SitcomsOnline Digest: Roku Picks Up Second Season of Chad; Bad News Bears Remake in the Works

 Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This week, we've got news about Chad (we'll finally see season two!), news of a TV series remake of a movie (which already had a TV series remake over 40 years ago), and more. Let's get going!

  • Chad, which TBS cancelled just hours before the scheduled season two premiere, has been picked up by Roku. (Deadline)
  • CBS is looking to make a series based upon The Bad News Bears, which would actually be the second TV series remake of it following the one from 1979. (Deadline)
  • Netflix has renewed The Upshaws for a third season. (Variety)
  • A new dynamic that we'll probably be seeing more of as new streaming services pop up (and possibly others collapse) is the move of a series from one streaming service to another, and now, the new season of Girls5eva will air on Peacock rather than Netflix. (Deadline)
  • Call Me Kat paid tribute to Leslie Jordan, who died this week while he was driving to the set for the show. (Variety)
  • Once we get Halloween out of the way, we've got the big season of holidays on the way, and Antenna TV has plans for those. (SitcomsOnline)

  • If you like Bewitched, this is your weekend, with marathons on both Antenna TV and Logo on Monday.
  • Meanwhile, Rewind TV has a marathon of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch on Monday.
  • You'll be seeing lots of Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror" episodes on FXX this weekend, including a marathon that airs them all in reverse order on Monday.
  • The Munsters gets the Halloween spotlight on Sunday on COZI.
  • Blockbuster, the sitcom about the last video rental store from the chain, debuts Thursday on Netflix.
  • NBC has the season premiere of Young Rock and series debut of Lopez vs. Lopez on Friday, as they attempt to make Friday night a comedy destination.
  • Decades has a binge of Planet of the Apes this weekend.
