Norman Lear Classics to Stream on Amazon Prime Video and IMDb TV; Cristela Alonzo to Host Hidden Temple on The CW
Prime Video and IMDb TV, Amazon's premium free streaming service, announced a licensing deal with Sony Pictures Television which will provide both streaming services a suite of classic television series from legendary producer Norman Lear. This collection marks the largest volume of Norman Lear complete series content ever available to stream. 227 and Diff'rent Strokes will launch on Prime Video today (Thursday, July 15), and will be available to Prime members at no additional cost to their membership. Additional titles including The Jeffersons, Sanford & Son and Sanford will launch on Prime Video later in 2021. In addition, All in the Family, Good Times, Maude and the original One Day at a Time will launch today (Thursday, July 15), on IMDb TV. This will be the first time that episodes of Maude and all seasons of All in the Family are available to stream.
At nearly 99 years of age, Norman Lear's dynamic career in Hollywood has encompassed both the Golden Age and Streaming Era. Lear and his team have captivated hundreds of millions of viewers with their television shows. At one point, Lear was responsible for seven of the top 10 shows in America. Most recently, Lear executive produces and co-hosts LIVE in Front of a Studio Audience... , alongside Jimmy Kimmel. The series set record ratings for ABC and won the Emmy award for Outstanding Variety Special for two consecutive years. In addition to television, he's the executive producer of two feature films in theaters now, I Carry You With Me and Rita Moreno: Just A Girl Who Decided to Go For It.
Writer, producer, actor and comedian Cristela Alonzo (Cristela, Cars 3) is set to host The CW's new fall series Legends of the Hidden Temple, slated to debut on Sunday, October 10 (8:00-9:00pm ET/PT). Alonzo made history in 2014 when she became the first Latina to create, produce and star in her own network sitcom, Cristela, for ABC. During that same year, she split her time between Los Angeles and New York City to serve as one of ABC's favorite guest hosts on their hit daytime talk show, The View. In 2017, Alonzo made history again when she became the first Latina lead in a Disney Pixar film when she voiced the part of Cruz Ramirez in Cars 3. Her first stand-up special, Lower Classy, is currently streaming on Netflix. Alonzo's memoir, Music to My Years, was released in October of 2019 by Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

73rd Emmy Awards Nominations; Showtime Orders Vanessa Bayer and Molly Shannon Comedy
Nominations for the 73rd Emmy® Awards were announced recognizing a wealth of innovative storytelling, exceptional new programs, and a robust and diverse group of talent nominees. The live virtual ceremony was hosted by father-daughter duo Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us) from Los Angeles and Jasmine Cephas Jones (Blindspotting) from New York along with Television Academy Chairman and CEO Frank Scherma. The Crown and The Mandalorian have tied for the top spot for program nominations with 24 followed by WandaVision (23), The Handmaid's Tale (21), Saturday Night Live (21), Ted Lasso (20), Lovecraft Country (18), The Queen's Gambit (18) and Mare of Easttown (16). HBO/HBO Max leads the nominations in totals by platform with 130. Netflix has the second-most nominations with 129, and rounding out the top four are Disney+ with 71 and NBC with 46.
Bridgerton, Lovecraft Country and The Boys are newcomers to the Outstanding Drama Series category, joining returning nominees Pose, The Crown, The Mandalorian, This Is Us and previous category winner The Handmaid's Tale. Seventy-five percent of this year's nominees for Outstanding Comedy Series are new to the category including Cobra Kai, Emily in Paris, Hacks, Pen15, Ted Lasso and The Flight Attendant. Returning favorites include black-ish and The Kominsky Method. The Emmys will be broadcast on Sunday, Sept. 19 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/5:00-8:00 PM, live PT) on the CBS Television Network and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. The 2021 Creative Arts Awards will be broadcast on Saturday, Sept. 18 (8:00 PM ET/PT) on FXX.
