CBS Renews Ghosts and Fire Country; Apple TV+ Orders Owen Wilson Comedy
CBS announced the comedy series Ghosts and drama Fire Country have been renewed for the 2024-2025 season. Ghosts streaming viewership is up +64% year over year and ranked as the #1 comedy on Paramount+ in February. The season three premiere of Ghosts was the series' most-watched episode ever on a Live+SD basis. Ghosts airs on Thursdays at 8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT. Streaming viewership has more than doubled for Fire Country and is a top six series on Paramount+ and ranked as the #4 drama on the service in the month of February. The series is a time period winner and a key part of CBS' Friday night lineup. Fire Country airs on Fridays at 9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT. Both seriies air on the CBS Television Network and are available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after it airs). Both series are produced by CBS Studios.
Ghosts stars Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar as a couple that inherits a rundown mansion in upstate New York that they decide to convert into a bed & breakfast. Brandon Scott Jones, Richie Moriarty, Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, Román Zaragoza, Sheila Carrasco, Rebecca Wisocky and Devon Chandler Long also star. Fire Country stars Max Thieriot, as Bode Donovan, a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Stephanie Arcila, Jordan Calloway and Jules Latimer also star.
Apple TV+ announced it will expand its award-winning comedy slate with a new 10-episode comedy starring and executive produced by Owen Wilson (Loki, The Royal Tenenbaums, Midnight in Paris) and created, written by and executive produced by Jason Keller (Ford v Ferrari). Starring Wilson in the lead role, the comedy follows Pryce Cahill, an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After he gets fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store and his wife walks out on him, Pryce hedges his bets entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom.
Hailing from Apple Studios, the untiled series will be directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Fleishman is in Trouble, Little Miss Sunshine, Battle of the Sexes), and executive produced by Propagate Content's Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens and Rodney Ferrell, Entertainment 360's Guymon Casady, Piece of Work's Lee Eisenberg and Natalie Sandy, Chris Moynihan, Keller and Wilson. The new series joins an expanding offering of global hit, Apple Original comedies including the multi Emmy Award-winning phenomenon Ted Lasso, as well as Emmy Award-nominated Shrinking, acclaimed returning series Platonic and Loot, and the highly anticipated, star-studded Palm Royale.

Roseanne Couch Week on COZI TV; The CW Orders Leighton Meester Series for 2025
COZI TV, NBCUniversal Local's national multicast network, is partnering with Carsey-Werner Television to shine the spotlight this year on the unheralded star of many memorable scenes from its primetime staple Roseanne – the hit sitcom's iconic couch – through a series of events and special programming, beginning this month. COZI TV today announced a comically over-sized, inflatable Roseanne couch, matching the version used on the show, will embark on a nationwide tour of GalaxyCon fan events, which are scheduled for Richmond, Va., March 15-17; Raleigh, N.C., July 25-28; San Jose, Calif., Aug. 16-18; and Miami, (date TBD).
As part of the initiative, COZI TV will present "Roseanne Couch Week," July 8-12. Comprised of 20 episodes, the multi-part marathon will begin nightly at 11 p.m./10 p.m. ET and will be hosted by an animated, crocheted, afghan-wearing talking couch. Over four episodes per night, the verbose couch will spill the stuffing on behind-the-scenes stories and favorite moments from the show, as well as photos of GalaxyCon attendees’ encounters with the colossal replica. The tour and special week of episodes come as Roseanne is transitioning from standard to high-def episodes, remastered with the use of fast-evolving AI technology that, combined with human artistry, allows studios to convert episodes from their original low-quality tape sources into HD 16x9 master materials on an ongoing basis.
The CW Network, Roku Originals and Stan have teamed up for the original scripted series Good Cop/Bad Cop starring Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl), Luke Cook (Katy Keene, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Clancy Brown (Dexter: New Blood, Billions). Production on the eight-part procedural dramedy created by John Quaintance (Reboot, Will & Grace) and produced by Jeff Wachtel's Future Shack Entertainment and Jungle Entertainment is slated to begin later this spring in Queensland, Australia. The series is set to premiere on The CW in 2025 and will stream on The Roku Channel in the U.S. and Stan in Australia.
Good Cop/Bad Cop is a one-hour procedural dramedy centered around Lou (Leighton Meester) and Henry (Luke Cook), an odd couple sister and brother detective team in a small Pacific Northwest police force. They must contend with colorful residents, a serious lack of resources, and their very complicated dynamic with each other and with their police chief, Big Hank (Clancy Brown) - who happens to be their father.

