New First-Run Syndicated Sitcoms Airing in Weekend Primetime Block; Antenna TV's Movie Hero Marathon
Entertainment Studios, Inc. the largest independent producer and distributor of first-run syndicated television programming for broadcast television stations, and owner of seven 24-hour HD television networks proudly announces that Tribune, Weigel and CBS Television Station Groups have given a firm "go" to carry both The First Family and Mr. Box Office as part of a two-hour primetime weekend comedy block, which has been cleared in over 85% of U.S. television homes. Both sitcoms will air two half-hours, back-to-back, creating a two-hour primetime sitcom block. Each sitcom has an initial order of 104 episodes — for a total of 208 episodes for the primetime comedy block.
We have mentioned both of these comedies already (The First Family and Mr. Box Office), but now we know that it will be in at least 85% of the country on weekends in local syndication. There might be a cable pick-up too, so stay tuned for that news. Also stay with us for a list of local affiliates airing these two new comedies. So if your market has a Tribune, Weigel or CBS Television Station Group station, then you're looking good to see these two sitcoms this fall! The First Family is a sitcom about an African-American family that resides in The White House. It features an all-star cast including Christopher B. Duncan (The Jamie Foxx Show), Kellita Smith (The Bernie Mac Show), Gladys Knight (Dancing with the Stars), Jackee Harry (227, Sister Sister), John Witherspoon (The Wayans Bros.), Marla Gibbs (The Jeffersons, 227), and Michael D. Roberts (Seinfeld). Mr. Box Office is a sitcom about one of the world's biggest movie stars, who is sentenced to community service teaching English at an inner-city high school in South Central Los Angeles. It features an all-star cast including Bill Bellamy, Jon Lovitz, Vivica A. Fox, Keshia Knight Pulliam (The Cosby Show), Rick Fox, Gary Busey, Alex Thomas, Tony T. Roberts, and Tim Meadows (SNL).
This Memorial Day, Antenna TV salutes the toughest soldiers to serve on the silver screen with a full day "Movie Hero" Marathon on Memorial Day - Monday, May 28. Antenna TV, which airs on 61 affiliates across the U.S. reaching 58% of TV households, will air the best battles from sun up to sun down with 10 classic war movies. Antenna TV's Movie Hero Marathon on Memorial Day will feature: Hellcats of the Navy (1957), Battle of the Coral Sea (1959), Mission Over Korea (1953), All The Young Men (1960), The Mountain Road (1960), King Rat (1965), Bitter Victory (1958), Sahara (1943), Castle Keep (1969) and Anzio (1968) -- from 5am-2am ET. Nick at Nite's New Series Hollywood Heights Premieres June 18; CBS Renews Rules of Engagement for 7th Season
Nick at Nite adds sizzle to summer weeknights with the debut of the original primetime drama Hollywood Heights on Monday, June 18, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT). Adapted for a U.S. audience from the wildly popular Mexican telenovela Alcanzar una Estrella, Hollywood Heights follows the journey of a teenage girl whose life changes drastically when she becomes a star and wins the love of her rock and roll idol, and both are tested by setbacks, heartbreak and deception. The first season of the 80-episode series, co-produced with Televisa in association with Sony Pictures Television, will air weeknights at 9 p.m. through October 2012. On May 30, NickatNite.com will launch its Hollywood Heights show site, which will include a 'Character Connection' section for viewers to get to know the new series' characters. After the series launch, the site will feature Hollywood Heights highlights with teasers for upcoming episodes, and recaps of the show's best moments. Beginning June 1, the first episode of Hollywood Heights will be available for streaming on NickatNite.com, Facebook, and Nick@Nite On Demand -- all before the premiere on June 21! The first episode will also be available for free on iTunes beginning June 4. Additionally, the first five episodes of Hollywood Heights will be available for free download on iTunes, and streaming on Nick@Nite On Demand prior to its June 18 premiere. Hollywood Heights centers on Loren Tate (Brittany Underwood, One Life to Live), a shy teen whose musical aspirations inch closer to reality when she wins a songwriting contest sponsored by Eddie Duran (Cody Longo, Fame), a rock star at the top of his game. Although Loren and Eddie's budding partnership - on-stage and off - faces obstacles, their strong family bonds inspire them to keep going. Loren finds the support system she needs in her single mom, Nora (Jama Williamson, Parks and Recreation), as Nora returns to the dating scene for the first time in years. Meanwhile Eddie's unbreakable bond with his father, Max (Carlos Ponce, Couples Retreat, telenovela actor/singer) - strengthened by family tragedy - is challenged by Eddie's budding romance with a beautiful, but manipulative model and aspiring actress, Chloe Carter (Melissa Ordway, 17 Again). As Loren begins a meteoric rise on the music scene and Eddie's star begins to fade, together they learn that the road to love and stardom often carries a heavy price tag. Justin Wilczynski (Kaya) also stars as Eddie's bitter former friend, Tyler Rorke. Actor James Franco will star in a multi-episode arc as Osborne "Oz" Silver, an eccentric movie mogul who lives life to the fullest, often outrageously. Offbeat, seductive and ruthless when he has to be, Oz adores making movies and does whatever it takes to make the films he wants.
Looks like it will get yet another mid-season birth. Rules of Engagement will return for a seventh season next mid-season (2013) on CBS and that will be the fifth time in seven seasons it will premiere in mid-season. The last two seasons the series premiered in the fall, though last season it was delayed until late October. The series will return for 13 episodes next season, which will bring it up to the magic 100 episode mark. It was already sold in syndication, so it isn't coming back to just make it to syndication, but this will add on to that total number of episodes. The series premieres in local syndication (such as WPIX, KCAL, WCIU) and cable (WGN America) this fall (2012) five days a week from Sony Pictures Television! Rules will be on the bench just in case any comedy fails or if it is needed elsewhere. CBS has only ordered two new comedies: Partners for fall and Friend Me for mid-season.
The series is a comedy about the different phases of male/female relationships, as seen through the eyes of an engaged couple, Adam and Jennifer; a long-time married pair, Jeff and Audrey; a single guy on the prowl, Russell; and his office assistant, Timmy. As they find out, the often-confusing stages of a relationship can seem like being on a roller coaster: people can describe them to you, but to really know what it's like, you have to take a ride for yourself. Starring Patrick Warburton, Megyn Price, Oliver Hudson, Bianca Kajlich, with David Spade and Adhir Kalyan.