In total, there were 44 first-time performer nominations across the Lead, Supporting, Guest and Short Form categories this season. Jonathan Majors, Josh O'Connor and Regé-Jean Page received their first-ever Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series joining previous Emmy winners in this category Sterling K. Brown, Billy Porter and Matthew Rhys. Emma Corrin, Jurnee Smollett and Mj Rodriguez received their first nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, while previous Emmy winner Uzo Aduba was nominated for the first time in this category. They are joined by returning nominee Olivia Colman and previous Emmy winner in this category Elisabeth Moss. Kaley Cuoco received her first-ever Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, while previous Emmy winner Jean Smart and previous Emmy nominee Aidy Bryant were nominated for the first time in this category. They join previous Emmy nominee Tracee Ellis Ross and Emmy winner Allison Janney. Jason Sudeikis received his first-ever Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, while previous Emmy winner Kenan Thompson was nominated for the first time in this category. They join six-time nominee in the category Anthony Anderson, along with previous Emmy winners Michael Douglas and William H. Macy. Individuals with multiple nominations this year include David Attenborough, Sterling K. Brown, Aidy Bryant, Bo Burnham, Steven Canals, Dave Chapelle, Michaela Coel, Jon Favreau, Derek Hough, Brendan Hunt, Maya Rudolph, Jean Smart, Jason Sudeikis and Kenan Thompson.
SHOWTIME has picked up the half-hour comedy series I Love This For You, starring and executive produced by Emmy(R) nominee Vanessa Bayer (Saturday Night Live), along with fellow nominee Molly Shannon (The White Lotus, The Other Two) also leading the cast. Bayer co-created the series with Emmy nominee and two-time Peabody winner Jeremy Beiler (Saturday Night Live, Inside Amy Schumer, I Think You Should Leave), who will executive produce. Emmy and Peabody winner Jessi Klein (Inside Amy Schumer, Dead to Me, Transparent) will serve as showrunner and executive produce along with Michael Showalter (The Big Sick, Wet Hot American Summer).
Inspired by Bayer's own story of overcoming childhood leukemia, I Love This For You centers on Joanna Gold (Bayer) who dreams of becoming a host at a home-shopping channel. Working to shed her life-long label as "that cancer girl," she moves away from her parents, starts a budding romance for the first time in her adult life and forms a meaningful friendship with her idol Jackie, all against the backdrop of a highly competitive workplace run by an unstable billionaire, where people play dirty to succeed. Shannon appears as Jackie, the charismatic star of the network; Paul James (Soundtrack) as Jordan, a charming but dry stage manager; Ayden Mayeri (Homecoming) as Beth Ann, an ambitious insecure host; Matthew Rogers (Haute Dog) as Darcy, the ingratiating right-hand man to the CEO; and Emmy nominee Punam Patel (Special) as Beena, an offbeat backstage producer.

Emmy Awards Slated for Sep. 19, CBS Fall Premiere Dates; Remembering Charlie Robinson - Mac from Night Court
CBS and the Television Academy announced a return to a live show for the 73rd Emmy(R) Awards hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, star and executive producer of the CBS sitcom The Neighborhood, marking his first time as Master of Ceremonies for the event. CBS Presents the 73rd Emmy(R) Awards on Sunday, Sept. 19 from 8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/5:00-8:00 PM, live PT on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Emmy Award-nominated producers Reginald Hudlin and Ian Stewart will executive produce and Hamish Hamilton will direct the telecast for production companies Done+Dusted and Hudlin Entertainment. In addition, this year's telecast will return to a live, in-person Emmy Awards Ceremony at the Microsoft Theatre with a limited audience of nominees and their guests.
CBS premiere week opens Monday, Sept. 20 with the sitcoms The Neighborhood at 8:00 PM and Bob ♥ Abishola at 8:30 PM, leading into NCIS on its new night and time at 9:00 PM, followed by new spin-off NCIS: Hawai'i at 10:00 PM. All FBI Tuesday Debuts with a three-show cross-over event on Tuesday, Sept. 21, with FBI at 8:00 PM, and special times for FBI: Most Wanted at 9:00 PM and new entry FBI: International at 10:00 PM. The latter two will move to their normal timeslots (just swapping 9 and 10pm) the following week on Sep. 28. Survivor returns with two-hour premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 8:00 PM into a new Big Brother at 10. Every other launch is post premiere week, with Friday dramas S.W.A.T., Magnum P.I. and Blue Bloods to premiere on Oct. 1. New drama CSI: Vegas launches Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 10:00 PM following the season premiere of reality series Tough as Nails at 9pm. Spirited new comedy Ghosts premieres Thursday, Oct. 7 at 9:00 PM, following the season premieres of Young Sheldon and The United States of Al from 8-9pm. B Positive has its season premiere the same night at 9:30pm, while Bull Moves to its new night at 10:00 PM. Sunday's scripted lineup of The Equalizer, NCIS: Los Angeles and Seal Team Premieres Oct. 10 from 8-11pm. And finally, new Global Citizen reality series The Activist premieres Friday, Oct. 22 at 8:00 PM, replacing S.W.A.T. after three airings, but S.W.A.T. will return on Dec. 3. Specials include The Tony Aawards(R) Present: Broadway's Back on Sunday, Sept. 26 from 9-11pm.