Every Grey's Anatomy Episode Now on Hulu; You Season 5 Casting Update
Ahead of the milestone 20th season premiere on ABC, all 420 episodes of the beloved medical drama are now available on Hulu. Grey's Anatomy is one of our top performing next-day titles, and Hulu is now the only streaming destination to offer every Grey's episode ever, both past and current. To celebrate the launch, Hulu has released a new featurette reliving the most iconic moments from the past 19 seasons and teasing what's still to come.
Grey's Anatomy season 1-19 available now. Season 20 premieres Thursday, March 14, on ABC and begins streaming Friday, March 15, exclusively on Hulu. Madeline Brewer will join Penn Badgley in Season 5 of Netflix's You. Brewer plays Bronte, an enigmatic and free-spirited playwright who comes to work for Joe at his bookstore. As the two connect over literature and loss, she stokes in him a nostalgia for his former self, causing him to question everything his life has become. Will Joe Goldberg finally get his judgment day? Fans of the beloved thriller will soon know more about Joe's fate when You returns for a fifth and final season. The series took the world by storm when season one premiered on Netflix in December 2018 (following its one-season run on Lifetime). The series is now in its fourth season, growing its audience over the course of its first three seasons with more hours viewed through 28 days for each season than the one before it. Season four has spent 5 weeks in the Global Top 10 English TV list, and reached the Top 10 in 90 countries.

Amazon Freevee Gets New Comedy Series; Apple TV+ Loot Returns April 3
Amazon Freevee announced the official April 18 premiere date and released the trailer for the new single-camera comedy series, Dinner with the Parents, about a weekly family get-together that always devolves into chaos. Every Friday evening, the closely-knit Langers prove that it takes those we love best to bring out our worst. On tonight's menu: pranks, schemes, unwelcome neighbors, childhood crushes, at least one felony, many very bad decisions, and a scrumptious, freshly-baked apple crisp. The first four episodes of Dinner with the Parents will be available to stream exclusively on Amazon Freevee in the U.S. beginning on Thursday, April 18, with two additional episodes available each Thursday until the finale on May 9.
Dinner with the Parents stars Michaela Watkins (Tiny Beautiful Things, Casual) as Jane, Dan Bakkedahl (Veep) as Harvey, Carol Kane (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) as Rose/Nana, Henry Hall (Curb Your Enthusiasm) as David, Daniel Thrasher (YouTube @DanielThrasher) as Gregg, and Jon Glaser (Life and Beth) as Donnie. Apple TV+ revealed the trailer for the second season of Loot, the critically acclaimed comedy led by multi-Emmy Award-winning star and executive producer Maya Rudolph, alongside returning ensemble cast stars Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Nat Faxon, Ron Funches and Joel Kim Booster. Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik Reprising Their Characters from Big Bang; Monsters at Work Returns for Season 2
Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will reprise their roles of Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler in the series finale of Young Sheldon, airing Thursday, May 16 on CBS, and streaming on Paramount+. Details of the appearance are being kept under wraps. The pair last appeared on screen together in The Big Bang Theory series finale, which aired in May 2019.
Parsons serves as an executive producer and the narrator of Young Sheldon. Bialik has also appeared in voiceover form in two episodes of the series. This will mark the first on-camera return of their characters.
The series stars Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, Emily Osment and Jim Parsons (as the voice of Sheldon). Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, Steve Holland, Nick Bakay, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak serve as executive producers.
The EmmyⓇ-winning animated comedy series Monsters at Work, inspired by Disney and Pixar's AwardⓇ-winning Monsters, Inc., returns for season two with a special two-episode premiere on Friday, April 5 (8:00 p.m. EDT), on Disney Channel and Disney XD. Subsequent airings will move to Saturdays, with two new episodes launching each week beginning at 10:00 a.m. EDT on both channels, leading up to the series’ streaming debut on Disney+ on Sunday, May 5.

