TBS Renews Three Comedies; Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas 2017

The Guest Book

Turner's TBS has renewed three of the network's most recent hit original comedy series: The Guest Book, People of Earth and Wrecked. All three shows rank among the top 10 cable comedies with adults 18-49 in Live +7, and The Guest Book is cable's #1 new comedy series of the year. The network's summer series join TBS' previous 2017 renewals, including the dysfunctional family comedy The Detour and police procedural spoof Angie Tribeca.

The Guest Book emerged from Emmy® winner Greg Garcia's habit of writing fictitious stories in the guest books of various rental cabins in an effort to freak out the next renters. Season one stars Garret Dillahunt, Carly Jibson, Kellie Martin, Charlie Robinson, Aloma Wright, Lou Wilson, Laura Bell Bundy and Eddie Steeples as residents of a small mountain town who interact with visitors renting vacation home 'Froggy Cottage.' Executive-produced by Emmy® winners Conan O'Brien and Greg Daniels along with creator David Jenkins and showrunner Norm Hiscock, People of Earth centers on a support group for alien abductees in Beacon, N.Y. In season two, StarCrossed's members must reckon with the arrival of FBI Agent Alex Foster and the discovery that they were all previously abducted as children. The ensemble cast stars Wyatt Cenac, Ana Gasteyer, Nasim Pedrad, Oscar
Nuñez, Michael Cassidy, Alice Wetterlund, Luka Jones, Brian Huskey, Nancy Lenehan, Tracee Chimo, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Björn Gustafsson and Ken Hall. In season two of the hit survival comedy Wrecked, pirates invade the island. This is bad news for Danny, Owen and the other stranded airline passengers, who've only recently recovered from the loss of wi-fi, indoor plumbing and Steve's attempted takeover of the island. Season two stars Asif Ali, Zach Cregger, Rhys Darby, Brooke Dillman, Will Greenberg, Jessica Lowe, Ally Maki and Brian Sacca.

TCA Summer 2017 Press Tour: Cable Day 3 - Hulu Revives TGIF with 5 Classics; TBS and TNT Updates

Hulu

Happy Fri-Yay! We have to preempt our weekly Fri-Yay feature because we want to make this a #FlashbackFriday and say TGIF! Hulu announced a groundbreaking agreement with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution that will make over 800 episodes from TGIF - America's favorite Friday night sitcom lineup from the 1990s - available to stream on SVOD for the first time ever in the U.S., only on Hulu. The company also revealed a second season pickup for its critically acclaimed drama series, Harlots, as well as a new original documentary feature around one of the world's most popular female icons, Barbie. In a new agreement with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, Hulu has acquired the exclusive, streaming, subscription video on-demand rights to all episodes of iconic series Full House, Family Matters, Step by Step, Perfect Strangers and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper. The pact, which includes over 800 episodes, will mark the streaming SVOD debut of America's favorite Friday night lineup from the 1990s. The full libraries of all five beloved Warner Bros. comedies will launch exclusively in the U.S. on Hulu Friday, September 29, 2017 on the heels of the 30th Anniversary of Full House and the 25th Anniversary of Hangin' with Mr. Cooper. "TGI-Hulu!"

TBS

Turner's TBS has taken another step toward earning its comedy series merit badge by ordering a fourth season of the hit series Angie Tribeca, starring Rashida Jones. And in a shameless attempt to grab some much-deserved awards attention, the fourth season will welcome a new cast member: two-time Emmy(R) winner Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire) who has proven time and time again that he is irresistible to the Academy. Fingers crossed!

This fall, TBS will enter the next phase of its ongoing brand evolution with a slate of three new original series, plus the eagerly anticipated second season of a returning favorite. Leading the pack on Tuesday, Oct. 24 will be TBS's new scripted comedy The Last O.G, starring and created by superstar and multiple Emmy(R) nominee Tracy Morgan alongside creators and executive producers Jordan Peele and John Carcieri. This marks the exciting return of Morgan to series television as he stars opposite Tiffany Haddish, who is hot off the heels of the box office success Girls Trip. TBS will also add (mostly) friendly competition to the mix with the new head-to-head celebrity rap battle competition Drop the Mic, hosted by Method Man and Hailey Baldwin and based on the popular segment from The Late Late Show with James Corden, premiering Thursday, Oct. 26. Fans can also expect a comedy-driven reboot of a classic game show with Snoop Dogg Presents The Joker's Wild, coming this fall. And finally, starting Sunday, Nov. 19, TBS will once again lead in to Thanksgiving Week with the season 2 premiere of the critically acclaimed series Search Party.