Actor Charlie (Charles) Robinson, who was best known for his role as Macintosh "Mac" Robinson on Night Court, has died. He died on July 11 in Los Angeles, California, from cardiac arrest with multisystem organ failure due to septic shock and metastatic adenocarcinoma, a type of glandular cancer. Mr. Robinson was 75.
Robinson's first starring role was as Newdell on the 1983-1984 NBC sitcom Buffalo Bill. The series featured the misadventures of an egotistical talk show host named Bill Bittinger (Dabney Coleman) and his staff. Newdell was the makeup man at WBFL-TV, a small TV station in Buffalo, New York. The series also starred Joanna Cassidy, Max Wright, John Fielder, Geena Davis, Meshach Taylor and Claude Earl Jones.
After Buffalo Bill was canceled after two seasons, he joined the cast of the NBC sitcom Night Court for the second season in the fall of 1984 as Macintosh "Mac" Robinson. Mac was the clerk of the court and a Vietnam War veteran. He always wore a cardigan, plaid shirt, and knit tie. The successful series ran for nine seasons from 1984 to 1992. Robinson also directed three episodes of the series from 1990 to 1992. The cast included Harry Anderson, John Larroquette, Richard Moll, Selma Diamond (1984-1985), Florence Halop (1985-1986), Markie Post (1985-1992), Marsha Warfield (1986-1992), Karen Austin (1984), Paula Kelly (1984) and Ellen Foley (1984-1985). Anderson, Post and Robinson reprised their roles on the 2008 30 Rock episode, "The One with the Cast of Night Court".
Robinson starred as Abe Johnson on the 1992-1995 CBS sitcom Love & War. He joined the cast after John Hancock, who played bartender Ike Johnson, died of a heart attack on October 12, 1992. Abe was the surly brother of Ike. He was an out-of-work auto worker from Detroit, who showed up to claim his inheritance - Ike's shared of the Blue Shamrock restaurant/bar. Robinson also directed an episodes of the series in 1994. The cast included Jay Thomas, Susan Dey (1992-1993), Joel Murray, Michael Nouri, Suzie Plakson, Joanna Gleason and Annie Potts (1993-1995).
He starred as Ernie Trainor on the short-lived 1996-1997 CBS sitcom Ink. Ernie Trainor was the no-nonsense, seen-it-all police reporter at the New York Sun. The series also starred Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Alana Austin, Christine Ebersole, Saul Rubinek, Jenica Bergere and Jonathan Katz.
Robinson had a recurring role as Bud Harper, an owner of Binford, in nine episodes of Home Improvement from 1995 to 1999. He had a recurring role as Wilfred in 11 episodes of The Guest Book from 2017 to 2018. He played Mr. Munson, the blind tenant whom Bonnie avoids helping out with apartment issues, in seven episodes of Mom from 2015 to 2019. He made his final TV appearances on Freeform's Love in the Time of Corona in 2020.
Some of his other sitcom guest appearances included The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The John Larroquette Show, In the House, The Crew (1996), Malcolm & Eddie (2 episodes), Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place (2001), DAG, The Trouble with Normal, My Wife and Kids, Yes, Dear (2003), Abby, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, The Bernie Mac Show, Committed, Still Standing (2 episodes), My Name Is Earl and Hank. His guest appearances from 2010 and later included $#*! My Dad Says, The Soul Man, The Game (4 episodes), Reed Between the Lines (2 episodes), K.C. Undercover, Disjointed, Better Things and Raven's Home.
He had a recurring role as Phil in seven episodes of Flamingo Road in 1981. He played El Jefe in 13 episodes of Buddy Faro from 1998 to 2000. He appeared as Sergeant Jeffries in 16 episodes of Hart of Dixe from 2012 to 2015. Some of his other drama guest appearances included Caribe, The White Shadow, Lou Grant, Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, Hotel, Touched by an Angel, Soul Food, Charmed, House, Cold Case, The Riches, Big Love, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Harry's Law, Grey's Anatomy, This Is Us and NCIS.
