Jim Carrey Comedy and Shameless Premiere Sept. 9; Sabrina Star Gets GSN Game Show
Kidding centers on Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles (Carrey), an icon of children's television and a beacon of kindness and wisdom to America's impressionable young minds and the parents who grew up with him. But when this beloved personality's family begins to implode, Jeff finds no fairytale, fable or puppet will guide him through this crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. The result: A kind man in a cruel world faces a slow leak of sanity as hilarious as it is heartbreaking. The series also stars Oscar(R), Emmy(R) and Golden Globe nominee Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon), Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Catherine Keener (Get Out) and Judy Greer (Married). Throughout the season, Jeff begins to push back against the limits of the well-oiled machine that is "Mr. Pickles' Puppet Time," and of his executive producer, Seb (Langella). Seb fears Jeff's mental state could ruin the branding empire they've built, and thus begins preparing the show for a life after Jeff, while Deirdre (Keener), the head puppet maker, grapples with her own personal and professional life issues. Greer stars as Jeff's estranged wife and their son is played by Cole Allen. Guest stars include Justin Kirk (Weeds) and Ginger Gonzaga (I'm Dying Up Here, Wrecked).

SitcomsOnline Digest: Roseanne Reboot Casts David and Darlene's Daughter; The CW Developing New Series Based Upon Sabrina Character
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- The role of David and Darlene's daughter for the Roseanne reboot has been cast, and it's sort of a surprising pick, as it is somebody who has experience playing a regular role as daughter in a far more dysfunctional family: Emma Kenney, who plays Debbie, on the Showtime series Shameless. (Deadline)
- We're not quite sure we can call this one a reboot, but a series based upon the character Sabrina (the teenage witch, of course) is in development at The CW, but even though it'll be based upon the same character that the popular sitcom that starred Melissa Joan Hart was based upon, it will be a much different series that is a dark drama. (Variety)
- Saturday Night Live has set the first few hosts of the new season, and Kumail Nanjiani is among them. (Variety)
- The ratings for the Emmy Awards were even worse this year than last year. (CNN)
- Jimmy Kimmel has been making headlines in the past week by doing something that is completely unexpected and out of the ordinary for his late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and that is taking a stance on a political issue… and he is hitting harder than any of the other ones. (Variety)
- Not only is Will & Grace coming back on NBC, you can also catch up on the original series now on Hulu. (SitcomsOnline)
HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
- We can't quite figure out what Sony is trying to do here, but it seems that the first four seasons of Rules of Engagement will be released in Rules of Engagement - Seasons 1-4 Collection (meaning it excludes the fifth and sixth seasons that were previously released, as well as the seventh that was never released).
- Warner Archive is going full steam ahead with The Jamie Foxx Show, with The Jamie Foxx Show - The Complete Fourth Season, set for an October 24 release.
TUESDAY (SEPTEMBER 26) HOME MEDIA RELEASES

- Ned and Stacy - The Complete Series (DVD, $44.99): Shout! Factory brings all 44 episodes of this series to DVD in this collection.

HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
- Mill Creek announced long ago that they would be re-releasing Quantum Leap on DVD, but perhaps the most pleasant surprise that may have gotten overlooked in that announcement is that they will also release it on Blu-ray, and best of all, the new release will include most of the original music in the episodes, which was lacking in the original Universal releases. The releases will arrive on February 7. TVShowsOnDVD.com has more on this.
- Mill Creek has also announced that they'll be re-releasing 227 - The Complete First Season on February 7, though there do not seem to be any plans for releasing any of the remaining four seasons at the moment.

- William H. Macy is the bigger name and officially considered the star of Showtime's Shameless, but many who watch the show know that the plots and stories are often much more dependent upon Emmy Rosum's character Fiona, and now she not only wants equal pay to Macy, but actually more than his. (Hollywood Reporter)
