SitcomsOnline Digest: ATX Television Festival Highlights; Fox Planning Busy Slate of MOD TV on DVD Releases Next Two Weeks
Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! We're into our usual summer slump of news, although a week later than usual due to the cancellation of Roseanne giving us plenty of news last week. This week, we're some musings from past TV series from the ATX Television Festival, learning of the renewal of a popular FX series, and more. Let's get going!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- Marcy Carsey, who was a producer for Roseanne and The Cosby Show (both of which have experienced major controversies with their stars recently), had an opportunity to address these issues this week. (Hollywood Reporter)
- On a more positive note, some former TGIF casts members and producers got together this week to discuss their legacy, as well as how old episodes of their series continue to thrive on Hulu. (LA Times)
- Trial & Error returns for a second season on July 19, and the executive producer and cast is giving fans a preview of what is in store. (Deadline)
- We doubt anybody is surprised by this, but FX has renewed Atlanta for a third season. (Hollywood Reporter)
- Actor Robert Mandan, known for his role of Chester Tate on Soap, has died. (SitcomsOnline)
HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
- Fox is going to be very busy with numerous MOD releases in the upcoming weeks, including some that will be released on Tuesday (see the next section for details on those), as well as next week's releases of The Mick - The Complete First Season, The Mick - The Complete Second Season, Last Man Standing - The Complete Fifth Season, and Last Man Standing - The Complete Sixth Season.

- Fresh off the Boat - The Complete Fourth Season (DVD, $29.95): The ABC sitcom continues on DVD in this release.
- Life in Pieces - The Complete Third Season (DVD, $29.95): The third season of the CBS series arrives on DVD with this release.
- Portlandia - Season Eight (DVD, $13.99): The popular comedy series continues on DVD with this release.
- Speechless - The Complete First Season (DVD, $29.95) and Speechless - The Complete Second Season (DVD, $29.95): Both of the first two seasons of the ABC comedy arrive in this pair of MOD releases.
- Step by Step - The Complete First Season (DVD, $29.99): After a very long wait, the first season of the TGIF series arrives on DVD in this release.
- Will & Grace: The Revival - Season One (DVD, $29.98; Blu-ray, $34.98): The first season of the NBC revival of the series comes to DVD in this release.
WEEKLY PLANNER (JUNE 9 - JUNE 15)
- Laff has quietly replaced their nightly airings of Roseanne with Home Improvement, which wasn't supposed to begin airing on the network until September.
- ABC's summer Sunday night game show lineup kicks off tomorrow night.
- The second season of Marlon begins Thursday on NBC.
- The Ranch returns for the first half of season 3 on Netflix on Friday.
- This weekend's binge on Decades is Here Come the Brides.

When Colette runs into an old friend at the DMV, she pretends to be a fellow customer rather than an employee in order to save face.

When Ceci accuses Colette of only being kind for the credit, Colette anonymously gives Noa the perfect gift.
DMV - "Blindspot" (CBS, 9:00PM ET/PT) (Repeat)
Colette is crushed to learn that Noa is dating someone. So, Ceci encourages Colette to fight for him using magic. Meanwhile, Barb tries to find out who is defacing DMV property with childishly inappropriate drawings.
DMV - "There Is No I in DMV" (CBS, 9:30PM ET/PT) (Repeat)
Barb takes the team on a field trip to the rival North Hollywood branch to learn the secrets of their success. She begins to doubt herself after meeting their charismatic manager, Beau (Randall Park). Meanwhile, Gregg and Vic get in Colette’s head that Noa prefers risk-takers.
St. Denis Medical - "You're in His Bubble Space" (NBC, 8:00PM ET/PT)
Ron and Matt try to convince a child to get his shot; Alex helps Joyce with wedding planning; Bruce and Serena butt heads over Matt.
Stumble - "Pilot" (NBC, 8:30PM ET/PT) (Repeat)
Courteney Potter is fired from her job after being involved in a cheer scandal; to salvage her reputation and career, she must put together a competitive team in a tiny school with an unpronounceable name and only one cheerleader.