The Hub Acquires ALF, Lois & Clark; Nick at Nite Brings Back Brady Bunch
This June, The Hub TV will add two fan-favorite, live-action series, the '80s sitcom ALF (Monday, June 4) and '90s drama Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (Sunday, June 3) to its primetime program lineup, both from Warner Bros. Television. With strong and devoted fan bases for both shows, the newly acquired series will join the current primetime schedule that features Mork & Mindy, Happy Days, Sabrina The Teenage Witch and The Facts of Life, building on The Hub's successful strategy of presenting programming based on beloved properties in the kids and family entertainment space. Beginning Sunday June 3, the new primetime schedule of popular series will be aired in marathon blocks. Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman will air Sundays from 8-11 p.m. ET in primetime. On Mondays it will be Mork & Mindy from 9-11 p.m. ET. On Tuesdays it is Happy Days from 9-11 p.m. ET. Wednesdays will feature The Facts of Life from 9-11 p.m. ET. And on Thursdays, it is Sabrina, The Teenage Witch from 9-11 p.m. ET. New acquisition ALF will air weekdays at 8:30 p.m. ET leading into the sitcom blocks every Mon-Thurs. ALF will also encore Mon-Thurs nights at 2:30 a.m. ET leading into encores of the sitcom marathons from 3-5 a.m. ET. On Sundays, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman will have an immediate encore from 11pm-2am. Back to Mon-Thurs, Laverne & Shirley and Batman will remain in the 11pm hour, with an encore at 5am. So many good shows and something for everyone.
As for the sitcoms not airing weeknights and sitcoms late nights on weekends, The Wonder Years is getting a better slot on Friday and Saturday nights, airing 1:00am & 1:30am ET. An episode each of Doogie Howser M.D. and Family Ties will remain at 2:00am & 2:30am, and this includes Sunday nights as well. At 3am & 3:30am Fri-Sun nights, we now have an hour of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, replacing an episode each of Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley. And since Wonder Years moves to 1am on Fri-Sat nights, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids will air at 4am on Fri-Sat nights. Also on Fri-Sat nights, we have more Batman at 5am & 5:30am. Sunday nights from 4-6am will remain children's shows. On just Friday nights, Mork & Mindy will air 11pm & 11:30pm leading into an hour of Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley.
ALF follows the adventures of Gordon Shumway, a furry, wise-cracking alien from the planet Melmac who crash lands into the garage of the Tanner family. The Tanners offer him a home and give him the nickname ALF, short for "Alien Life Form." Moving on, Nick at Nite is bringing back The Brady Bunch! The sitcom will return tonight (technically early Tuesday morning) at approx 5:02am & 5:34am. Two episodes will air every morning, except on Sunday nights (Monday mornings) it will only air once at approx. 5:02am, as Glenn Martin airs approx. 5:34am. The Brady Bunch is replacing Family Matters, which is now off the schedule completely. Steve Urkel and the Winslow's have been a staple on Nick at Nite for about four years now. No word on if and when Family Matters will return. As for The Brady Bunch, it looks like it is returning to the Viacom network family, as it has aired on Nick at Nite and TV Land before. The last time Viacom aired Brady Bunch was in late May 2010 on TV Land, as looks like it has gotten another contract at Viacom now. The Brady Bunch will still remain on cable on INSP and on digital broadcast on MeTV Network. But if you don't get those, you can now watch them every morning on Nick at Nite!
There are some other schedule changes to report as well effective tonight (Monday, May 21, 2012). Yes, Dear will move to Sun-Thurs at 8:00pm & 8:30pm. This means Friends' two-hour block is now back to back-to-back airing every night from 11pm-1am. That '70s Show will now move to Sun-Fri 9:00pm & 9:30pm, shifting George Lopez back to its 10:00pm & 10:30pm stomping yard. Yes, Dear will air on Saturday nights at 10:00pm & 10:30pm, though. As for late nights, approx. 1:12am & 1:46am will be George Lopez encores every night except Sunday nights will have That '70s Show. At approx. 2:18am, Everybody Hates Chris will remain Mon-Fri nights. Yes, Dear will air on Sat-Sun nights. At approx. 2:51am, Yes, Dear will air every night. At approx. 3:22am, we have another Yes, Dear Mon-Fri nights, while Saturday nights as That '70s Show and Sunday nights have The Nanny. At approx. 3:56am, it's The Nanny every night except on Saturday nights it is That '70s Show . At. approx 4:30am every night is The Nanny still. And The Brady Bunch closes the night out with two airings every morning (once on Sunday nights), as we mentioned. The 6am hour is back to Nickelodeon programming now. Week 35 TV Ratings and Analysis; How the Sitcoms Did
2011-12 Week 35 TV Ratings (first four nights final ratings, Mon-Thu):
Week 35 (May 14-20) Analysis: Week 35 is the final full week of the season, as we week 36 will only be the first three nights. Through the the first four nights in week 35, Fox has the slight edge over CBS again in 18-49. ABC is third, while NBC is in fourth. In HH/viewers, CBS is on top over Fox, with ABC and NBC trailing. When the week is over by tonight, it could be the same as this, but I expect ABC to make a run for second in 18-49 over CBS and possibly in HH/viewers over Fox. More on the prediction of week 35 below. As for last week, week 34, Fox and CBS tied for the 18-49 crown again, while CBS again took home HH/total viewers. ABC was second in HH/viewers, but third in 18-49, while Fox was third in HH/viewers. And that left NBC fourth across the board again. NBC still could finish the season in fourth place in 18-49 even with the Super Bowl? They could give up its third place lead (only a tenth right now) to ABC by this Wednesday, the last night of the season.
On Monday, it was CBS with the win as NBC doesn't have The Voice now. First, on ABC, Dancing with the Stars started it off from 8-9:30pm doing a first place 15.79 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, but down a tenth from previous week when it aired 8-10pm. From 9:30-11pm, The Bachelorette had its season premiere doing a solid 8.05 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, holding its lead-in ratings, solid. For CBS, How I Met Your Mother had its one-hour season finale, as 2 Broke Girls had it the previous week, doing 8.58 million and a 3.7 18-49 rating, up four tenths from previous week's Broke finale. The season finale of Two and a Half Men followed at 9 with 11.55 million and a 3.9 rating, the best of the block as usual and up a tenth from previous week. The season finale of Mike & Molly was next and did 11.79 million and a 3.4 18-49 rating, up four tenths week-to-week. Better total viewers thanks to no Dancing head-to-head. At 10, the season finale of Hawaii Five-0 did 11.42 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, which is up four tenths from previous week's series low. Fox started off the night with the Bones season finale doing 7.21 million and a 1.9 rating, on par with the previous week. House was new at 9 with 6.45 million and a 2.2 rating, up a tenth from previous week. The series finale is tomorrow night. Will it get any bump? NBC started it off with a two-hour premiere of America's Got Talent and did 10.48 million and a 3.7 18-49 rating, which was down a tenth from previous week's The Voice Monday finale. Still good, but this show should be better. Then at 10pm the finale of critical darling Smash was next doing 5.96 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, which was on par with previous week's series low. It's coming back for a second season anyway, but either late fall or mid-season. The CW aired the season finale of Gossip Girl and did just 1.14 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating, but actually up two tenths from previous week's series low. The season finale of Hart of Dixie followed with 1.6 million and a 0.6 rating, on par with previous week.
On Tuesday, it was CBS with the win again. NCIS at 8 started it off with the season finale doing 19.05 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating, up half a point from previous week. Then the two-hour NCIS: Los Angeles season finale from 9-11pm did 15.19 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, on par with previous week. ABC aired a special Cougar Town at 8 and did only 3.31 million and a 1.0 18-49 rating, no where near Last Man Standing the previous week. Another Cougar Town followed and did 3.22 million and a 1.0 18-49 rating, down five tenths week-to-week. Officially returning for a fourth season, but on TBS. At 9pm, the live Dancing with the Stars: The Results did 13.23 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week, as we said goodbye to Maria Menounos. The finals start tomorrow. Next at 10pm, was the season finale of Private Practice on its new night doing 6.81 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, up four tenths from previous week's series low when it was heavily hurt by The Voice finale on NBC. Fox aired a new Glee doing 6.09 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week. New Girl was preempted, as Fox aired another new Glee doing 6.03 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating. NBC was next with the night two of America's Got Talent doing 10.58 million and a 3.4 18-49 rating, down a full point from previous week's Voice finale and three tenths from night one the previous night. At 10, the finale of Fashion Star did 4.81 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, as this show will return (and get crushed) next mid-season on Sundays at 8. The CW had the season finale of 90210 doing only 980,000 viewers and a 0.5 18-49 rating, which was down a tenth from the previous week. Then at 9pm, a new episode of LA Complex did just 530,000 viewers and a 0.2 18-49 rating, on par with the previous week. What a disaster!
Wednesday it was all Fox with the win as CBS was a distant second. First, CBS started the night off with two comedy repeats. Mike & Molly aired at 8 doing 4.35 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, followed by Rules of Engagement at 8:30pm doing only 3.93 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating. Then from 9-11pm, the season finale of Criminal Minds did 13.68 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating, up seven tenths from previous week's series low. ABC was all-new for its Laugh On comedy block, as a new The Middle started it off doing 6.53 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, on par with previous week as it could be better but spring has hampered it a bit. Suburgatory followed with its season finale at 8:30pm doing 5.35 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, down three tenths from previous week for a low. Odd. The mega hit Modern Family was next at 9pm with a new episode and it did 9.36 million and a 3.9 18-49 rating, which was down five tenths from previous week, very strange. At 9:30pm, week six of the hilarious Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23 was all-new and did 4.73 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, but down four tenths from previous week. At 10pm the addicting Revenge was new and did 6.9 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week. Really strange night for ABC, season finales air this Wednesday! Fox aired American Idol from 8-10pm doing 17.68 million and a 4.9 18-49 rating, up four tenths from previous week but still good for #1 for the week again. NBC opened the night with a new Betty White's Off Their Rockers doing 5.18 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. Another all-new episode followed at 8:30pm and did a similar 5.52 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week. Will return next season in mid-season again. At 9pm, a repeat of Law & Order: SVU at 9pm did 2.86 million and a 0.8 18-49, up a tenth from previous week's Rock Center though. And at 10pm, a new Law & Order: SVU did 5.56 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. If it can't do much at 10, why will it air at 9pm next fall? The CW had a repeat of Top Model start it off at 8pm doing 760,000 viewers and a 0.4 18-49 rating, up a tenth week-to-week. A new America's Next Top Model followed at 9 and did 1.16 million and a 0.5 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week.
Thursday it was Fox over ABC. Starting with ABC, they opened the night with the finale of Missing doing 6.53 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week's series low. Would make a nice summer series. At 9pm, the season finale of Grey's Anatomy aired doing 11.44 million and a 4.1 18-49 rating, up six tenths from previous week for the best in scripted TV for the week. Awesome season finale! At 10pm, the season finale of Scandal did 7.33 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, up four tenths from previous week for a series high. This show could be big next season as it has plenty of buzz. CBS started with a repeat (in sweeps?!) of The Big Bang Theory doing 8.49 million and 2.5 18-49 rating. The finale of Rules of Engagement did 7.17 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, down six tenths from previous week. The season finale of Person of Interest aired next at 9 and did 13.47 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week as it got crushed by Grey's. Could be better and we know it can do better. The Mentalist was next at 10 for its season finale too and did 13.09 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week as it heads to Sundays at 10 this fall. Fox aired American Idol at 8 doing 16.4 million and a 4.4 18-49 rating, up four tenths from previous week. Then the finale of Touch at 9 did 6.02 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week for a series low. It's back next season anyway, but on Fridays. NBC was all-new with a new Community up first doing 2.97 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, which is down a tenth from previous week tying its series low. Fridays seems very weird for this show next fall. At 8:30pm, 30 Rock had its season finale at 8:30pm and did 2.84 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. Really, time to end it after six seasons but it is back next season for the finale 13 episodes. NBC preempted The Office for another Community and did just 2.61 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, down a full point from previous week's Office. Yikes. At 9:30pm Parks & Recreation was preempted as NBC aired another episode of Community, this time its season finale, and did just 2.48 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, down four tenths from previous week's Parks and ties its series low. At 10pm, week twelve of Awake is dead in the ratings as it did 2.1 million and a 0.7 18-49 rating, down two tenths week-to-week, tying its low. It's canceled anyway, but finale is this week. The CW's big gun Vampire Diaries was preempted at 8 for a Perez Hilton All Access: Katy Perry special and did only 800,000 viewers and a 0.3 18-49 rating, down nine tenths from previous week's Vampire. Then at 9pm, drama The Secret Circle was preempted too, as they aired a repeat of Vampire Diaries and did only 600,000 viewers and a 0.2 18-49 rating.
Now, final numbers for Friday and Saturday are not available, but ABC and NBC tred for the Friday win. Shark Tank at 8pm was new and #1 again at 8, topping repeats on CBS and Fox and the season finale of Who Do You Think You Are on NBC. At 9pm NBC's Grimm was #1 easily beating ABC's What Would You Do?, as CBS was in repeats. CBS' Blue Bloods was also a repeat as ABC's 20/20 was #1 at 10 edging NBC's Dateline.
Saturday numbers have ABC and NBC again tying but both were below a prelim 1.0 18-49 rating.
Tonight ABC's line-up is the season finale of AFV and the Billboard Music Awards. Look for solid numbers for the entire night and a #1 position likely. NBC has Dateline at 7, with Celebrity Apprentice from 9-11pm, and Harry's Law leading in. Maybe a second or third place finish. CBS has two new airings of 60 Minutes then a new two-hour Jesse Stone movie from 9-11pm that will skew old. A fourth place finish I think. Fox has Animation Domination finales which could have them in second place, but I also could see them in third.
As for the week (week 35), Fox will likely win the week in 18-49 but it won't be a runaway. And CBS should win HH/viewers. ABC will be second in 18-49 and HH/viewers. CBS will be third in 18-49, with Fox should be third in HH/viewers. NBC will be fourth everywhere. As for the coming week, week 36, we have the final three nights of the season. Big finales are Dancing with the Stars and American Idol, along with Modern Family. Summer starts Thursday with Duets on ABC.