TNT

More round-up from TCA includes: Actress and comedian Amy Sedaris cordially invites you into her home with the premiere of her new comedy series At Home with Amy Sedaris, which truTV announced will premiere on Tuesday, October 24 at 10:30pm ET/PT. Award-winning actress Michelle Dockery will be back on the bad side when she returns as thief and con artist Letty Raines, whose life is always one wrong turn or one bad decision away from implosion in the hit TNT drama Good Behavior. Juan Diego Botto, Terry Kinney, Lusia Strus and Joey Kern also star in the seductive drama, which was created by Chad Hodge and Blake Crouch and is based on a series of books by Crouch. The second season of Good Behavior is slated to premiere across TNT's television, mobile and digital platforms on Sunday, Oct. 15, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT). Turner's TNT has renewed its original drama Animal Kingdom for a third season coming in 2018 as strong multiplatform viewing helped make the series cable's only Top 20 drama this year to show growth among Adults 18-49 in its second season. Emmy(R) and Tony(R) winner Ellen Barkin, Scott Speedman, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary, Finn Cole, Molly Gordon and Carolina Guerra star.

Angie Tribeca Returns April 10; NBC Moves Trial & Error Premiere, Other Changes

Angie Tribeca

The world called, and Angie has answered with the most magnificent, masterful and moving third season of TBS's Angie Tribeca yet. Rashida Jones, Hayes MacArthur, Jere Burns, Deon Cole, Andrée Vermeulen and Jagger will be back when the powerful police drama (ha!) returns Monday, April 10, at 10:30/9:30c, exclusively on TBS, a division of Turner. TBS's first-ever police procedural, Angie Tribeca is the brainchild of Nancy and Steve Carell, who are executive-producing the series along with showrunner Ira Ungerleider. Spectacular guest star list includes Chris Pine, Natalie Portman, Michelle Dockery, Niecy Nash, Jack McBrayer, Rob Riggle, Heather Graham, Ed Helms, Mary McCormack, Ernie Hudson, Michaela Watkins, Constance Zimmer, John Michael Higgins, Rob Huebel, Liam Carroll, Timothy Omundson, Jessica St. Clair, Rachel Dratch, Jean Smart, Andrew Bachelor and many more.

In season three, Angie Tribeca makes television history by going where few shows dare to go: a third season. In pursuit of an animal rights activist turned serial killer, Tribeca (Jones), Geils (MacArthur) and Tanner (Cole) travel outside of their jurisdiction to New Orleans, New York, Miami, outer space and Universal Studios Hollywood. The season begins with the first episode and ends with the climactic last episode, barely stopping for episodes two through nine. If you liked Angie Tribeca's second season, you may or may not like the third season, which tackles issues such as dating again after divorce (Burns' Lieutenant Atkins), gambling addiction (Vermeulen's Dr. Scholls) and adjusting to life after amputation by a faulty hay baler (no one). One thing's for sure: Angie Tribeca's third season is shaping up to be among the top three seasons of the show so far.

Trial & Error

NBC has made some date changes due to the Presidential Address to the Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The season finale of This Is Us is now scheduled for Tuesday, March 14 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. As a result, the series premiere of comedy Trial & Error is now scheduled for Tuesday, March 14 from 10-11 p.m. with back-to-back episodes. An original episode of Chicago Justice will air on Tuesday, March 7 at 10 p.m., immediately following the penultimate episode of This Is Us. In Trial & Error, in the spirit of true crime documentaries, this outrageous fish-out-of-water comedy features bright-eyed New York lawyer Josh Segal (Nicholas D'Agosto), who heads to a tiny Southern town for his first big case. His mission? To defend an eccentric "rollercizing" poetry professor (John Lithgow) accused of the bizarre murder of his beloved wife. Settling into his makeshift office behind a taxidermy shop and meeting his quirky team of local misfits, Josh suspects that winning his first big case will not be easy, especially when his client is always making himself look guilty. The cast also includes Jayma Mays, Sherri Shepherd, Steven Boyer and Krysta Rodriguez.

