The Max Original adult animated special Velma: This Halloween Needs To Be More Special!, from Warner Bros. Animation, debuts Thursday, October 3 on Max. With just 24 hours to bring Velma back, the friends search for a dark spellbook while trying to avoid the wrath of a vengeful spirit. But as the annual Sexy Halloween party nears, Velma and the gang must face their biggest fears... if they all want to make it out alive. Max's Velma Returns April 25; Eva Longoria Apple TV+ Series Premieres in June

The ten-episode second season of the Max Original adult animated series Velma from Warner Bros. Animation debuts Thursday, April 25. When an even spookier mystery grips Crystal Cove, Velma (Mindy Kaling) must find a way to balance her detective work with the demands of her newfound popularity before it’s too late. Meanwhile, her faithful friends Daphne (Constance Wu), Norville (Sam Richardson), and Fred (Glenn Howerton) are powerless to help thanks to their own personal battles and worse… Detention. Season 2 cast: Stars Mindy Kaling, Glenn Howerton, Sam Richardson, and Constance Wu. Land of Women

Apple TV+ announced that Land of Women, its new six-episode dramedy starring and executive produced by Golden Globe nominee Eva Longoria, will make its global debut with two episodes on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, with new chapters set to unfold every Wednesday through July 24, 2024. Also starring legendary film and television star Carmen Maura and newcomer Victoria Bazúa. Land of Women stars Longoria as Gala, a New York empty nester whose life is turned upside down when her husband implicates the family in financial improprieties, and she is forced to flee the city alongside her aging mother (Maura) and teenage daughter (Bazúa). To escape the dangerous criminals to whom Gala's now vanished husband is indebted, the three women hide in the same charming wine town in northern Spain that Gala's mother fled 50 years ago, vowing never to return. The women seek to start anew and hope their identities will remain unknown, but gossip in the small town quickly spreads, unraveling their deepest family secrets and truths.

Hailing from Apple Studios, and inspired by award-winning author Sandra Barneda's best-selling novel La tierra de las mujeres, Land of Women is created by Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira and Paula Fernández and is directed by Iris Award winner Carlos Sedes. truTV's Tacoma FD Returns July 20; Max Renews Velma, Clone High and More; Remembering Treat Williams

Tacoma FD

truTV will premiere season four of Tacoma FD on Thursday, July 20 at 10:00PM ET/PT with 13 new episodes. Kevin Heffernan (Chief Terry McConky) and Steve Lemme (Captain Eddie Penisi) return as TV's funniest firefighters who lead their eclectic crew, Marcus Henderson (Granny), Gabriel Hogan (Ike), and Hassie Harrison (Lucy) through new emergencies, a station renovation, and welcoming a new recruit Mickleberry, played by Chris Avila.

Tacoma FD is set in a firehouse in one of America's rainiest cities. These firefighters keep themselves entertained with creative competitions, friendly first responder rivalries and bizarre emergency calls. Joining the hijinks this season are celebrity guests Tony Danza as a guardian angel, David Arquette as Teddy Dickosi, Captain Penisi’s rival for the approval of the Chief, and more including Dexter Loomis, MC Gainey, Timothy Murphy & Amin Joseph. Returning favorites Joey Pantoliano, Paul Soter, Jim Rash, Jon Rudnitsky, Maria Russell and Jamie Kaler also appear throughout the 13 new episodes.




Young Love

Suzanna Makkos, Executive Vice President, Original Comedy and Adult Animation, Max and Adult Swim, showcased the Max Original Adult Animation Slate at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival during her "Share With" session, unveiling the official second season trailer for the Max Original Ten Year Old Tom and revealing a first look image from the Max Original Young Love.

The presentation showcased Max Originals programming currently in development including Anything Factory, Uptown Bodega, and Keeping Up With the Joneses, detailed below. These programs in development are in addition to Makkos' current Max Originals slate that includes Harley Quinn, which Makkos announced will return for its fourth season this summer, Velma, Clone High, with season two currently in production for a 2024 debut, Fired on Mars, and the upcoming Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake, Scavengers Reign (in competition at Annecy), and DC's Harley Quinn spinoff Kite Man: Hell Yeah! (formerly announced with the working title Noonan's) and Creature Commandos, from producers James Gunn and Peter Safran.




Treat Williams

Actor Treat Williams, who starred as Dr. Andy Brown on Everwood, has died. He was involved in a motorcycle crash on June 13 on Vermont Route 30, near Dorset. He was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in New York, where he was pronounced dead. Mr. Williams was 71.