Mr. Robinson was a solid and dependable actor. Mac Robinson was a very funny and likable character that he played to perfection. He was always one of the good guys on television. We thank him for the many laughs and entertainment he brought us during his career. He will be greatly missed.

Huge Star Joining Season 5 of Search Party on HBO Max; Late Night Talk Show Pause with Sam Jay to Return
Oscar(R) and Emmy Award(R) nominee Jeff Goldblum is joining the cast of the beloved comedy series Search Party for its fifth season. Goldblum will star in the recurring role of "Tunnel Quinn," a charismatic tech billionaire who enters a very public business partnership with Dory (Alia Shawkat) on the other side of her near death experience. Dory folds her old friends Portia (Meredith Hagner), Elliott (John Early) and Drew (John Reynolds) into the venture as they embark on an altruistic but terrifying journey. The Max Original Search Party is executive produced by Sarah-Violet Bliss, Charles Rogers, Michael Showalter, and Jax Media's Lilly Burns and Tony Hernandez. The first four seasons are currently available to stream on HBO Max.
HBO's late-night talk show series Pause with Sam Jay has been renewed for a second season. Season 1 debuted in May of this year. Season 1 of Pause with Sam Jay features a new take on the late-night talk show format and uses a fresh lens to plunge into the cultural issues that divide us. Season 1 episodes are currently available to stream on HBO Max.

Fri-Yay: CNN's History of the Sitcom Looks Like a Treat for Sitcom Fans; Rutherford Falls Renewed for 2nd Season; Remembering Suzzanne Douglas of The Parent 'Hood
It's time for another edition of Fri-Yay! That means we will take a look back on some sitcom happenings in recent days or weeks or other fun sitcomy stuff. It's a sitcom lover's paradise! Happy Fri-Yay!

The summer is usually a pretty slow time for sitcom news, but sitcom fans have an interesting treat starting this Sunday. CNN is airing an 8-part series History of the Sitcom, which is from the same producers who did the similar series The Story of Late Night. The show will walk viewers through 60 years of sitcoms on TV, from The Dick Van Dyke Show to The Brady Bunch to The Office. According to CNN's own description of the event, the show will "explores the genre through multiple lenses, including themes of family and sex." The first two episodes will air back-to-back on Sunday.
It will be interesting to see how the show deals with the many changing faces of the sitcom through the years. In recent years, the genre of "sitcom" has become more open-ended. For years, it meant a series with a live audience or a laugh track, but obviously that has changed in the past 20 years, to the point where most sitcoms now are single-camera and ditch the laugh track. The show will also talk about modern comedies like Insecure or Master of None, which may not fit the typical "sitcom" feel but still often comedy and interesting viewpoints to their viewers. If you're interested in the evolution of the sitcom, CNN's History of the Sitcom seems like a good choice for you.
Critically-acclaimed Peacock Original comedy series Rutherford Falls from Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, has been renewed for a second season. Rutherford Falls represents a breakthrough moment in Native representation in comedy television both in front of and behind the camera. The series is a comedy about two lifelong best friends, Nathan Rutherford (Ed Helms) and Reagan Wells (Jana Schmieding), who find themselves at a crossroads - quite literally - when their sleepy town gets an unexpected wakeup call. The series stars Ed Helms (The Office, The Hangover), Jana Schmieding, Michael Greyeyes (I Know This Much Is True), Jesse Leigh (Heathers) and Dustin Milligan (Schitt's Creek).
Rutherford Falls is one of the largest Indigenous writer's rooms on television with five Native writers staffed on the series including co-creator and executive producer Sierra Teller Ornelas (Navajo), Bobby Wilson (Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota), Tai Leclaire(Kanien'kehá:ka [Mohawk Nation]/Mi'kmaq), Jana Schmieding (Cheyenne River Lakota Sioux), and Tazbah Chavez (Bishop Paiute/Diné/San Carlos Apache). Jana Schmieding (Cheyenne River Lakota Sioux) and Michael Greyeyes ([Nêhiyaw (Plains Cree) from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation - Treaty Six Territory in Saskatchewan]) star in the series.
Actress Suzzanne Douglas, who was best known for her role as matriarch Jerri Peterson on The WB sitcom The Parent 'Hood, has died. She died on July 6 at her home on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. She had been suffering from pancreatic cancer in the two years leading up to her death. Ms. Douglas was 64.
