Free Elka! Hot in Cleveland Finale; Digital Digest



TV Land announced that it has created a line of “Free Elka” t-shirts, mugs and other collectibles to celebrate the hit series and its cliffhanger season finale which aired at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Wednesday, August 18. In the season one finale, Betty White's character, Elka Ostrovsky gets booked into custody after the police find a hidden stash of valuables in her storm cellar. In the episode, viewers find out that Elka's deceased husband was a fence for the Cleveland mob and she has been sitting on these priceless items for years. The "Free Elka" line features the mug shot of White's character, Elka Ostrovsky, on the front of the shirt and the Hot in Cleveland logo on the back. The shirts, available in both women and men's styles, plus other collectibles are available via tvland.com .

“We really loved our Hot in Cleveland cliffhanger and wanted our fans to be able to have their own keepsake of this hilarious episode,” stated Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. “The fans have been such an integral part of the success of the show so we wanted to give them a way to show their support of Hot in a whole new and tangible way.”

TV Land's Hot in Cleveland was the highest rated original scripted sitcom premiere in the history of cable when it premiered on June 16, 2010. The show continues to deliver high ratings for the channel. To date, the series delivers a whopping 1.83 in Adults 25-54, a 2.34 in Women 25-54 and the first nine episodes has reached 4.0 million viewers, according to The Nielsen Company's 3-day playback plus Live viewing. Hot in Cleveland is set to start production on its second season in the fall with 20 new episodes airing in January 2011.

DIGITAL NEWS

It was another slow week for sitcoms. The Patty Duke Show - Season Three will be released on Tuesday and will include the 1999 cast reunion movie Still Rockin' In Brooklyn Heights and Brand-New PSAs Starring The Lanes. We hope to have a review of this set soon. There are rumors that Here's Lucy - Season Four will be released by MPI in the first quarter of 2011. Fox is releasing new gift set versions on DVD and Blu-ray of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - A Very Sunny Christmas on November 16th.

Fox has a press release for How I Met Your Mother - Season 5: The Suited Up Edition. Pre-orders are being taken for Weeds - Season Six on DVD and Blu-ray. No release date or cover art is available yet. The Office - Season Six on Blu-ray will have some first-of-its-kind extras.

Warner Home Video has shuffled some of the release dates for their Charlie Brown/Peanuts specials. Glee - The Complete First Season: Gleek Set will be released by Fox on November 16th. The extras for CSI: NY - The Sixth Season will include audio commentaries and bonus crossover episodes of CSI: Miami and CSI.

UPCOMING WEEK PREVIEW

Tuesday (August 24) will have only a few sitcom releases. HBO Home Video is releasing Flight of the Conchords - The Complete Collection. Shout! Factory is offering The Patty Duke Show - Season Three which will include Still Rockin In Brooklyn Heights: The Patty Duke Show cast reunion movie. Fox is releasing The Simpsons - The Thirteenth Season on DVD and Blu-ray. ABC Studios will have Lost - The Complete Sixth and Final Season on DVD Blu-ray. They will also be releasing Lost - The Complete Collection on DVD and Blu-ray. And finally, CBS DVD will have NCIS - The Seventh Season. Look for our reviews of many of these releases soon.