Good Advice

Williams starred as Jack Harold on the 1993-1994 CBS sitcom Good Advice. Divorce attorney Jack Harold is the love interest of Dr. Susan DeRuzza (Shelley Long), a successful marriage therapist and the author of a best-selling book on the subject, Giving and Forgiving. The series aired for 2 seasons and 17 episodes (plus 2 unaired episodes). The cast included George Wyner, Estelle Harris (season 1), Ross Malinger, Lightfield Lewis, Teri Garr (season 2) and Henriette Mantel (season 2).

Everwood

He starred as Dr. Andrew "Andy" Brown on The WB 2002-2006 drama Everwood. The series is about a widowed neurosurgeon moving from New York City to the fictional small town of Everwood, Colorado with his two children. Williams was twice nominated in 2003 and 2004 for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor.

Williams starred as Eddie Dodd on the short-lived 1991 ABC drama Eddie Dodd. He starred as Dr. Nathaniel "Nate" Grant on the short-lived 2007 TNT medical drama Heartland. He played Don Kowalski on the 2011 Lifetime police drama Against the Wall. In 2015, he starred as Colonel Stephen Glen on the NBC action thriller American Odyssey. He starred as Mick O'Brien on the 2016-2022 Hallmark Channel drama Chesapeake Shores.

He appeared as David Morton in six episodes of Brothers & Sisters in 2006. He had recurring roles as Samuel Phelps/James Bennett in six episodes of White Collar from 2012 to 2013. He played Benjamin "Benny" Severide in 16 episodes of Chicago Fire from 2013 to 2018. He appeared as Lenny Ross, the former police partner of Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), in six episodes of Blue Bloods from 2016 to 2023.

Williams voiced himself and film character William Sullivan in a 2012 episode of The Simpsons. Some of his other television guest appearances included Tales from the Crypt, Road to Avonlea, Going to California, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Leverage, Hawaii Five-0 (2 episodes in 2013) and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his role as Michael Ovitz in the 1996 HBO movie The Late Shift.

He received Golden Globe nominations for his roles as George Berger in Hair (1979) and as Daniel Ciello in Prince of the City (1981). Some of his other film credits included 1941 (1979), The Pursuit of D. B. Cooper (1981), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), Flashpoint (1984), Smooth Talk (1985), Dead Heat (1988), The Phantom (1996), The Devil's Own (1997), Deep Rising (1998), The Substitute franchise (1998–2001), The Deep End of the Ocean (1999), Miss Congeniality 2 (2005) and 127 Hours (2010).

Mr. Williams was a talented and dependable actor. He made everything he appeared in much better. We thank him for his work on television and in films. He will be greatly missed.

New York Comic Con Recap and News Roundup; Fox Renews Krapopolis for Season 2

LIVE from New York Comic Con, we have scoops to give you! First up, the Velma trailer was released. Velma is an adult animated comedy series telling the origin story of Velma Dinkley (voiced by Mindy Kailing), the unsung and under appreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang. This original and humorous spin unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America's most beloved mystery solvers. Constance Wu, Sam Richardson, and Glenn Howerton have joined the cast as Daphne, Norville (Shaggy) and Fred. A slew load of guest voices will also appear such as Ken Jeong and Melissa Fumero. Velma is streaming in 2023 on HBO Max with 10 episodes (and we may get more very soon, stay tuned).



* Great minds think unlike. Don't miss the two-episode premiere of The Mysterious Benedict Society season 2, streaming October 26 on Disney+. Some scoops include guest appearances by Bronson Pinchot and Haley Joel Osment! The series stars Tony Hale as Mr. Benedict; Kristen Schaal as Number Two; MaameYaa Boafo as Rhonda Kazembe; Ryan Hurst as Milligan; Gia Sandhu as Ms. Perumal; Seth B. * Peace, love, and mind control. Proper good times ahead. Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman's Butler Season 3 arrived October 6, only on HBO Max, with episodes premiering weekly throuh Nov. 24. And all 10 episodes of The Midnight Club has dropped on Netflix. Welcome to Brightcliffe Hospice. From the creators of The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass comes a new Netflix horror series: The Midnight Club. At a hospice with a mysterious history, the eight members of the Midnight Club meet each night at midnight to tell sinister stories - and to look for signs of the supernatural from the beyond. A new horror series from Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy's Intrepid Pictures (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass), and Leah Fong, based on the creative work of bestselling author Christopher Pike. The Midnight Club premiered on Netflix is October 7, 2022.