Douglas starred as Jerri Peterson on The WB sitcom The Parent' Hood, which aired from 1995 to 1999. The series is about the Petersons, an upper-middle-class black family in Harlem, New York City. Jerri Peterson is a law student and mother of four kids. It ran for five seasons and 90 episodes. The series also starred Robert Townsend, Kenny Blank (seasons 1-3), Reagan Gomez-Preston, Curtis Williams, Ashli Adams, Bobby McGee (season 1), Carol Woods (season 1), Faizon Love (seasons 2-4), Tyrone Dorzell Burton (seasons 4-5) and Kelly Perine (season 5).
Some of her sitcom guest appearances included The Cosby Show as Rebecca Shorter in 1990, The Parkers in 1999 and 2000 (2 episodes as Constance McFarland) and Are We There Yet? in 2011.
She starred as Yvette Carruthers on the 1990-1991 Fox dramedy Against the Law. She played Grace Cuffe on the 2019 Netflix crime drama miniseries When They See Us. Some of her other drama credits included Guiding Light, A Man Called Hawk, I'll Fly Away (3 episodes), Angel Street, Touched by an Angel (2 episodes), NYPD Blue, Promised Land (4 episodes), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Good Wife, Bones and Bull.
Douglas starred with Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis Jr. in the 1989 film Taps. She played Cissy Houston in the 2015 Lifetime TV movie Whitney. Some of her other film credits included The Inkwell (1994), Jason's Lyric (1994) and How Stella Got Her Groove Back (1998).
Ms. Douglas was a talented and versatile actress. She was very funny as the mother on The Parent 'Hood. We thank her for the laughs and entertainment. She will be deeply missed.

COZI TV Acquires 3rd Rock from the Sun and Quincy, M.E. This Summer; The Standups to Return to Netflix After Long Hiatus
This summer COZI is going out of this world with the addition of 3rd Rock from the Sun and also with Jack Klugman in Quincy, M.E. this July! Quincy, M.E. actually had a soft launch on Saturday, July 3 at 12pm & 1pm, replacing two-hours of Starsky & Hutch and is airing weekly in this time period. Not to worry, Starsky & Hutch is still two hours, but is now 2-4pm leading into Charlie's Angels from 4-6pm. Back to 3rd Rock, COZI TV announced the national multicast network has acquired digital broadcast rights to the series. The iconic, Emmy Award-winning comedy series will launch on COZI TV on Sunday, July 18 with a special marathon and join the network's regular lineup the next day on July 19 as the sitcom celebrates its landmark 25th anniversary.
Featuring an all-star ensemble cast led by John Lithgow, Jane Curtin, Kristen Johnston, French Stewart and a young, up-and-coming Joseph Gordon-Levitt, along with a who's who of major guest stars, 3rd Rock joins a 24-hour lineup of TV's all-time best shows and pop culture favorites on COZI TV's network of 147 affiliates reaching more than 109 million homes and 90 percent of the country – including all top-10 U.S. television markets – as well as DISH Network (channel 252), fuboTV, HuluLive and YouTubeTV. COZI TV will mark the launch of 3rd Rock on July 18 with a special 10-hour marathon of all 20 first season episodes, the COZI TV 3rd Rock-a-thon, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET. The following day, July 19, 3rd Rock will begin airing its regular COZI TV weekday and weekend time slots covering eight hours per week – Mondays through Fridays from 7 to 8 p.m. ET and Sundays from 5 to 7 p.m. ET and 11 p.m. to midnight ET. Looking at the rest of the changes beginning on Monday, July 19, weekday mornings at 9am & 10am, The Six Million Dollar Man replaces an airing each of Charlie's Angels and The Bionic Woman. Then at 11am, Emergency! replaces The Six Million Dollar Man to air back-to-back from 11am-1pm. New addition Quincy, M.E. joins the weekday lineup at 1pm & 2pm replacing an airing of Emergency! and Highway to Heaven. Then up next at 3pm, Little House on the Prairie replaces Highway to Heaven. In the evenings, The Munsters moves up to 6pm & 6:30pm replacing Little House on the Prairie, while new addition 3rd Rock from the Sun replaces The Munsters at 7pm & 7:30pm. If you're wondering Charlie's Angels and The Bionic Woman are off of the weekday schedule but remain airing on Saturdays, while Highway to Heaven will remain on Sundays. And not to worry, Frasier and Roseanne will continue to air in their primetime slots. Moving onto Sundays, starting July 25. The aforementioned Highway to Heaven replaces My Favorite Martian at 6am & 7am, as Martian is now off of the schedule completely. 3rd Rock from the Sun will air a block from 5pm-7pm replacing The Office. In Sunday late night, 3rd Rock will air in the 11pm hour, while The Nanny replaces Will & Grace from 12-2am, but Will & Grace slides to 2-4am replacing The Office. If you're keeping score, The Office binge on Sundays is now reduced to 11am-5pm.
