Disney Channel Pays Tribute to Patty Duke; Sun Will Continue to Shine at FXX for At Least 3 More Seasons
Disney Channel will pay tribute to legendary actress Patty Duke with several airings of an episode of its sitcom Liv and Maddie that Duke guest starred in. Patty Duke is of course best known for her Oscar-winning role as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker as well as star of the 1960s sitcom The Patty Duke Show, died March 29. See our tribute. She appeared in an episode of Liv and Maddie titled "Grandma-A-Rooney" that originally aired on October 25, 2015 on Disney Channel. She played Grandma Janice. Disney will re-air the episode April 2, April 19 and April 28. In the series, identical twins Liv and Maddie Rooney (with each role played by Dove Cameron), a Hollywood star who has returned home to Wisconsin, and Maddie, a hometown basketball star, as they experience the highs and lows of high school, bothersome brothers and each other's differences. In addition to Cameron, it stars Joey Bragg and Tenzing Norgay Trainor as younger brothers Joey and Parker Rooney, respectively; Kali Rocha as mom, Karen Rooney; and Benjamin King as dad, Pete Rooney. The sitcom is currently in its third season.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been renewed for seasons 13 and 14 on FXX. With Season 14, Sunny will tie The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet as the longest-running live-action comedy series in television history. The previously announced season 12 will premiere in early 2017. The recently concluded 11th season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the #1 scripted comedy on basic and pay cable in Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 in CY2016. In addition, season 11 delivered the series' best ratings yet on FXX, including a double-digit gain in Total Viewers. On a Live+7 basis, average ratings for season 11 increased +8% for Adults 18-49 (1.1 million) and +13% for Total Viewers (1.4 million). Since its debut on FXX in 2013, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has increased its average viewership among Adults 18-49 by +17% and among Total Viewers by +24%. follows the misguided dreams and blundered schemes of everyone's favorite bar owners - The Gang at Paddy's Pub - Mac (Rob McElhenney), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Charlie (Charlie Day), Dee (Kaitlin Olson) and Frank (Danny DeVito).
