Week 11 TV Ratings and Analysis; How the Sitcoms Did

Week 11 (Dec. 3-9) Analysis: The first full week of December had a mix of new and repeats, but still plenty of new episodes going on, including many fall finales. Through the final first four night averages CBS has the lead in 18-49 and total viewers. NBC is in second in both measures, while ABC is a close third in HH/viewers. Fox has the edge for third place in 18-49, but is back in fourth for HH/viewers. When the week is done, NBC will probably come back and take the week in 18-49 once again thanks to the NFL tonight over CBS. Fox has the NFL overrun tonight, so they could make a run for possibly second place in 18-49. More on that later. As for last week, week 10, NBC and CBS were tied for first in adults 18-49, half a point higher than third place ABC. Fox was back in fourth. Among total viewers, CBS took that crown by itself, while ABC was second. NBC was a close third. Fox was well back in fourth.
Monday had NBC on top in adults 18-49 and total viewers. But starting with ABC, as Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars - The Finals is on hiatus til March, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - Holidays is airing 8-10pm this December. 8pm hour did 4.23 million but just a 0.9 18-49 rating, down four tenths in 18-49 from previous week's first airing, which was at 9pm. Part two followed at 9 with 4.61 million and a 1.0 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week's second airing, which was at 10pm. A new holiday episode of Castle followed at 10pm and built from its poor lead-in doing 8.5 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating for a season low. For NBC, they were first place with a two-hour The Voice doing 12.11 million and a night best 3.9 18-49 rating, but down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. The holiday special Blake Shelton Christmas followed with 8.88 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, down just two tenths in 18-49 from previous week's fall finale of Revolution. That show is off the schedule until late March, which is not a good idea, I think. Next up was CBS with new episodes, as How I Met Your Mother did 8.26 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from the previous week. A repeat of 2 Broke Girls followed and did 6.72 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, but down a full point in 18-49 from previous week's repeat of Big Bang. A new 2 Broke Girls followed with 10.17 million and a 3.5 18-49 rating, which is down six tenths in 18-49 from previous week as the lead-in was lower this week. Next, a new Mike & Molly garnered 10.23 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating, which is down five tenths in 18-49 from the previous week. A new Hawaii Five-0 at 10pm did 9.32 million and a 2.3 18-49, on par in 18-49 week-to-week. Fox was next with a new Bones doing 7.29 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, down five tenths in 18-49 from previous week. A new episode of dud The Mob Doctor did only 3.26 million and a 0.8 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week for a series low. Are the 13 episodes up yet? The CW aired a new 90210 at 8 with just 990,000 viewers and a 0.5 18-49 rating, on par in 18-49 with previous week. And a new Gossip Girl followed with just 790,000 viewers and a 0.3 18-49 rating, which is horrendous and down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week.
On Tuesday, it was CBS with the win in total viewers and 18-49. The annual airing of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer aired at 8 instead of NCIS and did 10.11 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, which seems below normal. Next a repeat of NCIS preempted NCIS: Los Angeles and did 11.06 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating. And finally at 10pm, the annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show aired instead of Vegas and did 9.48 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating, down from last season but still easily winning its hour, doubling ABC and NBC combined. Onto ABC, at 8pm a special Shark Tank holiday event did a solid 6.89 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, which is just about what it was doing in the 8pm hour on Fridays, and not bad against heavy competition. It could even do better at 9, if it were to air here on Tuesdays. At 9pm a new Happy Endings did 3.37 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, losing to competing comedies on NBC and Fox. At 9:30pm a new Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 did a similar 2.98 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating. Too much comedy in the Tuesday 9-10pm hour. At 10, Private Practice did 4.42 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating. NBC started off with The Voice doing 11.52 million and a 3.5 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. At 9pm, new comedy Go On did 6.67 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. Quietly winning lately against the Fox comedy. A new episode of The New Normal followed with 4.55 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, on par 18-49 with previous week. A new Parenthood at 10pm did 4.98 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, also on par in 18-49 with previous week. Fox had its comedies with a new Raising Hope doing 3.66 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, down four tenths in 18-49 from previous week for a season low. A new episode of Ben and Kate followed with only 2.6 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, back down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. A new New Girl was up next with 4.1 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, back down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Needs to do better as it lost to NBC's competing comedy again. And finally a new The Mindy Project did just 2.68 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, back down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. This show is just doing terrible and Fox quickly ordered a full season without looking at ratings. The CW had a new Hart of Dixie at 8pm and did 1.6 million and a 0.5 18-49 rating, again on par in 18-49 with previous week. New series Emily Owens MD, which is now canned, followed with 1.41 million and a 0.4 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week.