The Standups is returning to Netflix with season 3 with an all-new lineup. Comics Brian Simpson, Dusty Slay, Janelle James, Mark Normand, Melissa Villaseñor and Naomi Ekperigin are all on tap for the new season. The first two seasons aired in 2017 and 2018, so it's been quiet a while since the show has aired. It takes time and hard work for comics to reach the point of their careers where they are household names -- if they ever achieve that stature. Prior to reaching that level of fame, comics usually spend a lot of time in comedy clubs honing their craft and trying to get noticed by others in the industry who can help boost their profile. A big step in gaining a higher profile is getting a TV special. The Standups gives some of comedy's freshest voices such a stage. Each half-hour episode of the Netflix-original series showcases an up-and-coming comic. Comedy's freshest voices take the stage in LA for half-hour specials packed with sly jokes, hilarious anecdotes and awkward confessions.

Antenna TV has announced on Saturday, July 10 from 5-10pm, AnTENna TV's Birthday Party continues with a ten episode marathon of fan favorite I Dream of Jeannie, #7 on their fan poll list. Of course when Antenna TV turned 10 on Jan. 1 they aired an hour each of their top 10 most popular shows (in order from #1 to #10: Bewitched, Three's Company, The Facts of Life, Who's the Boss?, Hazel, Family Ties, I Dream of Jeannie, Alice, The Jeffersons and That Girl). The Max Original comedy series Our Flag Means Death has added Ewen Bremner, David Fane, Joel Fry, Guz Khan and Matt Maher to the cast. Our Flag Means Death is loosely based on the true adventures of Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby), a pampered aristocrat who abandoned his life of privilege to become a pirate. The series also stars the previously announced Academy Award(R) winner Taika Waititi as "Blackbeard," history's most feared and revered pirate. Additionally, the ensemble cast includes Kristian Nairn, Nathan Foad, Samson Kayo, Rory Kinnear, Con O'Neill and Vico Ortiz.

Netflix Cancels 4 Sitcoms Including Kevin James Series; HBO Max's Pretty Little Liars Casts Two Leads
Netflix has canceled four comedies, including two freshman sitcoms. Netflix will remain in business with several stars, though. Freshman multi-camera sitcoms The Crew starring Kevin James and Country Comfort starring Katharine McPhee & Eddie Cibrian are two that got axed after one season, while single-camera comedy Bonding with Zoe Levin and multi-camera sitcom Mr. Iglesias starring Gabriel Iglesias have been canceled after two seasons. But three of those comedies have talent or producers to develop other projects. Kevin James is developing a single-camera comedy series with the streaming service to produce and star in, while Bonding creator Rightor Doyle has closed a development deal with the service and Gabriel Iglesias has a new stand-up comedy special slated to shoot this summer to air later this yrar only on Netflix.
HBO Max has added Chandler Kinney and Maia Reficco to the Max Original Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. Lisa Soper (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) will direct the first two episodes of the series from Warner Bros. Television. Chandler Kinney (Zombies 2, Lethal Weapon) will play "Tabby," an aspiring director and horror movie buff. Like the other Little Liars, Tabby's hiding a secret. Maia Reficco (Strangers, Evita, Kally's Mashup) will play "Noa," a striving, sardonic track star who's working hard to get her life back to normal after a summer spent in juvenile detention. Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls - a brand-new set of Little Liars - find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago...as well as their own. In the dark, coming-of-age, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe - in a brand-new town, with a new generation of Little Liars.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is from executive producer/writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and co-executive producer/writer Lindsay Calhoon Bring (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina). The series is produced by Aguirre-Sacasa's Muckle Man Productions and Alloy Entertainment (Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries, You) in association with Warner Bros. Television. We hope you had a great 4th of July yesterday! Fans of Darren Star's hit Younger will be able to relive the magic of the series' first six seasons with a limited-edition vinyl 14 track soundtrack album in limited edition "Pink Glitter" vinyl. The digital album, in partnership with Lakeshore Records, will be available across all retailers starting today. Limited physical quantities will be available for purchase in the Lakeshore home store starting July 16th, and then available across all retailers on August 20th.