Summing it up. Airings of Modern Family, Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, Mike & Molly, The Big Bang Theory were impressive for the week. Everything else was OK (such as The Middle, Rules of Engagement) or just plain old terrible (such as Cougar Town, Community, 30 Rock).

When the week is over by tonight, it could be the same as this, but I expect ABC to make a run for second in 18-49 over CBS and possibly in HH/viewers over Fox. More on the prediction of week 35 below. As for last week, week 34, Fox and CBS tied for the 18-49 crown again, while CBS again took home HH/total viewers. ABC was second in HH/viewers, but third in 18-49, while Fox was third in HH/viewers. And that left NBC fourth across the board again. NBC still could finish the season in fourth place in 18-49 even with the Super Bowl? They could give up its third place lead (only a tenth right now) to ABC by this Wednesday, the last night of the season.
On Monday, it was CBS with the win as NBC doesn't have The Voice now. First, on ABC, Dancing with the Stars started it off from 8-9:30pm doing a first place 15.79 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, but down a tenth from previous week when it aired 8-10pm. From 9:30-11pm, The Bachelorette had its season premiere doing a solid 8.05 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, holding its lead-in ratings, solid. For CBS, How I Met Your Mother had its one-hour season finale, as 2 Broke Girls had it the previous week, doing 8.58 million and a 3.7 18-49 rating, up four tenths from previous week's Broke finale. The season finale of Two and a Half Men followed at 9 with 11.55 million and a 3.9 rating, the best of the block as usual and up a tenth from previous week. The season finale of Mike & Molly was next and did 11.79 million and a 3.4 18-49 rating, up four tenths week-to-week. Better total viewers thanks to no Dancing head-to-head. At 10, the season finale of Hawaii Five-0 did 11.42 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, which is up four tenths from previous week's series low. Fox started off the night with the Bones season finale doing 7.21 million and a 1.9 rating, on par with the previous week. House was new at 9 with 6.45 million and a 2.2 rating, up a tenth from previous week. The series finale is tomorrow night. Will it get any bump? NBC started it off with a two-hour premiere of America's Got Talent and did 10.48 million and a 3.7 18-49 rating, which was down a tenth from previous week's The Voice Monday finale. Still good, but this show should be better. Then at 10pm the finale of critical darling Smash was next doing 5.96 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, which was on par with previous week's series low. It's coming back for a second season anyway, but either late fall or mid-season. The CW aired the season finale of Gossip Girl and did just 1.14 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating, but actually up two tenths from previous week's series low. The season finale of Hart of Dixie followed with 1.6 million and a 0.6 rating, on par with previous week.
On Tuesday, it was CBS with the win again. NCIS at 8 started it off with the season finale doing 19.05 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating, up half a point from previous week. Then the two-hour NCIS: Los Angeles season finale from 9-11pm did 15.19 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, on par with previous week. ABC aired a special Cougar Town at 8 and did only 3.31 million and a 1.0 18-49 rating, no where near Last Man Standing the previous week. Another Cougar Town followed and did 3.22 million and a 1.0 18-49 rating, down five tenths week-to-week. Officially returning for a fourth season, but on TBS. At 9pm, the live Dancing with the Stars: The Results did 13.23 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week, as we said goodbye to Maria Menounos. The finals start tomorrow. Next at 10pm, was the season finale of Private Practice on its new night doing 6.81 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, up four tenths from previous week's series low when it was heavily hurt by The Voice finale on NBC. Fox aired a new Glee doing 6.09 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week. New Girl was preempted, as Fox aired another new Glee doing 6.03 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating. NBC was next with the night two of America's Got Talent doing 10.58 million and a 3.4 18-49 rating, down a full point from previous week's Voice finale and three tenths from night one the previous night. At 10, the finale of Fashion Star did 4.81 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, as this show will return (and get crushed) next mid-season on Sundays at 8. The CW had the season finale of 90210 doing only 980,000 viewers and a 0.5 18-49 rating, which was down a tenth from the previous week. Then at 9pm, a new episode of LA Complex did just 530,000 viewers and a 0.2 18-49 rating, on par with the previous week. What a disaster!
Wednesday it was all Fox with the win as CBS was a distant second. First, CBS started the night off with two comedy repeats. Mike & Molly aired at 8 doing 4.35 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, followed by Rules of Engagement at 8:30pm doing only 3.93 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating. Then from 9-11pm, the season finale of Criminal Minds did 13.68 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating, up seven tenths from previous week's series low. ABC was all-new for its Laugh On comedy block, as a new The Middle started it off doing 6.53 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, on par with previous week as it could be better but spring has hampered it a bit. Suburgatory followed with its season finale at 8:30pm doing 5.35 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, down three tenths from previous week for a low. Odd. The mega hit Modern Family was next at 9pm with a new episode and it did 9.36 million and a 3.9 18-49 rating, which was down five tenths from previous week, very strange. At 9:30pm, week six of the hilarious Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23 was all-new and did 4.73 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, but down four tenths from previous week. At 10pm the addicting Revenge was new and did 6.9 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week. Really strange night for ABC, season finales air this Wednesday! Fox aired American Idol from 8-10pm doing 17.68 million and a 4.9 18-49 rating, up four tenths from previous week but still good for #1 for the week again. NBC opened the night with a new Betty White's Off Their Rockers doing 5.18 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. Another all-new episode followed at 8:30pm and did a similar 5.52 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week. Will return next season in mid-season again. At 9pm, a repeat of Law & Order: SVU at 9pm did 2.86 million and a 0.8 18-49, up a tenth from previous week's Rock Center though. And at 10pm, a new Law & Order: SVU did 5.56 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. If it can't do much at 10, why will it air at 9pm next fall? The CW had a repeat of Top Model start it off at 8pm doing 760,000 viewers and a 0.4 18-49 rating, up a tenth week-to-week. A new America's Next Top Model followed at 9 and did 1.16 million and a 0.5 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week.
Thursday it was Fox over ABC. Starting with ABC, they opened the night with the finale of Missing doing 6.53 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week's series low. Would make a nice summer series. At 9pm, the season finale of Grey's Anatomy aired doing 11.44 million and a 4.1 18-49 rating, up six tenths from previous week for the best in scripted TV for the week. Awesome season finale! At 10pm, the season finale of Scandal did 7.33 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, up four tenths from previous week for a series high. This show could be big next season as it has plenty of buzz. CBS started with a repeat (in sweeps?!) of The Big Bang Theory doing 8.49 million and 2.5 18-49 rating. The finale of Rules of Engagement did 7.17 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, down six tenths from previous week. The season finale of Person of Interest aired next at 9 and did 13.47 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week as it got crushed by Grey's. Could be better and we know it can do better. The Mentalist was next at 10 for its season finale too and did 13.09 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week as it heads to Sundays at 10 this fall. Fox aired American Idol at 8 doing 16.4 million and a 4.4 18-49 rating, up four tenths from previous week. Then the finale of Touch at 9 did 6.02 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week for a series low. It's back next season anyway, but on Fridays. NBC was all-new with a new Community up first doing 2.97 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, which is down a tenth from previous week tying its series low. Fridays seems very weird for this show next fall. At 8:30pm, 30 Rock had its season finale at 8:30pm and did 2.84 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. Really, time to end it after six seasons but it is back next season for the finale 13 episodes. NBC preempted The Office for another Community and did just 2.61 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, down a full point from previous week's Office. Yikes. At 9:30pm Parks & Recreation was preempted as NBC aired another episode of Community, this time its season finale, and did just 2.48 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, down four tenths from previous week's Parks and ties its series low. At 10pm, week twelve of Awake is dead in the ratings as it did 2.1 million and a 0.7 18-49 rating, down two tenths week-to-week, tying its low. It's canceled anyway, but finale is this week. The CW's big gun Vampire Diaries was preempted at 8 for a Perez Hilton All Access: Katy Perry special and did only 800,000 viewers and a 0.3 18-49 rating, down nine tenths from previous week's Vampire. Then at 9pm, drama The Secret Circle was preempted too, as they aired a repeat of Vampire Diaries and did only 600,000 viewers and a 0.2 18-49 rating.
Now, final numbers for Friday and Saturday are not available, but ABC and NBC tred for the Friday win. Shark Tank at 8pm was new and #1 again at 8, topping repeats on CBS and Fox and the season finale of Who Do You Think You Are on NBC. At 9pm NBC's Grimm was #1 easily beating ABC's What Would You Do?, as CBS was in repeats. CBS' Blue Bloods was also a repeat as ABC's 20/20 was #1 at 10 edging NBC's Dateline.
Saturday numbers have ABC and NBC again tying but both were below a prelim 1.0 18-49 rating.
Tonight ABC's line-up is the season finale of AFV and the Billboard Music Awards. Look for solid numbers for the entire night and a #1 position likely. NBC has Dateline at 7, with Celebrity Apprentice from 9-11pm, and Harry's Law leading in. Maybe a second or third place finish. CBS has two new airings of 60 Minutes then a new two-hour Jesse Stone movie from 9-11pm that will skew old. A fourth place finish I think. Fox has Animation Domination finales which could have them in second place, but I also could see them in third.
As for the week (week 35), Fox will likely win the week in 18-49 but it won't be a runaway. And CBS should win HH/viewers. ABC will be second in 18-49 and HH/viewers. CBS will be third in 18-49, with Fox should be third in HH/viewers. NBC will be fourth everywhere. As for the coming week, week 36, we have the final three nights of the season. Big finales are Dancing with the Stars and American Idol, along with Modern Family. Summer starts Thursday with Duets on ABC.

