ABC to Air American Born Chinese Premiere Episode; Fox Acquires Original TV Movie

To celebrate the continued success of the Disney+ Original series, American Born Chinese, The Walt Disney Company will offer viewers a special opportunity to watch select episodes of the acclaimed Disney Branded Television series from 20th Television across its unparalleled distribution platforms and affiliate partners including ABC, Hulu, Roku, and YouTube.

American Born Chinese will be made available on the following schedule:

ABC: Saturday, June 24 at 8:00pm ET/PT – Episode 1
Hulu: Monday, June 26 – Sunday, July 9 – Episodes 1-3
YouTube: Wednesday, June 21 at 9am to Sunday, July 23 – Episode 1
Roku: Monday, June 26 – Monday, July 10 – Episodes 1-3

The coming-of-age adventure features an all-star international cast, including Academy® Award winners Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Ben Wang (Chang Can Dunk), International Emmy® Award Nominee Yeo Yann Yann (Wet Season), Chin Han (Mortal Kombat), Daniel Wu (Reminiscence), former Taekwondo champion Jimmy Liu and Sydney Taylor (Just Add Magic). Introducing audiences to a pantheon of iconic Chinese mythical characters, are guest stars Academy® Award nominee Stephanie Hsu as Shiji Niangniang, the Goddess of Stones; Ronny Chieng as unconventional monk, Ji Gong; Jimmy O. Yang as Dragon King, Ao Guang; James Hong as Jade Emperor; Leonard Wu as Niu Mowang/Bull Demon; and Poppy Liu as Princess Iron Fan. The series also welcomes Lisa Lu as soon-to-be retired acupuncturist Ni Yang and Rosalie Chiang as student activist Suzy Nakamura.

Daughter of the Bride

Fox has acquired an original TV movie to air this summer for Fox Movie Night. Daughter of the Bride follows the special relationship between Diane (Marcia Gay Harden) and Kate (Halston Sage), who are not only mother and daughter, but also best friends. However, their lives are turned upside down when Diane announces her engagement to a man named Bruce (Aidan Quinn), whom she's been secretly dating. In a series of comical events, Kate must come to terms with letting her mother be happy with someone else while she navigates her own love life and career aspirations. As Diane falls deeper in love, Kate worries that their close-knit relationship will be forever changed - and not for the better; so, she subconsciously tries to sabotage the wedding plans (despite officiating it). While Kate tries to get her mom to slow down and reconsider this obvious calamitous life decision, she finds herself falling for her handsome neighbor, Josh (Andrew Richardson) - the right guy at the totally wrong time in the all-new movie from MarVista Entertainment, Daughter of the Bride airing Tuesday, June 27 (8:00 - 10:00 PM ET/PT) on Fox.

Apple TV+ Series Frog and Toad Premieres Friday, April 28; Disney+ Reveals American Born Chinese Details

Apple TV+ released the trailer for Frog and Toad, the highly anticipated animated kids and family series based on the beloved Caldecott and Newbery Honor-winning four-book series by Arnold Lobel, premiering on Friday, April 28. Frog is a frog. Toad is a toad. They have a lot in common… but they are also very different. Frog and Toad are best friends who know that the true secret to friendship is not only enjoying the things you have in common, but embracing the things that make you different. Since our differences are what makes us special, Frog and Toad celebrate what makes them unique! Disney+ revealed the official trailer for the upcoming Original series American Born Chinese. The genre-hopping action-comedy series premieres with all eight episodes on May 24, only on Disney+. The Disney Branded Television series is produced by 20th Television. Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Gene Luen Yang, American Born Chinese chronicles the trials and tribulations of a regular American teenager whose life is forever changed when he befriends the son of a mythological god. This is the story of a young man’s battle for his own identity, told through family, comedy, and action-packed Kung-Fu.

Disney+ Comedy American Born Chinese Premieres May 24; Tim Robinson Comedy to Return May 30 on Netflix

Disney+ revealed the May 24 premiere date for the Disney+ Original series American Born Chinese, in a newly-released :30 TV spot that aired during the Oscars telecast's commercial breaks. This :30 first look at the genre-hopping action-comedy from Disney Branded Television series produced by 20th Television, celebrates the show's three Oscar nominees: Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and guest star Stephanie Hsu. Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Gene Luen Yang, American Born Chinese tells the story of Jin Wang, an average teenager juggling his high school social life with his home life. When he meets a new foreign student on the first day of the school year, even more worlds collide as Jin is unwittingly entangled in a battle of Chinese mythological gods.