At 10, CSI was preempted for the annual Grammy Nominations Concert and did 5.41 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, much lower than usual in this hour. ABC kicked off the night with a new holiday episode airing of The Middle doing 7.98 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating after a couple weeks off. At 8:30pm a new Christmas episode of The Neighbors did 6.42 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating. At 9pm, a repeat of Modern Family did 8.36 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, which is great for a repeat. A excellent new Christmas episode of Suburgatory followed with 6.09 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. At 10pm, the fall finale of Nashville did 5.95 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. What a great show that will win a lot of awards this coming season. On Fox, a new two-hour The X Factor did 8.25 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week and good enough to win the night. Onto NBC, Whitney was all-new at 8 and did just 3.92 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating. At 8:30, Guys with Kids was new too doing 3.59 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating. At 9, a new Law & Order: SVU did 6.15 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating. At 10pm, a new Chicago Fire did a solid 7.21 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, thanks to no CBS crime drama at 10 most likely. The CW aired a new episode of Arrow and did great with 3.35 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, but down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. At 9, a new Supernatural posted 2.06 million and a 0.9 18-49 rating, which is up a tenth in 18-49 week-to-week.
On Thursday, CBS took the night in both 18-49 and total viewers. Starting with ABC, a new Last Resort did 5.44 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week's series low. What an episode it was. A new Grey's Anatomy followed at 9pm and did 9.1 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week but solid as usual and great for a show in season nine. At 10pm, another electrifying episode of Scanal did a series high 7.39 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, up three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Can it go higher this week as everyone was going crazy at the end of the episode when we saw the reveal of #WhoShotFitz? CBS had a night of new episodes. They opened with a new The Big Bang Theory doing 16.94 million and a 5.2 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week but a clear #1 for scripted TV for the week. A new Two and a Half Men was up next with 13.5 million and a 4.0 18-49 rating, on par in 18-49 with previous week and solid as usual. At 9pm, a new Person of Interest followed with 14.18 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, which is on par in 18-49 with previous week. At 10pm, a new Elementary closed the night with 10.31 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week and had to settle for second place. Fox had The X Factor start the night with 7.84 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, which is down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Then at 9 a new Glee did 5.43 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, which isn't that good for this show but on par with previous week in 18-49. NBC had another dreadful Thursday. A new 30 Rock did 3.22 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating at 8pm, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week for a series low. At 8:30pm, a new Up All Night was worse with 2.92 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating, but on par in 18-49 with previous week. Switching to multi-camera will make this show do even lower, I think. At 9, a new The Office did bad with 4.16 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, but two tenths in 18-49 better than previous week's series low. At 9:30, a new Parks & Recreation did horrible with 3.27 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, but up a tenth in 18-49 week-to-week. And it got worse at 10pm with a new Rock Center with Brian Williams doing just 3.58 million and a 1.0 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week, though. The CW's big gun Vampire Diaries was new and did 2.42 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. New series Beauty and the Beast also was new and did 1.41 million and a 0.5 18-49 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week.
Now, final numbers for Friday and Saturday are not available, but NBC sneaked out a win in 18-49. A new Last Man Standing was second in its half hour at 8pm on ABC and Malibu Country was solid, but CBS took the hour again with Undercover Boss. A repeat of the surging Shark Tank at 9pm beat a new CSI: NY again. NBC was solid with SNL Christmas encore from 8-10pm, and winning the 9pm hour, propelling Dateline to a win at 10pm. At 10pm, ABC's 20/20 dropped to third this week, losing to NBC and CBS.

Tonight ABC Sunday has a new AFV as Once Upon a Time, Revenge and 666 Park Avenue are on hiatus so ABC has Prep & Landing specials at 8 and the new Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie: Christmas with Holly from 9-11pm. ABC could sneak out a third place finish, but likely fourth. NBC will be #1 with the NFL matchup between the Packers and the struggling Lions. CBS is also all-new tonight with 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race and The Mentalist. Good Wife is preempted as Amazing Race is a two-hour season finale. Likely a third place finish. Fox's animation block has new episodes from 8-10pm that will follow NFL action, so they will be boosted to second place.
As for the week (week 11), NBC and CBS will battle for first in 18-49, but NBC should have no problems taking it after the NFL tonight. Fox will be close as they have the NFL overrun tonight. ABC should be third in HH/viewers but might be fourth in 18-49. As for the coming week (week 12), we still have a lot of new episodes across the networks, including two new episodes of 2 Broke Girls, ABC Comedy Wednesday, the addicting Scandal following Bailey's wedding on Grey's Anatomy, and a new Big Bang Theory Christmas episode.