- The Simpsons (Fox) - A new episode at 8pm did 4.07 million and just a 1.9 18-49 rating, which is below normal and down four tenths from previous week. Not good. At 7pm, a repeat did 2.13 million and a 0.9 18-49 rating, which was down two tenths from previous week.
- The Cleveland Show (Fox) - A new showing at 7:30pm did 2.79 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, down another tenth from previous week.
- Bob's Burgers (Fox) - A new episode at 8:30pm did 3.69 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, which is not too good but on par week-to-week despite its lead-in dropping.
- Family Guy (Fox) - At 9pm, an all-new airing did only 4.94 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, for the best of the block and but down three tenths from previous week. A new low?
- American Dad! (Fox) - At 9:30pm, a new showing did 4.13 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, but down three tenths from previous week.

- How I Met Your Mother (CBS) - The one-hour season finale did 8.58 million and a 3.7 18-49 rating, which was up four tenths from previous week's 2 Broke Girls one-hour finale. Interesting, as this show seems more younger skewing.

- Two and a Half Men (CBS) - The season finale of this sitcom did 11.55 million and a 3.9 18-49 rating, up a tenth week-to-week for its last original Monday airing. On the move to Thursdays in the fall.
- Mike & Molly (CBS) - 11.79 million and a 3.4 18-49 rating is up three tenths week-to-week and even more in total viewers as there was no Dancing to compete with.

Digital Digest: Shout! Acquires Timeless Media Group; Fantasy Island - The Complete Second Season DVD Review

Mergers have been happening everywhere in the home media business lately, and this week, Shout! Factory has announced a merger of their own with Timeless Media Group. According to Variety, Shout! Factory has purchased the smaller distributor, known primarily for their releases of classic western series acquired from NBCUniversal (although they have released other series as well). TMG will remain, at least for the foreseeable future, a separate entity from Shout! Factory and will continue to operate out of Oregon, but this acquisition opens the door for both distributors to better market the TMG releases and perhaps improve the quality of some of the TMG releases. Honestly, there may be a lot of good to come out of this deal, as it demonstrates Shout! Factory has an ongoing commitment to release television series. We'll let you know what does come of it!
Sony announced a MOD offering this week which should give fans of virtually any series hope that their favorite series will indeed make it to DVD, with their announcement of Charlie's Angels (2011) - The Complete Series. The series was panned by critics and was canceled before all of the eight produced episodes could even be aired (one was left unaired), but those who did enjoy the series, this is the set for you. The availability date is not yet known, but typically, Sony's MOD releases come around the first Tuesday of each month.
CBS Home Entertainment has a release on August 14 of another half season of a classic '70s action series from the Spelling Entertainment library, with Vega$ - The Third Season, Volume 2. This release marks the final release of the series starring Robert Urich, completing the entire series on DVD. It isn't available to preorder on amazon.com just yet, but should be soon.

Blog DVD Review: Fantasy Island - The Complete Second Season (Shout! Factory, $39.97)

The set comes packaged in a standard sized Viva case. On the front, there is a picture of Mr. Roarke and Tattoo standing on the island, and on the back, there are a few more photos from the series. These will look familiar to those who have purchased Sony's release of the first season... Shout! used a lot of the same artwork. In fact, the cover art for this set was actually used on the back of the release for the first season! Inside the case, you'll find the six discs, all of which have the same shot of Mr. Roarke and Tattoo as on the cover, except with a green background. A listing of all of the episodes and guest stars is printed inside the case, but there are no descriptions. That is somewhat understandable since there are so many stories in the series, but descriptions were included for the release of the first season.
There are no special features on the set. What would have been nice to see would have been original episode teasers. After all, the first season actually DID have these! So apparently they exist, but I suppose it would have been more of a challenge for Shout! to include this since they merely sublicensed the episodes.

