Hot in Cleveland Going Live Again, As is Soul Man; Sitcom Stars on Talk Shows (Week of January 27, 2014)
TV Land announced a LIVE television event: one hilarious hour with two LIVE back-to-back season premieres of original sitcoms – Hot in Cleveland and The Soul Man this spring. Hot in Cleveland will go LIVE for the second time on Wednesday, March 26 at 10pm ET, and The Soul Man will follow at 10:30pm ET with its first live episode ever. The Soul Man, a spin-off of Hot in Cleveland, stars Cedric The Entertainer as Reverend Boyce Ballentine, a character that originated as Elka Ostrovsky's (Betty White, Hot in Cleveland) pastor. Their characters will again cross over into each other's worlds during the live shows. The West Coast will get the live-to-tape versions beginning at 10pm PT. Current 10pm occupants The Exes and Kirstie will finish their seasons up in late February.
Hot in Cleveland premiered last season with a live episode on June 19, 2013. Guest stars in this episode included Brian Baumgartner (The Office), Danny Pudi (Community), Shirley Jones (The Partridge Family) and Star Trek legend William Shatner, and the episode averaged 2.7 million total viewers (Source: Nielsen, L+7). Friday, December 8
CBS announced the new entertainment special Norman Lear: A Life on Television, to air tonight - Friday, Dec. 8 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs). Presented by Entertainment Tonight, this one-hour special features new interviews with stars of the long-running comedies Lear created, including Jimmie Walker from Good Times and Mackenzie Phillips from One Day at a Time, in addition to never-before-seen interviews from the ET vault. Also included with this new footage and interviews is an in-depth sit-down interview with Lear that ET host Kevin Frazier conducted when Lear celebrated his 100th birthday, in which he reflected on his lengthy, groundbreaking career.