CBS Orders Multi-Camera Spin-off of Young Sheldon; FETV Acquires Highway Patrol
CBS announced a series order for a new half-hour, multi-camera comedy starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment for broadcast in the 2024-2025 season. Created by the producing team behind The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, the sequel follows Young Sheldon's Georgie (Jordan) and Mandy (Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage.
Young Sheldon has been a consistent ratings winner. It premiered as the #1 new comedy of the 2017-2018 television season and became the #1 comedy in the 2019-2020 season after The Big Bang Theory completed its run. Young Sheldon returned for its seventh and final season on Feb. 15 and remains television's #1 comedy. With seven days of viewing across all platforms (linear + streaming), the season seven premiere averaged 11.2 million viewers and is up +18% from its year ago debut. The seventh and final season of Young Sheldon airs Thursdays (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT), with a series finale of two back-to-back episodes on Thursday, May 16 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs).
FETV (Family Entertainment Television), home to beloved and timeless television series and movies carried across cable, satellite, and virtual platforms, announced today that Highway Patrol will join the network's programming lineup beginning Monday, April 1. The show will debut in its regular time slot every morning at 7a ET. To celebrate the launch of the show, FETV will conduct a Watch & Win Trivia Contest during telecasts of Highway Patrol the week of April 8. Highway Patrol stars Broderick Crawford as Dan Mathews, a dedicated chief of a police force in an unspecified Western state. Episodes were based on authentic police cases from highway patrol divisions around the country. The series was produced for syndication from 1955 to 1959.
FETV's current lineup features popular television series such as Emergency!, Leave It to Beaver, Perry Mason and Adam-12. According to Nielsen, FETV's average audience in Total Day (7am-3am ET) ranks among the top 50 ad-supported cable networks.

CBS announced the first-year series Tracker, starring Justin Hartley, has been renewed for the 2024-2025 season. The series premiere, which debuted on Feb. 11 following the Super Bowl, has now been seen by 30 million multiplatform viewers and is Paramount+'s #1 show in February. The series stars Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, a lone-wolf survivalist who roams the country as a reward seeker, using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve all manner of mysteries while contending with his own fractured family. Laff Acquires Matthew Perry and Will Arnett Sitcoms; Lisa Whelchel Returns for MeTV Series
Laff has acquired two recent sitcoms. The Odd Couple revival starring Matthew Perry and The Millers starring Will Arnett will air Monday-Saturday starting today (March 4). Both sitcoms will air back-to-back in the 11AM hour. The Odd Couple aired for three seasons on CBS from 2015-17 and starred Matthew Perry as endearing slob Oscar Madison and Thomas Lennon as uptight neat freak Felix Unger, two former college buddies who become unlikely roommates after the demise of their marriages. It's not long after Oscar lets Felix move in that Oscar fears he's made a monumental mistake. However, despite how exasperated they make each other, these mismatched friends agree they can help each other move on from their divorces and somehow make this crazy living arrangement work. The Millers aired for two seasons on CBS from 2013-15 and starred Will Arnett as Nathan Miller, a recently divorced local roving news reporter looking forward to living the singles' life until his parents' marital problems unexpectedly derail his plans.