TBS Brings Back More Comedies; TNT Orders Claws

TBS

Turner's TBS ends an impressive and transformative year with renewals of all six of its 2016 scripted comedies. The network announced 10-episode season 2 renewals of its two most recent critically acclaimed comedies, People of Earth and Search Party, which join the network's previous 2016 renewals of Angie Tribeca, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, The Detour and Wrecked, in addition to comedy mainstays Conan and American Dad! To reach younger viewers Search Party launched with a unique binge of the entire first season over Thanksgiving week, drawing more than 1.1M viewers per episode across all platforms over five days and growing. The show performed especially strong with millennials with 18% of its audience in the adults 18-34 demo. On VOD Search Party was the fastest TBS original to reach 1M views and delivered the youngest, most diverse audience of any TBS original. The dark comedy about a group of 20-something New Yorkers has garnered a 100% Fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.com, and landed on best of 2016 lists including Vanity Fair, Vulture, Yahoo!, Daily Beast, The Guardian and more. The complete first season of Search Party is now available on tbs.com, TBS On Demand and the Watch TBS mobile app. Another binge of the entire first season is scheduled to premiere during the week between Christmas and New Year's.

Since premiering Halloween night, People of Earth has ranked one of the year's Top 10 new cable comedies among adults 18-49 and is currently reaching 4.3 million viewers per episode across all platforms. The series has continued to grow throughout the season, with episode seven hitting a season high up 28 percent vs. the season average. People of Earth, airing Mondays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) from Emmy® winners Conan O'Brien and Greg Daniels, along with creator David Jenkins stars an ensemble cast led by Wyatt Cenac as a reporter investigating a support group for alien abductees. Looking ahead, The Detour is set to start its second season in February, followed by the third season of Angie Tribeca in the spring, the second seasons of Wrecked and Search Party in the summer and the second season of People of Earth later in the year. In addition, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee will continue its weekly look at news and issues as it moves to a new night, Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT), starting January 11. Those shows will be joined in 2017 by the new comedy anthology The Guest Book.

Claws

Sticking to Turner news. Turner's TNT has given a series greenlight to Claws, a midnight-dark, wickedly funny meditation on female badness set in a South Florida nail salon. Niecy Nash (Getting On, The Soul Man), Carrie Preston (True Blood), Harold Perrineau (Lost, OZ), Jenn Lyon (Justified), Judy Reyes (Scrubs, Devious Maids), Jack Kesy (The Strain), Karrueche Tran (The Nice Guys), Kevin Rankin (Dallas Buyers Club, Friday Night Lights) and Jason Antoon (Famous in Love) star in the hour-long dramedy from executive producers Rashida Jones (Angie Tribeca), Will McCormack (Toy Story 4) and Janine Sherman Barrois (ER, Criminal Minds), who also serves as showrunner.

Claws follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous manicurists working at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon, where there is a lot more going on than silk wraps and pedicures. At the center is salon owner Desna (Niecy Nash), who lives with and cares for her mentally ill twin brother, Dean (Harold Perrineau). Desna's staff includes best friend Jennifer (Jenn Lyon), a tenuously sober ex-party girl raising two children from previous relationships; Quiet Ann (Judy Reyes), Desna's enigmatic driver who also provides security for the salon; Polly (Carrie Preston), a mild-mannered preppy who recently served time in prison for identity theft; and Virginia (Karrueche Tran), who makes no effort to hide her boredom and impatience with her job.

TBS Picks Up New Seasons of Wrecked, Angie Tribeca; Hallmark Channel Brings in the Stars This Summer

Wrecked

TBS and TNT have renewed three original series currently airing on the networks: the critically acclaimed TNT drama Animal Kingdom, the new TBS comedy series Wrecked and the hit TBS comedy Angie Tribeca. First, Wrecked ranks among cable's Top 25 scripted series for the year-to-date and is the #1 new cable comedy among adults 18-49. Angie Tribeca's second season premiere delivered cable's largest increase of adults 18-49 (+41%) for a returning comedy this year. Animal Kingdom is pulling in a young audience profile and has been on an upward trajectory since its premiere. The renewals mark the latest steps in the ongoing evolution of the networks under TBS and TNT President Kevin Reilly, who has set out to energize both brands and draw in younger audiences. Since rebranding in January, TBS has premiered and renewed four new comedies: Angie Tribeca, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, The Detour and Wrecked. All four rank among the year's Top 10 new cable comedies among adults 18-49, with Wrecked and The Detour topping the chart.