Inspired by the die-hard fans' love for the music throughout the series, The Younger TV Land Series Soundtrack captures beloved moments throughout the show's six seasons through music, including two exclusive never-before-released songs: "9 to 5 cast recording" and "Save Us" by Anna Dellaria and Chris Alan Lee. The Younger vinyl soundtrack joins the weekly Younger podcast 'Younger Uncovered', the weekly after-show 'Getting Younger' and the Simon & Schuster books Marriage Vacation and The Miseducation of Henry Cane as part of the expanding Younger's media portfolio. The final season of award-winning creator Darren Star's critically acclaimed series Younger returns to TV Land on Wednesday, July 7 with a two episode back-to-back linear premiere at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. The seventh season debuted on Paramount+, ViacomCBS' premium streaming platform.
Younger follows Liza Miller (Sutton Foster), a talented editor navigating the highly competitive world of publishing while juggling the complications of mixing business with pleasure, and facing the lie she created about her age to land her dream job. In the final season, Liza's personal life is on shaky ground as she tries to stay true to herself. After a setback at work, Kelsey (Hilary Duff) doubts her career decisions and discovers a new creative outlet. Maggie (Debi Mazar) gets cancelled.
WaterTower Music is excited to announce the release of the Seinfeld Soundtrack featuring music by the show's composer Jonathan Wolff. The music was carefully selected by Wolff with the fans in mind, and has never been available for public consumption until now. Fans of the show will recognize the tracks which are named after some of the popular scenes and episodes that they were featured in including “Cable Guy vs. Kramer,” “Jerry Vs. Newman Chase.” etc. “Often, soundtrack albums include brilliant masterpieces of musical artistry and compelling, momentous film score suites,” says Wolff. “Yeah, there’ll be none of that. This music was created to peg the funny meters. Each track evokes a favorite scene. My opus magnum is a ‘Big Daddy Pimpwalk.’ Seinfeld fans only, please.”
Wolff created the music for 75 primetime network series including Will & Grace, Married with Children, Reba, Who's the Boss?, Saved by the Bell: The College Years, but is best known for his iconic Seinfeld music. This is his first soundtrack album. “It was 30 years in the making,” Wolff told Variety, and “is the only one I’ve ever wanted to make." Now retired, he thrills concert and lecture audiences with wonderful insider stories and Q/A's about his remarkable Hollywood career including Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- Netflix had a good start with sitcoms, but now they've announced the cancellation of several of the more recent ones, including The Crew and Mr. Iglesias. (Deadline)
- Telma Hopkins has been cast in the pilot for Dangerous Moms, a dark dramedy for NBC. (Deadline)
- When Saturday Night Live returns in the fall, it could be without some key cast members (although to be fair, we've heard similar rumblings in past seasons when all of the ones whom were thought to be on the way out came back after all). (Vanity Fair)
- NBC's plans for after the Olympics seem to have backfired explosively, so to speak, as an outbreak of explosive diarrhea shut down production of Ultimate Slip 'N Slide and created enough issues for the network to pull the premiere from the schedule. (People)
- Bill Cosby was unexpectedly released from prison this week as his conviction was overturned (though we don't exactly expect to see him return to TV in any way), but as it turns out, it seems Phylicia Rashad made more news from the incident than Cosby did for reasons that she says she now regrets. (CNN)
- Disney+ is taking advantage of two distinct properties, The Simpsons and Marvel, to create a new short that will debut on Wednesday. (SitcomsOnline)

- Although 4th of July marathons aren't nearly as special as they once were since most TV stations like to "binge" shows now anyway, Antenna TV has a day of The Jeffersons on Sunday.
- Syfy has given up on their annual marathons of The Twilight Zone, but Decades is continuing the trend with their own binge of it this weekend.
- HBO Max has the reboot of Gossip Girl coming on Thursday.
- Big Brother is still very much alive, and will return for an unbelievable 23rd season on Tuesday on CBS.
- The final season of Younger debuts Tuesday on TV Land.
- The fourth season of Grown-ish comes to Freeform on Thursday.
