Fresh Prince Star Named New AFV Host; HBO Goes to The Brink for New Comedy
Sitcom actor and Dancing with the Stars Season 19 Champion, Alfonso Ribeiro (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Silver Spoons), was named new host of ABC's America's Funniest Home Videos, as announced last night by Tom Bergeron during the season finale of DWTS. ABC's longest-running primetime entertainment show, America's Funniest Home Videos, returns for season 26 this fall with the same mission – giving families something genuinely funny to enjoy together on Sunday nights. Along with a new host, the upcoming season will welcome an abundant supply of fresh clips to keep families laughing from coast to coast. In its 25 seasons to date, America's Funniest Home Videos has given away over $14 million in prize money and evaluated more than a million video clips from home viewers. AFV has become an iconic part of American pop culture, as evidenced by its entry into the Smithsonian’s permanent entertainment collection. Today, AFV is seen in 193 territories around the world, spreading American humor and clumsiness across the globe! Vin Di Bona is Executive Producer.
When a rogue general seizes control of Pakistan and its nuclear arsenal, the fate of the world rests on the shoulders of three improbable Americans: Secretary of State Walter Larson, lowly Foreign Service officer Alex Talbot and ace Navy fighter pilot Zeke Tilson. From the turbulent streets of the Middle East, to the White House situation room, to an aircraft carrier on the Red Sea, these three compromised souls must pull through the chaos around them to save the planet from World War Three. The epic dark comedy series The Brink focuses on a geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate, desperate men. The show's ten-episode season begins Sunday, June 21 at 10:30pm ET/PT, exclusively on HBO. The Brink stars Jack Black (Golden Globe nominee for School of Rock and Bernie) as Alex Talbot, Tim Robbins (Best Supporting Actor Oscar(R) winner for Mystic River, Best Director Oscar(R) nominee for Dead Man Walking) as Walter Larson and Pablo Schreiber (Law and Order: SVU, HBO's The Wire) as Zeke Tilson. Other series regulars include Aasif Mandvi (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart), Maribeth Monroe (Workaholics), Eric Ladin (The Killing, HBO's Boardwalk Empire), Esai Morales (NYPD Blue) and Geoff Pierson (Dexter). Additional cast members include John Larroquette, Carla Gugino, Mimi Kennedy, Melanie Kannokada, Marshall Manesh, Meera Syal, Erick Avari, Iqbal Theba, Rob Brydon, Michelle Gomez, Lamont Thompson, Bernard White, Jaimie Alexander and Mary Farber.