Angie Tribeca

Wrecked centers on a diverse group of plane crash survivors on a remote island where they must face many threats – mostly brought on by themselves. The ensemble cast for the first season includes Asif Ali, Zach Cregger, Rhys Darby, Brooke Dillman, Ginger Gonzaga, Will Greenberg, Jessica Lowe, Ally Maki and Brian Sacca. The second 10-episode season will premiere in 2017. Angie Tribeca stars Rashida Jones, Hayes MacArthur, Jere Burns, Deon Cole, Andrée Vermeulen and Jagger. The first two seasons of the buzz-generating hit about a squad of LAPD detectives is the brainchild of executive producers Nancy and Steve Carell, with Ira Ungerleider serving as executive producer and showrunner. The 10-episode third season is slated to launch in early 2017. Animal Kingdom, which airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), stars Emmy® and Tony® winner Ellen Barkin, Scott Speedman, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary, Finn Cole, Daniella Alonso and Molly Gordon. Season two will return with 10 episodes in early 2017.

Both TBS and TNT will continue their evolution over the coming year with additional series launches. TBS's upcoming slate includes the new dark comedy Search Party, with Alia Shawkat, and the alien-abduction comedy People of Earth, starring Wyatt Cenac. TBS has also entered the rapidly growing eSports fray with the launch of Turner's ELEAGUE. TNT will follow up its Animal Kingdom success this fall with the premiere of Good Behavior, starring Michelle Dockery as a thief and con artist trying to regain her life. TNT's 2017 slate includes The Alienist, based on Caleb Carr's New York Times bestseller about a serial killer in New York during the Gilded Age; Tales from the Crypt, a new horror block from executive producer M. Night Shyamalan being built around a revival of the Tales from the Crypt anthology series, complete with a re-imagined Crypt Keeper; Will, a period drama told in contemporary style centering on a young William Shakespeare; and Foreign Bodies, a comedic drama produced with Channel 4 and featuring an international group of young adults traveling across Asia. Pilots in the works for TNT include Civil, a gripping political and social drama starring Eliza Coupe, Bradley Whitford, Courtney B. Vance, Toby Jones and Enrique Murciano that finds America on the brink of a modern day Civil War, and Claws, a wickedly funny dramedy set in a Florida nail salon starring Niecy Nash.

Angie Tribeca Back on the Case in June on TBS; Sitcom Stars on Talk Shows (Week of April 25, 2016)

Angie Tribeca

After putting murderous ventriloquists, bakers and painters behind bars in its first amazing season, TBS's Angie Tribeca is ready to untangle all new webs of deceit in the gripping second season. Rashida Jones, Hayes MacArthur, Jere Burns, Deon Cole, Andrée Vermeulen and Jagger the German Shepherd will be back when the powerful police drama (I mean comedy) returns Monday, June 6, exclusively on TBS, a division of Turner. TBS's first-ever police procedural (ha!), Angie Tribeca is the brainchild of Nancy and Steve Carell, who are executive-producing the series along with showrunner Ira Ungerleider. The buzz-generating hit has drawn widespread critical acclaim, with the LA Times calling it "an entertaining joyride," Vanity Fair dubbing it "absurd and very, very funny," and Entertainment Weekly saying "it never gets old."

In its first season, Angie Tribeca ranked as basic cable's #1 Monday night sitcom and reached more than 4.2 million viewers per episode across TBS's linear, VOD, digital and mobile platforms. The series launched in January with a groundbreaking 25-hour "Binge-A-Thon," generating more than 65 million impressions on social media. In addition, 36% of the Binge-A-Thon viewers were new to TBS. Angie Tribeca follows a squad of committed LAPD detectives who investigate the most serious cases. At the center is Angie Tribeca, a lone-wolf detective played by Rashida Jones. Hayes MacArthur is her partner, Jay Geils. Jere Burns plays the squad's apoplectic lieutenant. Helping solve each complex case are detective Danny Tanner, played by Deon Cole; Dr. Monica Scholls, the brilliant, bespectacled medical examiner played by Andrée Vermeulen; and detective David Hoffman, Tanner's K9 German Shepard partner played by Jagger.

In the second season, Angie and the detectives of the LAPD will investigate the murder of a sushi chef, the death of the “bad boy” in a boy band who gets decapitated by a t-shirt cannon and a band of drug-dealing lifeguards. In addition, they will tackle a difficult case with the help of a romance novelist. As in its first season, Angie Tribeca's second season will feature a parade of recognizable guest stars, including; James Franco, Heather Graham, Mary McCormack, Noah Wyle, Maya Rudolph, Eriq La Salle, Danny Pudi, Busy Philipps, Kevin Pollak, Rhys Darby, Ed Begley Jr., Joe Jonas, Joey McIntyre and a few more special surprise guests. (Spoiler Alert: Most of them will turn out to be the perpetrators of the crimes being investigated.) In addition, Alfred Molina will continue filling the community service requirements of his probation by once again playing the recurring role of Dr. Edelweiss.