Welcome to Fantasy Island, the place where your dreams become reality! And now, the entire second season becomes a reality as Shout! Factory picks up the rights to the classic series from Sony, starting with Fantasy Island - The Complete Second Season. The series debuted on ABC on the foothills of success of the similar series, The Love Boat (both were produced by Aaron Spelling), and made up one of the most memorable Saturday night lineups in all of TV history. The series stars Ricardo Montalbán as Mr. Roarke and Hervé Villechaize as sidekick Tattoo, as they welcome guests to the island each and every week to make their fantasies come true, no matter what they may be. And of course, most of those guests were well-know celebrities of the era, particularly TV stars.
Before describing each of the episodes, we'll briefly go over the format of the series. Each episode features two alternating stories (in some of the longer episodes, there are three) about guests coming to the island to fulfill his or her fantasy, for "only" $50,000... or whatever he or she can afford if they don't have that. Rarely, though, does the fantasy that the person hopes to achieve turns out the way it was expected. With 25 episodes, containing a total of 52 stories, it would be difficult to describe every story, but we'll highlight a few of them.
A Vietnam vet who was presumed dead wants his remarried wife and son back in "The Homecoming." In "The Big Dipper," a pickpocket and his daughter post as vacationers to hide from authorities. An archaeologist wants to uncover the secrets of a cursed tomb in "Tomb." In "I Want to Get Married," a librarian comes to the island to get married, but doesn't come with a possible groom. A self-professed wimp comes to the island for strength in "The Toughest Man Alive." A doctor wants a large monetary grant to build a hospital in "The Appointment." In "The Flight of the Great Yellow Bird," a man is on the hunt for Sasquatch. In "Charlie's Cherubs," three girls want to solve a crime, by channeling their idols from Charlie's Angels. World War II vets are looking to recover stolen treasure in "Stalag 3."
In "Vampire," a method actor wants to become what he is about to play. A hypochondriac just wants a cure in "Substitute Wife," but for what? In "The Stripper," an heiress is trying to escape an arranged marriage. A young boxer wants one last opportunity to win, even if it will kill him, in "The Boxer." A TV reporter thinks she may be cursed when her relationships all seem to be dying in "Pentagram." In "A Little Ball," a young nun visits the island to live out her last fantasies before deciding to commit to the church. Two friends are given half a million dollars in "Spending Spree." In "Birthday Party," a woman wants to be reunited with her twins that she gave up for adoption several decades earlier. A gag writer lives out his dreams of being a comedian in "The Comic." Tattoo is kidnapped to get revenge on Roarke in "Cornelius and Alphonse." In "Bowling," a mediocre bowler just wants to be able to compete against professionals. A boy has a fantasy to operate an amusement park in "Amusement Park."
The episodes appear to be unedited, with most even retaining the original '70s Columbia Pictures Television "sunburst" logo at the end of each episode. As previously mentioned, you'll find many guest stars in the series, far too many to even list them in the episode descriptions, so we list them alongside the runtimes. A self-professed wimp comes to the island for strength in "The Toughest Man Alive." A doctor wants a large monetary grant to build a hospital in "The Appointment." In "The Flight of the Great Yellow Bird," a man is on the hunt for Sasquatch. In "Charlie's Cherubs," three girls want to solve a crime, by channeling their idols from Charlie's Angels. World War II vets are looking to recover stolen treasure in "Stalag 3."
In "Vampire," a method actor wants to become what he is about to play. A hypochondriac just wants a cure in "Substitute Wife," but for what? In "The Stripper," an heiress is trying to escape an arranged marriage. A young boxer wants one last opportunity to win, even if it will kill him, in "The Boxer." A TV reporter thinks she may be cursed when her relationships all seem to be dying in "Pentagram." In "A Little Ball," a young nun visits the island to live out her last fantasies before deciding to commit to the church. Two friends are given half a million dollars in "Spending Spree." In "Birthday Party," a woman wants to be reunited with her twins that she gave up for adoption several decades earlier. A gag writer lives out his dreams of being a comedian in "The Comic." Tattoo is kidnapped to get revenge on Roarke in "Cornelius and Alphonse." In "Bowling," a mediocre bowler just wants to be able to compete against professionals. A boy has a fantasy to operate an amusement park in "Amusement Park."
The episodes appear to be unedited, with most even retaining the original '70s Columbia Pictures Television "sunburst" logo at the end of each episode. As previously mentioned, you'll find many guest stars in the series, far too many to even list them in the episode descriptions, so we list them alongside the runtimes. The set comes packaged in a standard sized Viva case. On the front, there is a picture of Mr. Roarke and Tattoo standing on the island, and on the back, there are a few more photos from the series. These will look familiar to those who have purchased Sony's release of the first season... Shout! used a lot of the same artwork. In fact, the cover art for this set was actually used on the back of the release for the first season! Inside the case, you'll find the six discs, all of which have the same shot of Mr. Roarke and Tattoo as on the cover, except with a green background. A listing of all of the episodes and guest stars is printed inside the case, but there are no descriptions. That is somewhat understandable since there are so many stories in the series, but descriptions were included for the release of the first season.
The menus on the set are very nice, with a photo of Mr. Roarke and Tattoo (for once, it is different from the cover art, while video from some of the episodes on the disc plays in the corner of the screen with the theme music playing. There are options of Play All and Episodes. Once you select Episodes, you get a video of Mr. Roarke saying "welcome to Fantasy Island." The episodes menu simply lists all of the episodes on the disc. Once you select an episode, it plays immediately, and there are chapters within each episode.
Compared to a lot of these Columbia (now Sony) series from Aaron Spelling from this era, these episodes look and sound really good. Not necessarily perfect, though, because there is some debris here and there, and the audio can be a tadbit low at times, but there aren't any serious concerns here at all. Each episode on the set is closed-captioned.
There are no special features on the set. What would have been nice to see would have been original episode teasers. After all, the first season actually DID have these! So apparently they exist, but I suppose it would have been more of a challenge for Shout! to include this since they merely sublicensed the episodes.
This is a great set of episodes for the series, and I think that the stories and guest stars in this season were a lot better than in the first season. I am happy that Shout! Factory decided to pick up this previously abandoned series, and I'm hoping to see more episodes of the series, all the way through the final season, but it remains to be seen how well this one will sell. It is too bad that CBS can't get "on board" too and move ahead with Love Boat, as these series are one of those rare "perfect pairs" of TV series which both should be on DVD. Of course, fans of this series will enjoy this set, but fans of other series of the era, particularly Love Boat, are sure to enjoy this set... it is a fantasy come to life!

Family Ties Also Gets Marathon on GMC; Sitcom Stars on Talk Shows (Week of May 21, 2012)
Earlier in this very busy week we told you about Family Ties coming to GMC beginning Monday (May 21)...and yes, that's still happening, but we have some more news now! The hit '80s sitcom will have a marathon on Sunday, May 27, 2012, part of Memorial Day Weekend! The marathon will run from 2pm-1am, so that's 22 hilarious episodes in a row for you to watch! GMC has not yet announced its plans for Memorial Day itself, so if there is of anything of note on that day marathon wise, we will let you know on our annual Memorial Day TV marathons blog post on that day. New Series: The Carrie Diaries (drama), Cult (drama)
NOTES: The CW picks up five new dramas for the 2012-13 season. The CW will plan to strategically rollout its new fall season starting in early October 2012. Specific dates to be announced at a later time.
On Monday nights, the most famous zip code in America, 90210, returns at 8:00-9:00 p.m., and Gossip Girl will wrap up its six-season run of OMFG drama at 9:00-10:00 p.m. In January, new series The Carrie Diaries, starring AnnaSophia Robb as the incomparable and iconic Carrie Bradshaw growing up in the 1980s, will follow in Gossip Girl's stylish heels at 9:00-10:00 p.m.
Tuesdays The CW will play doctor, with Hart of Dixie, starring Rachel Bilson, bringing its dose of Southern hospitality to 8:00-9:00 p.m., followed by new medical drama Emily Owens, M.D. from 9:00-10:00 p.m., starring Mamie Gummer as a surgical intern who discovers, much to her dismay, that working in a hospital feels an awful lot like high school.
The CW gives Wednesday a double dose of high-octane action, with new series Arrow, starring Stephen Amell as the popular DC Comics character, at 8:00-9:00 p.m., followed by this year’s People’s Choice Award-winner for Best Network Drama, Supernatural, 9:00-10:00 p.m.
Thursday nights The CW’s bloody-good drama The Vampire Diaries is back for more heart-stopping thrills and romance, followed by new series Beauty and the Beast, starring Kristin Kreuk as a homicide detective and Jay Ryan as a doctor with a dark side… a really dark side.
Fridays are filled with fierce females, with America's Next Top Model moving to a new night and time, 8:00-9:00 p.m., followed by Maggie Q’s return to action as Nikita, 9:00-10:00 p.m.
New drama Cult, starring Matt Davis as a journalist looking for his brother, who went missing after becoming obsessed with a hit TV show about a menacing cult leader, will premiere at midseason, with a date and time to be announced later.

TNT and TBS unveiled their extensive original series lineups for 2012-13 at its annual upfront presentation. TNT and TBS also announced a diverse range of new projects in development from such high-profile creative partners as David Baldacci, Michael Bay, Steven Bochco, Tom Clancy, James Duff, Howard Gordon, Norm MacDonald, Matthew McConaughey, Conan O'Brien, Michael Ovitz, Robert Port, Michael M. Robin, Ron Shelton, Greer Shephard, Don Todd and Dick Wolf. For the comedy relatables, TBS is premiering two new sitcoms this summer, each of which will be paired in the lineup with The Big Bang Theory. Next week, TBS will premiere Men at Work, followed in July by the launch of Sullivan & Son. Later this year, TBS will also debut the scripted comedy series Wedding Band, followed in early 2013 by the premiere of Cougar Town, now a TBS original series. For the comedy rebels, TBS's slate includes shows like the competition series King of the Nerds (working title) and the newly greenlit Deon Cole's Black Box and Who Gets the Last Laugh? (working title).
TNT has nine original series on tap this summer, more than any other time in the network's history. Among the new series joining the network are the eagerly anticipated Dallas and TNT's first-ever reality-competition show, The Great Escape. TNT is also building its originals slate with the recently greenlit medical drama Monday Mornings and the unscripted series Boston Blue (working title) and 72 Hours (working title).
Among the sitcoms TBS has development are: Zone Lord - Conan O'Brien serves as executive producer on this sitcom with an intergalactic twist. Three roommates awake one morning to discover an evil but very hip alien has moved into their building, along with his diminutive navigator. The Kid - To try and get his game back, a young and socially naïve golf prodigy named Quinn teams up with Joey, an unconventional new caddy. But much to the dismay of his father, Quinn learns more than just golf, as this new duo makes its way into the high-rolling, fast-moving big-time world of professional golf. The Kid is written by Donald Todd from a story by Sports Illustrated senior writer Michael Bamberger and writer Jay Hass, along with David Morse (Tremé) and professional golfer Phil Mickelson's longtime caddy, Jim "Bones" Mackay. Most Likely - It has been ten years since high school, and the former "most likely to succeed" star student returns to his hometown after losing his job. He winds up working for the former (and still) "most popular" jock in this mismatched buddy comedy penned by Josh Heald (Hot Tub Time Machine). The station will launch MeTV on June 24, 2012 and will be seen over-the-air on channel 2.2 as well as on Comcast channel 302, Charter channel 292 and Wave Broadband channel 60. MeTV Network now clears more than 79% of the country, serving more than 122 affiliates. MeTV of course features a wide range of programming which audiences and advertisers find comfortable and engaging. MeTV's library includes almost 100 series from Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, CBS Television Distribution, NBCUniversal Television as well as independent series owners and producers. MeTV's line-up include some of the most beloved television programs ever produced, including: M*A*S*H, Perry Mason, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Gunsmoke, That Girl, and the original Star Trek and Hawaii Five-O series

The sitcom just wrapped its pilot episode and is about a major movie star who is sentenced to community service at an inner city high school in South Central Los Angeles. Bill Bellamy, Jon Lovitz, Vivica A. Fox, Gary Busey and Keshia Knight Pulliam star in this all-star cast! The cast also includes Rick Fox, Tim Meadows, Tony T. Roberts, Alex Thomas, Jeff Garcia, Marcus Paulk, Giovonnie Samuels, Tequan Richmond, Giselle Bonilla, Davi Santos, Nick Nervies, Erin Westbrook and Clifton Davis.

