FX Premieres New George Lopez Sitcom on March 6; TV Land Orders Jaime Pressly Sitcom

We have a launch date! The series premiere of FX's newest 10/90 model comedy, Saint George, has been set for Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT. Saint George is a half-hour, multi-camera ensemble comedy that follows the chaotic life of George Lopez, a recently divorced working class Mexican-American turned successful entrepreneur caught between two cultures. He struggles to balance the parenting demands of his All-American Anglo ex-wife, Mackenzie, and the cultural expectations of his overbearing Mexican-American mother, Alma. As George attempts to relate to his 11-year-old son, Harper, his life is further complicated by his fun-loving but freeloading uncle Tio and cousin Junior. As a wealthy businessman, George also gives back by teaching history to a multi-cultural classroom at a night school in downtown Los Angeles, where he's supervised by tough and sexy Assistant Principal Concepcion. Ultimately, Saint George is a celebration of a multi-generational family that humorously wrestles with cultural differences. FX ordered 10 episodes of Saint George as part of a unique syndication model crafted by Debmar-Mercury for multiple sitcoms. As is standard with the 10/90 model, if the series meets designated ratings thresholds over its first 10-episode run, the network will trigger an additional 90-episode order.

The series stars George Lopez (George Lopez, Lopez Tonight) as George Lopez, Jenn Lyon (Justified) as Mackenzie, Olga Merediz (In the Heights) as Alma, Diana Maria Riva (The Bridge) as Concepcion, and Kaden Gibson (Review With Forrest MacNeil) as Harper, with David Zayas (Dexter) as cousin Junior and Danny Trejo (Machete Kills) as uncle Tio.

TV Land has greenlit single-camera sitcom Jennifer Falls starring Emmy(R) Award-winning actress Jaime Pressly (My Name is Earl). The comedy, which was previously announced as a multi-cam series, is now a single-camera comedy and will premiere this summer on TV Land. 8 episodes have been ordered so far. Jennifer Falls revolves around a career woman and mother, Jennifer Doyle (Pressly) who must move back in with her own mom (Jessica Walter) after being let go from her high-powered, six-figure salary job. The comedy is written, created and executive produced by Matthew Carlson (The Wonder Years, Malcolm in the Middle), with Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis (Reba, The Exes) also serving as executive producers.