Lopez vs Lopez Season 2 Brings Out the Stars; Prime Video's Música Drops April 4
Lopez vs Lopez has announced its guest stars for seaso two, which premieres Tuesday, April 2 with back-to-back episodes at 8 and 8:30 p.m. on NBC. NBC's Lopez vs. Lopez is back for season 2 with a star-studded guest cast list! Season 3 of Hacks Adds Star Power; Remembering Richard Lewis
The Emmy(R)-winning and critically acclaimed Max Original comedy series Hacks has added Helen Hunt, Christina Hendricks, Christopher Lloyd, Dan Bucatinsky, George Wallace, and Tony Goldwyn as guest stars for the highly anticipated third season, debuting this spring. A year after parting, Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) is riding high off the success of her standup special while Ava (Hannah Einbinder) pursues new opportunities back in Los Angeles. Newly announced cast: Helen Hunt (Blindspotting, Mad About You, Twister, As Good as it Gets), Christina Hendricks (The Buccaneers, Good Girls, Mad Men, Drive), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, The Tender Bar, Who Framed Roger Rabbit), Dan Bucatinsky (Air, Scandal, The Comeback), George Wallace (Clean Slate), and Tony Goldwyn (Oppenheimer, Law & Order, Scandal, upcoming film Ezra). Stand-up comedian and actor Richard Lewis, who starred as Marty Gold in Anything But Love and as a semi-fictionalized version of himself in Curb Your Enthusiasm, has died. He died of a heart attack at his home in Los Angeles on February 27. Mr. Lewis was 76.
Lewis starred as Richard Breskin in the short-lived 1987 ABC sitcom Harry. The series stars Alan Arkin as Harry Porschak, a wheeler-dealer supply clerk at County General Hospital. The cast also included Holland Taylor, Thom Bray, Matt Craven, Barbara Dana and Kurt Knudson.
He starred as Marty Gold in the 1989-1992 ABC sitcom Anything But Love, which spanned four seasons and 56 episodes. The show stars Lewis as Marty Gold and Jamie Lee Curtis as Hannah Miller, coworkers at a Chicago magazine with a mutual romantic attraction who struggle to keep their relationship strictly professional. The cast also included Richard Frank, Louis Giambalvo (Season 1), Bruce Kirby (Season 1), Sandy Faison (Season 1), Ann Magnuson (Seasons 2-4), Holly Fulger (Seasons 2-4), Joseph Maher (Season 2), Billy Van Zandt (Season 2), Jane Milmore (Season 2) and Bruce Weitz (Seasons 3-4).
Lewis starred as Dr. Steven Mitchell in the short-lived 1993 Fox sitcom Daddy Dearest. The series revolves around Dr. Steven Mitchell, a psychologist who lived in Manhattan with his young son and, despite his constant insults and put downs, his father Al (Don Rickles), an obnoxious used car salesman who was recently separated from his wife Helen (Renée Taylor). The cast also included Sydney Walsh, Alice Carter, Carey Eidel, Jonathan Gibby (pilot only), Jeffrey Bomberger and Barney Martin.
He starred as Neil Diller in the 1997-1998 ABC sitcom Hiller and Diller. Ted Hiller (Kevin Nealon) and Neil Diller are two comedy writers with very different lives. Ted has an overachieving daughter among his three children, while Neil has two troublesome teenagers. The series also starred Jordan Baker, Allison Mack, Kyle Sabihy, Jill Bernard, Faryn Einhorn, Jonathan Osser and Eugene Levy.
Lewis had a recurring role as a semi-fictionalized version of himself in 41 episodes of the 2000-2024 HBO sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm. Richard is a neurotic stand-up comedian who has recently recovered from alcohol and drug problems. He is one of Larry David's oldest and closest friends, both having moved from New York City to Los Angeles to pursue careers in comedy. The series also stars Jeff Garlin, Cheryl Hines, Susie Essman and J. B. Smoove.
Some of his sitcom guest appearances included House Calls (also 2 episodes as a writer), The Larry Sanders Show, Rude Awakening (6 episodes as Harve Schwartz), Two and a Half Men, George Lopez, Everybody Hates Chris, 'Til Death (3 episodes) and Blunt Talk (6 episodes as Dr. Weiss). Some of his voice credits included episodes of Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist (1997), The Simpsons and BoJack Horseman.
Lewis had a recurring role as Rabbi Richard Glass in 9 episodes of 7th Heaven from 2002 to 2004. Some of his other television guest apperarances included Riptide, CBS Summer Playhouse, Tattingers, Tribeca, Tales from the Crypt, V.I.P., Presidio Med, Alias, The Dead Zone, Las Vegas, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (voice), The Cleaner (2009) and Code Black.
He starred as Prince John in the 1993 adventure comedy film Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Some of his other film credits included Wagons East (1994), Leaving Las Vegas (1995) and Hugo Pool (1997).
Mr. Lewis was a talented comedian and actor. He was always a very funny late night guest. We thank him for the many laughs he brought us during his long career. He will be greatly missed.

We also remember Emmy-winning television producer and screenwriter Dan Wilcox. He worked on M*A*S*H. He died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on February 14. Mr. Wilcox was 82.
Wilcox worked on the last four seasons (1979-1983) of the CBS sitcom M*A*S*H. He was a writer and/or executive story editor on 36 episodes of M*A*S*H from 1979 to 1983. He wrote the series finale "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" along with Alan Alda, Burt Metcalfe, John Rappaport, Thad Mumford, Elias Davis, David Pollock and Karen Hall. It was the most-watched finale and single episode of any television series in U.S. history with 106 million viewers. He was a producer for the last two seasons from 1981 to 1983.
Some of his other sitcom writing credits included That's My Mama, The Practice (1976), America 2-Night (65 episodes), Good Times, The Waverly Wonders (4 episodes), Angie (2 episodes), Open All Night, The Duck Factory (2 episodes), Newhart (2 episodes), Eisenhower & Lutz, FM (3 episodes), Growing Pains, The New WKRP in Cincinnati, The Jeff Foxworthy Show, Police Academy: The Series, Cosby and Becker.
Some of his other sitcom producing credits included The Duck Factory, Newhart, Eisenhower & Lutz, FM and Growing Pains.
Mr. Wilcox received an Emmy Award for his work on Sesame Street in 1970. He was nominated for four more Primetime Emmy Awards. We thank him for his work on M*A*S*H and other sitcoms. He will be missed.
