SitcomsOnline Digest: Bewitched Reboot in the Works; Warner Archive Plans Busy September Slate
Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This upcoming week is the final week of the "unofficial summer," so we've still got this week and next week to contend with somewhat slow news weeks before the fall begins to kick in. But until then, we've got some news about another reboot, speculation as to why The Big Bang Theory is ending, and more. Let's get going!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- This time, Bewitched is being looked at for a reboot, and like most reboots it has a twist too: Samantha and Darren would be an interracial couple. (Entertainment Weekly)
- We're sure that you've heard by now that The Big Bang Theory is ending after the upcoming season, and while nobody is really certain (at this point) if there was one specific reason, it is believed it may be due to Jim Parsons walking away from the series. (Entertainment Tonight)
- The Freeform series Young and Hungry was supposed to have a wrap-up movie to tie up any loose ends, but it looks as if that has been scrapped. (Hollywood Reporter)
- Robin Leach, who was famously known as the voice behind the series Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, has died this week at age 76. (ABC News)
- If you ever wanted evidence that people take pleasure in seeing the woes of those whom they oppose politically, just check out the ratings for MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show, which has been the most watched (at least with total viewers, not necessarily for the important demographics) cable TV series three nights in a row this week following what has been considered a difficult week for Donald Trump. - Summer is just about over, so not surprisingly, it is time for a new MeTV schedule. (SitcomsOnline)

- Warner Archive has a very busy slate of sitcom releases coming in September, with Mom - The Complete Fifth Season (9/4), The Middle - The Complete Ninth Season (9/11), Step by Step - The Complete Second Season (9/18), and Perfect Strangers - The Complete Fifth Season (9/25).
HOME MEDIA RELEASES (AUGUST 21)
- Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Season Five (DVD, $39.98): The final season of the series to air on Fox (before it heads over to NBC next season) arrives on DVD in this release.
- If you haven't already been watching it, Matt Groenig's series Disenchantment has been on Netflix for a little over a week now.
- Decades will be having a binge of The Commish this weekend.

East Hollywood Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving examiner Colette pines for her coworker Noa while enduring teasing from colleagues Gregg, Vic and Ceci. Also, new manager Barb rallies the crew to save their branch from government shutdown.
St. Denis Medical - "This Isn't Bingo" (NBC, 8:00PM ET/PT)
Alex hosts a senior health fair; Bruce resuscitates a patient with a DNR; Ron competes with Matt over a patient's homemade fudge.
Stumble - "In Sync" (NBC, 8:30PM ET/PT) (Repeat)
It's back to school for Heådltston State JC, which means in addition to her coaching, Courteney must get her kids settled into the dorms and begin classes; when the girls' periods sync up, Courteney's doesn't and she worries she may be pregnant.
