releasing several series from the CBS library on DVD, but they're still chugging along and getting them out, with the short-lived The Bad News Bears - All 26 Episodes announced this week. It will be released on October 31.

- Decades continues their Halloween themed weekend binges this weekend, with a marathon of Ghost Story/Circle of Fear.
- Seth Meyers returns to his roots at Saturday Night Live tonight as the host.
- The Alec Baldwin Show will officially premiere Sunday night on ABC, with guests Robert De Niro and Taraji P. Henson.
- We're not done with fall premiere season, as the ABC Tuesday night lineup is nothing but season and series debuts, featuring The Conners, The Kids Are All Right, black-ish, Splitting Up Together, and The Rookie.