- The Simpsons (Fox) - A repeat at 8 did 4.38 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, which is decent for a repeat.
- The Cleveland Show (Fox) - A new episode at 7:30pm did only 3.37 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating. Not good.
- Bob's Burgers (Fox) - A new episode at 8:30pm did 3.97 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 week-to-week. Yes, lead-in was a repeat but still this show could be better. A repeat earlier in the night at 7 did only 1.78 million and a 0.8 18-49 rating.
- Family Guy (Fox) - A repeat episode at 9 did 4.28 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating. This show used to even repeat better.
- American Dad! (Fox) - A new episode did 4.25 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, but at least it built on its repeat lead-in, unlike Bob's Burgers.

- Raising Hope (Fox) - A new episode did 3.66 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, which is down four tenths in 18-49 week-to-week for a season low.
- Ben and Kate (Fox) - A new episode did only 2.6 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week.
- New Girl (Fox) - A new episode did a below normal 4.1 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, back down three tenths in 18-49 week-to-week, tying a season low and losing to the competing NBC comedy again.
- Go On (NBC) - A new episode did 6.67 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, beating the Fox comedy in 18-49 for the third straight week despite being down a tenth in 18-49 week-to-week.
- Happy Endings (ABC) - A new episode at 9 did 3.37 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating. Up from its last new airing two weeks prior.
- The Mindy Project (Fox) - The dud did only 2.68 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 week-to-week tying a series low and still lost to the NBC competing comedy. What a disappointment in the ratings.
- The New Normal (NBC) - A new episode beat the competing Fox comedy again with 4.55 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, on par in 18-49 week-to-week. Still not too good, but it still beat Fox's comedy.
- Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 (ABC) - A new episode at 9:30pm did 2.98 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating, which is up from its last new airing two weeks prior. So many comedies Tuesdays 9-10pm that everything is getting lost in the (live+SD) ratings.
- The Middle (ABC) - A new episode at 8 did 7.98 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, solid but a bit below normal thanks to not airing for a few weeks.
- Whitney (NBC) - A new episode did 3.92 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, which is not good.
- The Neighbors (ABC) - A new episode was consistent as usual with 6.42 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating.
- Guys with Kids (NBC) - A new episode did 3.59 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, which is not that great but could be worse.
- Modern Family (ABC) - A repeat, surrounded by new airings, did 8.36 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating. Very good for a repeat. New episode this Wednesday!
- Suburgatory (ABC) - A new episode did 6.09 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week as its lead-in was a repeat.
Thursday Sitcoms
- The Big Bang Theory (CBS) - At 8pm, a new showing did 16.94 million and a 5.2 18-49 rating, which is down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week, but still #1 for all entertainment series.
- Two and a Half Men (CBS) - A new episode did 13.5 million and a 4.0 18-49 rating, on par in 18-49 from previous week despite the lead-in dropping some.
- 30 Rock (NBC) - Yikes a new episode did just 3.22 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week for a series low. The series finale airs Jan. 31. Time to end it indeed.
- Up All Night (NBC) - Just 2.92 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating for this sophomore comedy, this was on par in 18-49 with previous week.
- The Office (NBC) - Season nine was a mistake as this show did just 4.16 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, but up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week.
- Parks & Recreation (NBC) - A new episode did just 3.27 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week.
- Last Man Standing (ABC) - Week six did a preliminary 6.57 million and a prelim 1.4 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week's prelim ratings. Still good enough, as it almost won its half-hour.
- Malibu Country (ABC) - The sixth episode of this new comedy did a preliminary 6.08 million and a prelim 1.4 18-49 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week's prelim ratings. It's still doing good enough for Fridays.
- None
Summing it up. The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, 2 Broke Girls, Mike &Molly, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family were impressive for the week. Everything else was OK (such as Suburgatory, Go On) or just plain terrible (such as 30 Rock, Up All Night, Ben & Kate, Mindy Project).