* Season 2 of Peacock's original must-watch teen murder mystery One of Us Lying to premiere on Thursday, October 20 with all 8 episodes dropping at launch. The series stars Marianly Tejada ("Bronwyn"), Chibuikem Uche ("Cooper"), Annalisa Cochrane ("Addy"), Cooper van Grootel ("Nate"), Jess McLeod ("Janae"), Melissa Collazo ("Maeve"), Sara Thompson ("Vanessa"), Alimi Ballard ("Kevin"). AMC Networks presented a panel for its new series Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches, the second series in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, at New York Comic-Con. The panel, which featured Executive Producers Mark Johnson, Showrunner Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford, and cast members Alexandra Daddario, Jack Huston, Tongayi Chirisa and Harry Hamlin, included the debut of the series' first official trailer and announced the show's premiere date. The series will stream exclusively on AMC+ on Thursday, January 5, 2023, with the first two episodes available that same night. Subsequent episodes will rollout weekly.

* The eight-episode third and final season of His Dark Materials will debut Monday, December 5 (9:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) with two back-to-back episodes on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. Two new episodes will debut each week leading up to the series finale on December 26. Lin-Manuel Miranda will return for season three as Lee Scoresby. Series stars Dafne Keen as Lyra, Amir Wilson as Will, Ruth Wilson as Mrs. Coulter, James McAvoy as Lord Asriel, Simone Kirby as Mary Malone, Will Keen as Father President McPhail, Jade Anouka as Ruta Skadi, Ruta Gedminstas as Serafina Pekkala, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Commander Ogunwe, Jamie Ward as Father Gomez, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Simon Harrison and Chipo Chung as the rebel angels Balthamos, Baruch and Xaphania, and Amber Fitzgerald-Woolfe as Ama.

* The new series Let the Right One In stars Oscar nominee Demián Bichir (A Better Life), Tony winner Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls, Power) and rising young actress and singer Madison Taylor Baez (Selena: The Series) as well as Grace Gummer (Mr. Robot), Ian Foreman (Merry Wish-Mas), Jacob Buster (Colony), Nick Stahl (Sin City) and Kevin Carroll (Snowfall). The 10-episode series officially premiered on streaming and on demand Friday, October 7, with its on-air premiere last night, Sunday, October 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME. The series airs weekly though Dec. 11. Inspired by the original hit Swedish novel and film, the series centers on Mark (Bichir) and his daughter Eleanor (Baez) whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the human blood she needs to stay alive. With these emotionally charged and terrifying ingredients as a starting point, the series upends genre expectations, turning a naturalistic lens on human frailty, strength and compassion.

* Tom Welling (Professionals, Smallville) has joined the cast of The CW's new drama series The Winchesters, premiering Tuesday, October 11 (8:00-9:00pm ET). The news was announced today by The Winchesters producers and cast at New York Comic Con, with Welling making a surprise appearance. Welling will appear in the recurring role as Samuel Campbell, Mary's (Meg Donnelly) dad and the patriarch of the Campbell Hunting family. Samuel taught Mary everything he knows. Gruff and pragmatic, he's a veteran Hunter who prefers actions over words - and it's always his way or the highway. But when Samuel teams up with Mary and her friends to save the world, he won't only have to defeat the most dangerous monster he's ever faced - he'll also have to mend his broken relationship with his daughter. Welling will make his first appearance as Samuel Campbell in episode seven.

Danneel and Jensen Ackles

* Azarath. Metrion. Zenthos. Part 1 of Season 4 of DC's Titans premieres November 3 on HBO Max. Hold on to your butts, a new season is coming! Season 4 Part 1 of Doom Patrol premieres December 8 on HBO Max. And finally, FX's Kindred, the new drama series based on Octavia E. Butler's profoundly influential novel, will premiere Tuesday, December 13 exclusively on Hulu. The premiere will include all eight episodes.


Krapopolis

In advance of its series premiere, Fox Entertainment has renewed its all-new animated comedy Krapopolis for a second season. From Emmy Award-winning creator and executive producer Dan Harmon (co-creator of Rick and Morty), Krapopolis marks Fox Entertainment's first wholly owned animated series and is produced by Fox's Emmy-winning animation studio, Bento Box Entertainment. Krapopolis is set in mythical ancient Greece and tells the story of a dysfunctional family of humans, gods and monsters that try their hand at running the world's first cities - without trying to kill each other, that is. The series features the voices of Emmy Award winner Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), Matt Berry (What We Do in The Shadows), Pam Murphy (Mapleworth Murders) and Duncan Trussell (The Midnight Gospel). Krapopolis will premiere in 2023.