SitcomsOnline Book Club Review - Situation Momedy by Jenna von Oy; TBS Announces Jan. 17 Premiere Date for Angie Tribeca & 10 More Episodes

Situation Momedy

SitcomsOnline Book Club Review - Situation Momedy

by Skees

Jenna von Oy has had many challenges throughout her life and career as a sitcom actress, and is best known for her role on Six on the Blossom and Stevie on The Parkers. But both of those experiences are a little different than her current experiences of being a mother. In her new book, Situation Momedy, she guides mothers through her experiences, in what is described as "a first-time mom's guide to laughing your way through pregnancy and year one."

So one may wonder why von Oy decided to write a book about motherhood. She even acknowledges this herself. What qualifies a former sitcom actress to write a book about motherhood? She addresses this right away in the preface of the book, appropriately titled "The Only Thing I'm an Expert at Is Being a Novice." She acknowledges right from the beginning that she isn't the expert, but rather that her experiences of being a mother were just like those she is writing the book for: she had no clue what she was doing. Her goal is not to tell mothers "how to" be a parent, but to try to guide them through the experiences based upon she handled them.

The question that sitcom fans may be asking at this point is "what does any of this have to do with sitcoms?" Well, it's pretty simple. As the book flows from chapter to chapter, each chapter is broken into three parts: "A Scenic View of My Past," "Cradle Chronicles," and "Moral of the Story." The first part is the part that brings her past (sometimes in relation to her career, but often not) to life, where she discusses anecdotes of her past that relate to the topic of the chapter. The remaining parts of each chapter bring us to the current day and her current experiences with motherhood.

For example, the book begins with the first chapter where she discusses being "different" on the set of The Parkers in the fourth season. But it wasn't a reference to her being the only white cast member. Instead, it was a reference to her being the "child" on the cast, the only one who wasn't a parent. It discusses how she coped with that, which was surprisingly difficult for her.

As the book progresses, over a total of 22 chapters, we get walked through the entire pregnancy experience, from the difficulties of morning sickness, creating the baby registry, and getting everybody prepared, including the father. Then we are brought into the actual birth of the child and how to deal with everything that happens after that, including getting life (and your body) back to normal following birth. The later chapters focus on the experience of going through motherhood beyond those first few days. Currently, her oldest daughter is still a toddler, so as one would expect, this only goes through the earliest days of motherhood.

The book really is a very well-written book, although if you aren't a new mother (I think fathers could possibly get some out of it as well), you may have a difficult time relating to much of it. If you're looking for a book that is about her career or any experiences from Blossom or The Parkers, you won't find so much of that here, although there are some small anecdotes. For that reason, this book has a narrow audience among sitcom fans, but it has a much broader audience among new parents who just need a little soothing and understanding from a real mom, a mom who also happened to be a sitcom actress.

Angie Tribeca

TBS has announced an airdate for its upcoming comedy Angie Tribeca, which was ordered for 10 episodes, but now 10 more have been ordered. TBS will introduce viewers to its first-ever "comedic" police procedural with a massive, international multiplatform launch on Sunday, Jan. 17, giving subscribers the opportunity to binge on the first 10 episodes of season one commercial-free through a 25-hour on-air marathon (Sunday 9pm – Monday 10pm ET/PT), as well as through TBS's VOD, digital and mobile platforms. Yep, you'll be able to watch the first ten episodes five times each during this marathon. Then on Monday, Jan. 25, TBS will begin rolling out the remaining 10 episodes. The new episodes (episodes 11-20) will launch weekly across TBS platforms each Monday at 9:30pm (ET/PT) followed by an encore (episodes 1-10) that aired during the Jan. 17 marathon at 10pm.