Turning to other news, GMC has acquired the rights to the '80s sitcom Family Ties! The Michael J. Fox comedy will start airing on the cable network next Monday (May 21), weekdays at 10:00am & 10:30am. The sitcom currently airs on The Hub on cable, but it has been reduced to weekend late nights at 2:30am ET, three times a week every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Family Ties will lead into an hour of the '90s Cosby, which gets a second hour at 11:00am & 11:30am. The show will continue to air late nights at 1:00am & 1:30am following full hours of 227 and Amen. The block of Ties and Cosby is replacing two-hours of reality game show Don't Forget the Lyrics!, which is now off the schedule. The rest of the line-up will remain intact, with The Waltons, Judging Amy, Dr. Quinn Medicine Women, more Waltons and a movie, from 12pm-11pm.
On Saturdays, a block of Sister, Sister and Moesha will remain leading into a block of Cosby. Keep it right here for more on Family Ties on GMC! Sha la la la!

Notes: NBC is adding 6 new scripted series to its line-up this fall, with 6 more coming in mid-season. They also have three new reality entries coming in mid-season. In mid-season, they have four returning reality entries, along with drama Smash. Among the four returning reality series, The Sing-Off is not mentioned, and is canceled. They have also canned Fear Factor again and Who Do You Think You Are. As we predicted, The Biggest Loser is now just once a year and will debut its next season in early 2013. As for fall, NBC's hit The Voice will now be twice a year, with it airing Mondays 8-10pm and Tuesdays 8-9pm this fall. A new drama will air Mondays at 10pm, The Revolution from J.J. Abrams. It will likely launch the day after the Olympics conclude on Aug. 13. No word if The Voice will launch that night as well, as NBC will still have America's Got Talent. Tuesdays will no longer have The Biggest Loser in the fall, so The Voice will move down an hour on Tuesdays at 8 giving a strong lead-in to two new comedies: Go On starring Matthew Perry and The New Normal. These two comedies will also most likely launch after the Olympics conclude, so likely Aug. 14 following AGT or The Voice (if they start that in August). Parenthood will remain in its 10pm timeslot and maybe will also start after the Olympics end. Wednesdays starts off again with new comedies. This time they are more male/family based than last season's Christina Applegate and Hank Azaria comedies. Animal Practice is a single-camera comedy leading into the family multi-camera comedy from Jimmy Fallon titled Guys With Kids. These could also launch the week after the Olympics, but maybe not since there is no lead-in. I think these two will have its work cut out for them opposite ABC's comedies and self-starting. Harry's Law is canned and Law & Order: SVU is now back to 9pm, where it didn't do that well before. New drama from Dick Wolf titled Chicago Fire will air at 10pm. This night might not premiere until the season starts, with a chance the comedies premiere after the Olympics. NBC Thursday will not have any new series, so it will likely not premiere immediately following the Olympics. Likely the final season of 30 Rock will air at 8 leading into a new time for Up All Night, as Community heads to Fridays. All of these series have 13 episodes, I think. So they will be replaced by mid-season comedies or reality by January or so. The Office remains at 9pm leading into Parks & Recreation. Both shows are expected to have full 22-episode seasons. You can expect similar low ratings like this season for this night. And it gets worse at 10pm, as for some reason they are airing Rock Center with Brian Williams, which moves yet again and is still on the air despite horrible ratings. Fridays will have Whitney move to a new night with it leading into Community. That is an absolute dreadful pairing, I think. Both should be gone quickly after 13 episodes. So they renewed Whitney for this? Should have been paired with Guys with Kids at least. Friday drama Grimm will remain intact at 9. Dateline closes it out at 10pm again. Football remains on Sundays, and saves NBC as usual.
As for mid-season, NBC has only scheduled one night so far: Sundays after football ends. Sundays will have Celebrity Apprentice cut to one hour from 9-10pm to lead into the new drama Do No Harm. Second season reality series Fashion Star will air at 8, which is strange since it hasn't done well this season. Dateline will kick-off the night at 7.
My final thoughts at Fall: I don't think it is a great schedule, only Mondays and Tuesdays have a chance to improve and that is because of one show: The Voice. I'm not sure if a male-skewing drama like The Revolution will fit out of that female-centric reality show and opposite MNF on ESPN. But launching it earlier could help. Two comedies might be a good idea on Tuesdays at 9, but will have to face New Girl on Fox most likely. Other than these two nights, they certainly could have done better with this schedule. The Wednesday comedy hour is bound for failure with two freshman series and moving SVU back to 9 is not a good idea, even if it is to launch a new drama at 10 from Dick Wolf. It'll be a low rated night for NBC. Thursdays is the same old and no new shows, so I don't expect much as 10pm will have the same low ratings but with a cheaper show in Rock Center. By mid-season that 8pm hour will for sure be new comedies or even a reality show. Office/Parks will likely still air all season, since 22 episodes are ordered likely for both. The Friday comedy hour really looks weird, as the pairing is very strange. I don't know if that will work, and I could see a reality show plugged in very quickly. NBC has a lot of mid-season shows, so if something falters, they will have something to plug in quickly. The fall will heavily rely on The Voice to bring in some new hits, and even that show could drop if they have new judges/mentors that aren't up to par as the current ones. Smash will return with 15-18 episodes either late fall (if Revolution falters) or mid-season.

