black-ish

TV One is thrilled to announce the addition of the award-winning sitcom black-ish to its programming lineup, as of Friday, September 27, 2024, just in time for the show's 10th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, TV One aired a special marathon event, allowing fans to relive the iconic moments from one of the most celebrated sitcoms in recent history. From 8 PM ET/7 PM CT on Friday, September 27, 2024, the black-ish 10th Anniversary Marathon kicked off an exciting weekend of laughs and reflections, honoring a decade of cultural commentary, humor, and heart. Join TV One as they celebrate the Johnson family and their hilarious yet impactful journey through life, love, and the complexities of Black identity in America. The series joins the regular schedule this evening from 6-8PM.

black·ish is an acclaimed American sitcom created by Kenya Barris that aired on ABC from September 24, 2014, to April 19, 2022. Spanning eight seasons with a total of 176 episodes, the series quickly became a cultural touchstone in American television. black·ish centers on the Johnson family, an affluent Black household led by patriarch Andre "Dre" Johnson (Anthony Anderson), a successful advertising executive, and his wife Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross), an accomplished anesthesiologist. The show masterfully balances humor with poignant commentary as it explores the Johnsons' experiences navigating personal, familial, and sociopolitical challenges. At its core, black·ish delves into the complexities of maintaining Black cultural identity while living in a predominantly white, upper-class suburban neighborhood. Through its sharp writing and dynamic performances, black·ish addresses important themes such as race, identity, and family, earning both critical acclaim and a loyal fanbase over its groundbreaking eight-year run.
