SitcomsOnline Digest: Television Academy Hall of Fame Inductees Announced; Roswell Ready for Reboot

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This week, we're learning about new inductees to the Television Academy Hall of Fame, a reboot for a cult favorite that aired on The WB and UPN, and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
  • New inductees for the Television Academy Hall of Fame have been announced, and they include Shonda Rhimes as well as the original cast of Saturday Night Live. (Hollywood Reporter
  • NBC has canceled The Night Shift, after four seasons and 5 episodes. (Variety
  • It has been a decade since The WB and UPN merged to become The CW, and now it seems they may be having their first reboot baby, as Roswell (which originally aired on The WB before being canceled and moving to UPN) is being considered for a reboot on The CW. (Variety)
  • It didn't go unnoticed a few years ago when allegations against Bill Cosby were first revealed that 30 Rock had a scene a few years earlier that made those allegations in their fictional universe, and now, it seems the same series predicted the current events involving Harvey Weinstein on two separate occasions. (US Weekly)
  • Futurama (which was recently announced as heading to Syfy) is headed to Hulu on Monday. (SitcomsOnline)

Who to Follow: Marsha Warfield (Twitter), "Actress/Comedienne"
Claim to Fame: Marsha Warfield began her career as a writer and performer for The Richard Pryor Show, but she is best known for her role of Roz on the series Night Court. After Night Court, she moved on to Empty Nest, where she was a regular as Dr. Maxine Douglas in the final two seasons. Then, after Emtpy Nest, she seemed to have disappeared. She hasn't appeared in any TV series or movies since 1999 and has officially retired as a screen actress. But don't take that to mean that she is done with being a comedienne. If you happen to be in Las Vegas, you can see her, and quite often, as she does standup comedy every Wednesday and Thursday night, which her own website appropriately describes using the tagline "I've been here for years but yeah... call it a comeback." Occasionally, she takes the show on the road, and has one upcoming appearance in Washington D.C.