2011-12 Week 34 TV Ratings (first four nights final ratings, Mon-Thu):
Week 34 (May 7-13) Analysis: Week 34 has May sweeps in full gear, but some shows are ending early with finales in week 34. Through the the first four nights, ABC, CBS and Fox are very close to each other again in HH/viewers, with CBS on top, followed by ABC and Fox battling for second. In the more important adults 18-49, it is also close, with Fox with the slight edge over CBS again. ABC is third tied with NBC, which was helped by The Voice finale. NBC is still a distant fourth in HH/viewers, though. When the week is over by tonight, it could be the same as this, but I expect ABC to take over second in 18-49 over CBS and pass NBC for sure. More on the prediction of week 34 below. As for last week, week 33, Fox and CBS tied for the 18-49 crown, while CBS took home HH/total viewers. ABC was second in HH/viewers, but third in 18-49, while Fox was third in HH/viewers. And that left NBC fourth across the board again. Could NBC finish the season in fourth place in 18-49 even with the Super Bowl? They could give up its third place lead (only a tenth right now) soon to ABC.
On Monday, it was NBC nipping by CBS this time. First, on ABC, Dancing with the Stars started it off from 8-10pm doing a first place 16.37 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, but down a tenth from previous week. At 10pm, Castle was all-new and was its season finale doing a solid 12.36 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, not losing much of its lead-in and up a tenth from previous week. What a finale! For CBS, How I Met Your Mother was preempted so 2 Broke Girls aired a two-episode season finale with 8.99 million and a 3.3 18-49 rating, but that was its series low. Maybe it isn't ready to be an anchor just yet? A new Two and a Half Men followed at 9 with 11.43 million and a 3.8 rating, the best of the block as usual and on par with previous week. A new showing of Mike & Molly was next and did 10.14 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating, down a tenth week-to-week. At 10, a new episode of Hawaii Five-0 did 9.39 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, which is below normal and down two tenths from previous week for a series low. Fox started off the night with Bones doing 7.02 million and a 1.9 rating, down a tenth from the previous week. House was new at 9 with 6.09 million and a 2.1 rating, on par with previous week. Going out with a whimper, as the series finale nears. NBC started it off with a two-hour The Voice and did 10.74 million and a 3.8 18-49 rating, which was up three tenths for the first part of its season finale. Still good, but part one of the first season finale did better in June. Then at 10pm week fourteen of critical darling Smash was next doing 5.72 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, which was on par with previous week for a series low. It's coming back for a second season anyway, but either late fall or mid-season so no repeats air like this season. The CW aired an all-new Gossip Girl and did just 830,000 viewers and a 0.4 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week for a low. No wonder this is coming back for a final season of 11 episodes next season. A new Hart of Dixie followed with 1.37 million and a 0.6 rating, on par with previous week.
On Tuesday, it was NBC with the win thanks to the finale of The Voice. On CBS, NCIS at 8 started it off with a new episode doing 18.2 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating. Below normal again but on par with previous week. Then a new NCIS: Los Angeles at 9pm did 14.56 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, on par with previous week's crossover with Hawaii Five-0. At 10pm, the finale of Unforgettable did 10.84 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week, but CBS has canceled the show. ABC aired the season finale of Last Man Standing doing 6.62 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week. A new Cougar Town did 4.63 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, also up two tenths week-to-week. Officially returning for a fourth season, but on TBS! At 9pm, the live Dancing with the Stars: The Results did 13.71 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, on par with previous week, as we said goodbye to Melissa Gilbert and Roshon Feegan. Semi-finals next! Next at 10pm, was a new Private Practice on its new night doing 5.77 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, down seven tenths from previous week for a series low as it was heavily hurt by The Voice finale on NBC. Fox aired a new Glee doing 6.67 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week. New Girl was new at 9 for its season finale and did 5.61 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating, up six tenths from previous week's low. Nice climb. At 9:30pm a repeat followed and did just 3.26 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, up a tenth week-to-week. NBC was next with a special time airing of Fashion Star in the 8pm hour doing only 4.35 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, which is a series low. Expect the same ratings next season in early 2013 on Sundays at 8. Stupid move by NBC. At 9, NBC aired the live The Voice two-hour finale doing 11.93 million and a 4.4 18-49 rating, up 1.3 tenths from previous week when it was just at 9pm. Nice finale! The CW was all-new with 90210 doing 1.15 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating, which was on par with the previous week. Then at 9pm, a new episode of LA Complex did just 540,000 viewers and a 0.2 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. What a disaster!
Wednesday it was all Fox with the win as CBS and ABC battled for a distant second. First, CBS started the night off with a new Survivor: One World doing 9.97 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating, which was up two tenths from previous week's series low. Finale is tonight. Then at 9pm, a new episode of Criminal Minds did 11.62 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week for a series low. And at 10pm the season finale of CSI did 10.73 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week but its lowest rated finale ever. ABC was all-new for its Laugh On comedy block, as a new The Middle started it off doing 6.6 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, as it could be better but spring has hampered it a bit. Suburgatory followed with a new telecast at 8:30pm doing 5.94 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week. The mega hit Modern Family was next at 9pm with a new episode and it did 10.58 million and 4.4 18-49 rating, which up three tenths from previous week, tied for the best in scripted TV this week so far. At 9:30pm, week five of the hilarious Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23 was all-new and did 5.69 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, but down a tenth from previous week. Renewed for a season 2 though! At 10pm the addicting Revenge was new and did 7.01 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week despite it being a flashback episode. Should build now as we get closer to the first season finale in 2 weeks. Fox aired American Idol from 8-10pm doing 16.46 million and a 4.5 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week but still good for #1 for the week again, beating The Voice finale. NBC opened the night with a new Betty White's Off Their Rockers doing 5.23 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week's low. Another all-new episode followed at 8:30pm and did a similar 5.0 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, on par with previous week. Will return next season in mid-season again. At 9pm, a new Rock Center with Brian Williams at 9pm did 3.29 million and a 0.7 18-49, down three tenths from previous week. Wow, so bad, and yet NBC is moving this to Thursdays this fall? And at 10pm, a new Law & Order: SVU did 5.88 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. If it can't do much at 10, why will it at 9pm next fall? The CW had a repeat of Top Model start it off at 8pm doing 780,000 viewers and a 0.3 18-49 rating. A new America's Next Top Model followed at 9 and did 1.06 million and a 0.4 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week.
Thursday it was Fox edging out CBS by just a tenth for the win again. Starting with ABC, they opened the night with week nine of Missing doing 6.37 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, on par with previous week's series low. It has been canned, so the finale is this Thursday. At 9pm, a new Grey's Anatomy aired doing 9.82 million and a 3.5 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week. Awesome episode again and the season finale looks like it will be big. Look for big numbers. At 10pm, a new Scandal did 6.43 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, on par with previous week. By far the best episode and I think it will reach a series high for the season finale this week. This show could be big next season. CBS started with the season finale of The Big Bang Theory doing a great 13.72 million and 4,4 18-49 rating, but down three tenths from previous week. Could have been higher for a season finale. A new Rules of Engagement did 8.77 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, on par with previous week. Solid performance for a show everyone wants to get rid of. A new episode of Person of Interest aired next at 9 and did 12.96 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week. Could be better and we know it can do better. The Mentalist was next at 10 and new too and did 12.62 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. Fox aired American Idol at 8 doing 15.62million and a 4.0 18-49 rating, again on par with previous week. Then a new episode of Touch at 9 did 6.84 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week, tying a series low. It's back next season anyway. NBC was all-new with a new Community up first doing 2.99 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, which was on par with previous week. Fridays seems very weird for this show next fall. At 8:30pm, 30 Rock was new at 8:30pm and did 2.92 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week. Really, time to end it after six seasons but it is back next season for 13 episodes. The season finale of The Office was next and did just 4.49 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, on par with previous week. It will return next season in this slot, but NBC needs a new comedy anchor badly now. At 9:30pm Parks & Recreation finale did just 3.42 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, on par week-to-week. At 10pm, week eleven of Awake is dead in the ratings as it did 2.51 million and a 0.9 18-49 rating, up two tenths week-to-week actually. It's canceled anyway. The CW's big gun Vampire Diaries was new and did 2.53 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating, on par with previous week BUT still seems low for this show. The CW can't catch a break. Then at 9pm, drama The Secret Circle was new too and did 1.28 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week. It has been canned, though.
Now, final numbers for Friday and Saturday are not available, but ABC edged out a win on Friday again. Shark Tank at 8pm was new and #1 again for the entire night, as the season finale of Undercover Boss had to settle for second place and another series low. At 9pm NBC's Grimm and CSI: NY were no match for ABC's What Would You Do? which was #1 at 9. CBS' Blue Bloods was no match for ABC's 20/20, as it was #1 at 10 for a clean ABC sweep. Fox's Fringe was low at 9pm, but it is back for the final 13 episodes next season anyway.
Saturday numbers have Fox winning with NASCAR. CBS, ABC and NBC did nothing.
Tonight ABC's line-up is AFV, Once Upon a Time, & Desperate Housewives. Look for solid numbers for the entire night and a #1 position for the season finale of Once Upon a Time and the two-hour series finale for Desperate. Could be big. NBC has Dateline at 7, with Celebrity Apprentice from 9-11pm, and Harry's Law leading in. Maybe a third or fourth place finish. CBS has new airings of 60 Minutes then the two-hour Survivor finale leading into the reunion show at 10. A second place finish I think. Fox has Animation Domination which could have them in third place, but I also could see them in fourth.
As for the week (week 34), Fox will likely win the week in 18-49 but it won't be a runaway. And CBS should win HH/viewers. ABC will be second in 18-49 and HH/viewers. CBS will beat NBC in 18-49 for third, with Fox should be third in HH/viewers. NBC will be fourth for sure in HH/viewers. As for the coming week, week 35, we have more season finales like and some summer series premieres like The Bachelorette and America's Got Talent. We are just one more week after and the season is over...wow!