Real, brooding and shockingly alive, Angie Tribeca is the brainchild of Steve and Nancy Carell, who executive-produce the series through their Carousel Television. The series follows a squad of committed LAPD detectives who investigate the most serious cases, from the murder of a ventriloquist to a rash of baker suicides...but not really. OK the cat is out of the bag...Angie Tribeca is TBS's spoof of police procedurals, a comedic take on cop shows. Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation, The Office) stars in this single-camera comedy as Angie Tribeca, a ten-year veteran of the LAPD. Her fellow officers in the squad are an eccentric but brilliant group of people who investigate crime, reveal way too much personal information about themselves and refuse to rest until justice has been served...sort of. A spoof in the tradition of The Naked Gun and Airplane!, you won't be disappointed. Also starring in the series are Hayes MacArthur (Life As We Know It, Go On), Jere Burns (Justified, Dear John), Deon Cole and Andrée Vermeulen.

FOLLOW ME

Who to Follow: Anna Faris (Twitter), "Does this picture make me look like a dude?"
Claim to Fame: The comedy Mom returned to the CBS lineup just this past week, and with that, we present Anna Faris as our Follow Me. She stars in the series as Christy Plunket. But despite how successful Anna Faris has been in her career, television is something that she didn't really come to until Mom. She has a few voice roles in King of the Hill, and some recurring appearances on Friends and Entourage, but other than that, most of her previous work has been as a successful film actress. Oddly enough, the film actress turned sitcom actress is married to a sitcom actor who is becoming better known as a film actor: Chris Pratt.

TBS Gets Laughing with New Comedies in January; Freeform (ABC Family) January 2016 Premiere Dates Announced

Angie Tribeca

TBS played both sides of the coin at New York Comic-Con on Friday. First came laughs in the form of Samantha Bee & Jason Jones, the creative force behind the new late-night show Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and the new scripted comedy The Detour. Then things got serious with a screening of TBS's first-ever police procedural comedy, Angie Tribeca, followed by a powerful, in-depth panel session with Rashida Jones and the cast. Comedy power couple Samantha Bee and Jason Jones sat down with Mo Rocca and a few audience members for an intimate fireside chat, during which they covered topics ranging from marriage to parenting to having not one but two shows on the same network. Samantha Bee is set to host Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, starting this January. And Jason Jones will star in The Detour, a new scripted comedy based on his and Bee's family adventures.

TBS's new spoof of police procedurals, Angie Tribeca, is the brainchild of Steve and Nancy Carell. A spoof in the tradition of The Naked Gun and Airplane!, Angie Tribeca is executive-produced by Steve and Nancy Carell through their Carousel Television, along with Campbell Smith and Thom Hinkle. Stay tuned or a premiere date.

Pretty Little Liars

ABC Family announced at New York Comic Con that it will be ringing in the New Year with all-new episodes of the returning hit original series Pretty Little Liars, set to premiere on Tuesday, January 12 at 8:00 - 9:00 PM ET/PT. In advance of the celebrated return of the fan favorite, the network will also air Pretty Little Liars: 5 Years Forward, a one-hour behind-the-scenes glimpse at the highly anticipated series time jump on Tuesday, November 24 at 8:00 - 9:00 PM ET/PT. ABC Family is becoming Freeform in January 2016. Continuing in its sixth season, Pretty Little Liars returns this winter with a new look, new secrets and new lies. Picking up five years after we last saw the Liars, the girls are not the same people they were when they left Rosewood. Having pursued their own paths and adjusting to a life without "A," how will they be able to cope when something happens in Rosewood that forces them to go back to where it all started? Torn between their old habits and their new lives, the Liars must stick around, and together, as relationships are once again put to the test and new secrets are revealed. To give viewers a taste of what's in store, the one-hour behind-the-scenes special, Pretty Little Liars: 5 Years Forward, will offer fans a glimpse at what everyone's favorite characters have been up to inside and outside of Rosewood over the past five years. The episode will feature never-before-seen scenes, backstage tours of brand new PLL sets, interviews with the cast and crew surrounding the highly anticipated time jump, including the style evolution of the Liars, and more.

ABC Family also announced at New York Comic Con two major dates for their highly anticipated saga series Shadowhunters. Showrunner Ed Decter announced to a packed room that the series will premiere on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at 9:00 - 10:00 p.m., ET/PT. He also announced that in anticipation of the January 12 premiere, ABC Family will be airing Beyond the Shadows: The Making of Shadowhunters on Sunday, December 6th at 9:30 p.m., ET/PT. Based on the bestselling young adult fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, Shadowhunters follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters - human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother, Jocelyn, is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold. Shadowhunters is produced by Constantin Film and executive produced by Ed Decter and McG. The series stars Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Dominic Sherwood as Jace Wayland, Alberto Rosende as Simon, Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway, and Harry Shum Jr. as Magnus Bane.