Notes: NBC is adding 6 new scripted series to its line-up this fall, with 6 more coming in mid-season. They also have three new reality entries coming in mid-season. In mid-season, they have four returning reality entries, along with drama Smash. Among the four returning reality series, The Sing-Off is not mentioned, and is canceled. They have also canned Fear Factor again and Who Do You Think You Are. As we predicted, The Biggest Loser is now just once a year and will debut its next season in early 2013. As for fall, NBC's hit The Voice will now be twice a year, with it airing Mondays 8-10pm and Tuesdays 8-9pm this fall. A new drama will air Mondays at 10pm, The Revolution from J.J. Abrams. It will likely launch the day after the Olympics conclude on Aug. 13. No word if The Voice will launch that night as well, as NBC will still have America's Got Talent. Tuesdays will no longer have The Biggest Loser in the fall, so The Voice will move down an hour on Tuesdays at 8 giving a strong lead-in to two new comedies: Go On starring Matthew Perry and The New Normal. These two comedies will also most likely launch after the Olympics conclude, so likely Aug. 14 following AGT or The Voice (if they start that in August). Parenthood will remain in its 10pm timeslot and maybe will also start after the Olympics end. Wednesdays starts off again with new comedies. This time they are more male/family based than last season's Christina Applegate and Hank Azaria comedies. Animal Practice is a single-camera comedy leading into the family multi-camera comedy from Jimmy Fallon titled Guys With Kids. These could also launch the week after the Olympics, but maybe not since there is no lead-in. I think these two will have its work cut out for them opposite ABC's comedies and self-starting. Harry's Law is canned and Law & Order: SVU is now back to 9pm, where it didn't do that well before. New drama from Dick Wolf titled Chicago Fire will air at 10pm. This night might not premiere until the season starts, with a chance the comedies premiere after the Olympics. NBC Thursday will not have any new series, so it will likely not premiere immediately following the Olympics. Likely the final season of 30 Rock will air at 8 leading into a new time for Up All Night, as Community heads to Fridays. All of these series have 13 episodes, I think. So they will be replaced by mid-season comedies or reality by January or so. The Office remains at 9pm leading into Parks & Recreation. Both shows are expected to have full 22-episode seasons. You can expect similar low ratings like this season for this night. And it gets worse at 10pm, as for some reason they are airing Rock Center with Brian Williams, which moves yet again and is still on the air despite horrible ratings. Fridays will have Whitney move to a new night with it leading into Community. That is an absolute dreadful pairing, I think. Both should be gone quickly after 13 episodes. So they renewed Whitney for this? Should have been paired with Guys with Kids at least. Friday drama Grimm will remain intact at 9. Dateline closes it out at 10pm again. Football remains on Sundays, and saves NBC as usual.
As for mid-season, NBC has only scheduled one night so far: Sundays after football ends. Sundays will have Celebrity Apprentice cut to one hour from 9-10pm to lead into the new drama Do No Harm. Second season reality series Fashion Star will air at 8, which is strange since it hasn't done well this season. Dateline will kick-off the night at 7.
My final thoughts at Fall: I don't think it is a great schedule, only Mondays and Tuesdays have a chance to improve and that is because of one show: The Voice. I'm not sure if a male-skewing drama like The Revolution will fit out of that female-centric reality show and opposite MNF on ESPN. But launching it earlier could help. Two comedies might be a good idea on Tuesdays at 9, but will have to face New Girl on Fox most likely. Other than these two nights, they certainly could have done better with this schedule. The Wednesday comedy hour is bound for failure with two freshman series and moving SVU back to 9 is not a good idea, even if it is to launch a new drama at 10 from Dick Wolf. It'll be a low rated night for NBC. Thursdays is the same old and no new shows, so I don't expect much as 10pm will have the same low ratings but with a cheaper show in Rock Center. By mid-season that 8pm hour will for sure be new comedies or even a reality show. Office/Parks will likely still air all season, since 22 episodes are ordered likely for both. The Friday comedy hour really looks weird, as the pairing is very strange. I don't know if that will work, and I could see a reality show plugged in very quickly. NBC has a lot of mid-season shows, so if something falters, they will have something to plug in quickly. The fall will heavily rely on The Voice to bring in some new hits, and even that show could drop if they have new judges/mentors that aren't up to par as the current ones. Smash will return with 15-18 episodes either late fall (if Revolution falters) or mid-season.

Week 34 (May 7-13) Analysis: Week 34 has May sweeps in full gear, but some shows are ending early with finales in week 34. Through the the first four nights, ABC, CBS and Fox are very close to each other again in HH/viewers, with CBS on top, followed by ABC and Fox battling for second. In the more important adults 18-49, it is also close, with Fox with the slight edge over CBS again. ABC is third tied with NBC, which was helped by The Voice finale. NBC is still a distant fourth in HH/viewers, though. When the week is over by tonight, it could be the same as this, but I expect ABC to take over second in 18-49 over CBS and pass NBC for sure. More on the prediction of week 34 below. As for last week, week 33, Fox and CBS tied for the 18-49 crown, while CBS took home HH/total viewers. ABC was second in HH/viewers, but third in 18-49, while Fox was third in HH/viewers. And that left NBC fourth across the board again. Could NBC finish the season in fourth place in 18-49 even with the Super Bowl? They could give up its third place lead (only a tenth right now) soon to ABC.
On Monday, it was NBC nipping by CBS this time. First, on ABC, Dancing with the Stars started it off from 8-10pm doing a first place 16.37 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, but down a tenth from previous week. At 10pm, Castle was all-new and was its season finale doing a solid 12.36 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, not losing much of its lead-in and up a tenth from previous week. What a finale! For CBS, How I Met Your Mother was preempted so 2 Broke Girls aired a two-episode season finale with 8.99 million and a 3.3 18-49 rating, but that was its series low. Maybe it isn't ready to be an anchor just yet? A new Two and a Half Men followed at 9 with 11.43 million and a 3.8 rating, the best of the block as usual and on par with previous week. A new showing of Mike & Molly was next and did 10.14 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating, down a tenth week-to-week. At 10, a new episode of Hawaii Five-0 did 9.39 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, which is below normal and down two tenths from previous week for a series low. Fox started off the night with Bones doing 7.02 million and a 1.9 rating, down a tenth from the previous week. House was new at 9 with 6.09 million and a 2.1 rating, on par with previous week. Going out with a whimper, as the series finale nears. NBC started it off with a two-hour The Voice and did 10.74 million and a 3.8 18-49 rating, which was up three tenths for the first part of its season finale. Still good, but part one of the first season finale did better in June. Then at 10pm week fourteen of critical darling Smash was next doing 5.72 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, which was on par with previous week for a series low. It's coming back for a second season anyway, but either late fall or mid-season so no repeats air like this season. The CW aired an all-new Gossip Girl and did just 830,000 viewers and a 0.4 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week for a low. No wonder this is coming back for a final season of 11 episodes next season. A new Hart of Dixie followed with 1.37 million and a 0.6 rating, on par with previous week.
On Tuesday, it was NBC with the win thanks to the finale of The Voice. On CBS, NCIS at 8 started it off with a new episode doing 18.2 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating. Below normal again but on par with previous week. Then a new NCIS: Los Angeles at 9pm did 14.56 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, on par with previous week's crossover with Hawaii Five-0. At 10pm, the finale of Unforgettable did 10.84 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week, but CBS has canceled the show. ABC aired the season finale of Last Man Standing doing 6.62 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week. A new Cougar Town did 4.63 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, also up two tenths week-to-week. Officially returning for a fourth season, but on TBS! At 9pm, the live Dancing with the Stars: The Results did 13.71 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, on par with previous week, as we said goodbye to Melissa Gilbert and Roshon Feegan. Semi-finals next! Next at 10pm, was a new Private Practice on its new night doing 5.77 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, down seven tenths from previous week for a series low as it was heavily hurt by The Voice finale on NBC. Fox aired a new Glee doing 6.67 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week. New Girl was new at 9 for its season finale and did 5.61 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating, up six tenths from previous week's low. Nice climb. At 9:30pm a repeat followed and did just 3.26 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, up a tenth week-to-week. NBC was next with a special time airing of Fashion Star in the 8pm hour doing only 4.35 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, which is a series low. Expect the same ratings next season in early 2013 on Sundays at 8. Stupid move by NBC. At 9, NBC aired the live The Voice two-hour finale doing 11.93 million and a 4.4 18-49 rating, up 1.3 tenths from previous week when it was just at 9pm. Nice finale! The CW was all-new with 90210 doing 1.15 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating, which was on par with the previous week. Then at 9pm, a new episode of LA Complex did just 540,000 viewers and a 0.2 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. What a disaster!
Wednesday it was all Fox with the win as CBS and ABC battled for a distant second. First, CBS started the night off with a new Survivor: One World doing 9.97 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating, which was up two tenths from previous week's series low. Finale is tonight. Then at 9pm, a new episode of Criminal Minds did 11.62 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week for a series low. And at 10pm the season finale of CSI did 10.73 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week but its lowest rated finale ever. ABC was all-new for its Laugh On comedy block, as a new The Middle started it off doing 6.6 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, as it could be better but spring has hampered it a bit. Suburgatory followed with a new telecast at 8:30pm doing 5.94 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week. The mega hit Modern Family was next at 9pm with a new episode and it did 10.58 million and 4.4 18-49 rating, which up three tenths from previous week, tied for the best in scripted TV this week so far. At 9:30pm, week five of the hilarious Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23 was all-new and did 5.69 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, but down a tenth from previous week. Renewed for a season 2 though! At 10pm the addicting Revenge was new and did 7.01 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week despite it being a flashback episode. Should build now as we get closer to the first season finale in 2 weeks. Fox aired American Idol from 8-10pm doing 16.46 million and a 4.5 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week but still good for #1 for the week again, beating The Voice finale. NBC opened the night with a new Betty White's Off Their Rockers doing 5.23 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, up two tenths from previous week's low. Another all-new episode followed at 8:30pm and did a similar 5.0 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, on par with previous week. Will return next season in mid-season again. - Rules of Engagement (CBS) - A new episode did 8.77 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, which is on par with previous week. CBS will bring this back, I think.
- Community (NBC) - A new episode did 2.99 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, on par with previous week. It will move to Fridays this fall. So it will be worse than this. Setting up for Comedy Central to revive this show in season five.
- 30 Rock (NBC) - A new episode did 2.92 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week. Will move to 8pm this fall for 13 episodes.
- The Office (NBC) - The season finale did only 4.49 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, on par with previous week. It will be back in this slot next season. How low will it go next season? I don't see it ever going back to over a 3 or even a 2.5.
- Parks and Recreation (NBC) - The finale did 3.42 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, on par week-to-week. Also returning in this slot next season.

Summing it up. Airings of Modern Family, The big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, 2 Broke Girls, New Girl, Mike & Molly were impressive for the week. Everything else was OK (such as The Middle, The Office) or just plain old terrible (such as Community, 30 Rock).