HBO has announced that Veep - The Complete First Season will be coming to Blu-ray and DVD on March 26. Award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfeld) stars in Veep, the new HBO comedy series created by Oscar nominee Armando Iannucci (In the Loop). A 3-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo will have a MSRP of $49.99. The 2-disc DVD version will have a MSRP of $39.98. Special features on both releases include 12 audio commentaries by the cast and crew, outtakes and deleted scenes, 2 featurettes ("The Making of Veep," and "Veep: Misspoke"), and a "Veep: Obesity" PSA.
BLOG FEATURE REVIEW
Package art has been posted for Lionsgate Entertainment's Cougar Town - The Complete Third Season. The 2-disc set will have a MSRP of $19.98 and is scheduled to be released on February 5. There's currently no listing for it on Amazon.com yet, but it should be available for pre-order soon. Lionsgate is also re-releasing the first two seasons at the same price on the same day, with the same cover art as the previous sets. As we previously mentioned, Cougar Town is returning for a fourth season on TBS starting Tuesday, January 8, 2013.
Before Lynda Carter took over the role, Cathy Lee Crosby starred in the 1974 pilot of Wonder Woman. Warner Archive Collection is releasing it this Tuesday, December 11. The single-disc set has a running time of 73 minutes and will cost $14.95 at WBShop.com. Ricardo Montalban plays the laconic lothario who lurks at the top of a conspiracy to make off with ultra-secret code books, leading Agent Prince to discover an Amazon sister-in-exile (Anitra Ford).
VEI's In Search of... - The Complete Series has apparently started shipping directly from their store (update: the set was received December 10). It's also available at Amazon.com and Amazon.ca, but there's no guarantee when it will be shipping. Your best bet would probably be to order it directly from VEI via their store. We'll keep you posted on any additional details. We plan on reviewing it soon in Digital Digest. Read TVShowsOnDVD.com's post on the delays for VEI's complete series sets.
Warner Archive is releasing Police Academy: The Animated Series - Volume One this Tuesday, December 11. The 1988-1989 animated spin-off ran for 2 seasons and 64 (or 65) episodes. The Volume One release will contain 30 episodes on 3 discs. It will be available as a MOD release.
Finally, Shout! Factory will be releasing Quincy, M.E. - Season 4 on Tuesday, December 18. They've already announced that Season 5 will be available on March 19. The 6-disc set will have a MSRP of $39.97.

Tuesday (December 11) has a nice mix of releases from various genres. 20th Century Fox has Futurama - Volume 7 on Blu-ray and DVD. HBO releases the critically acclaimed Girls - The Complete First Season in a Blu-ray/DVD combo and on DVD. Shout! Factory gives us Hazel - The Complete Fourth Season. Blog DVD Review: Perry Mason - Season 8, Volume 1 (CBS DVD, $49.99)

America's best defense attorney, Perry Mason (Raymond Burr) is back to prove the accused innocent and crush the dreams of more overzealous prosecutors (or really, just one) 15 more times in Perry Mason - Season 8, Volume 1! By now, you know the story (and formula) of the series: a person is accused of a crime that he or she "very clearly" committed based upon evidence, and Perry must go out of his way to show that his defendant not only did not commit the crime, but in many cases, is able to show who actually did. And in every single episode of the series, he always won. Always.
In the first episode of the season, "The Case of the Missing Button," blackmail during a divorce case accidentally leads to murder. Politics turns fatal in "The Case of the Paper Bullets." In "The Case of the Scandalous Sculptor," a woman is accused of killing the model whom her husband (an artist) is sculpting. A man turns up dead after he catches his niece stealing money from him in "The Case of the Sleepy Slayer." In "The Case of the Betrayed Bride," things don't go so well when a recently widowed aunt returns to town with a new husband, whom the family suspects is a gold-digging gigolo. An uncle ends up dead after his nephew suspects him of shady dealings in "The Nautical Knot." In "The Case of the Bullied Bowler," a conflict about a bowling alley that a woman is determined to get shut down turns in to much, much more when it actually is shut down. A trip to Switzerland is no vacation at all for Perry in "The Case of a Place Called Midnight."
A woman is determined to discredit a big-time movie producer whom she believes ruined her father's life in "The Case of the Tragic Trophy." In "The Case of the Reckless Rockhound," a woman is accused of killing her husband's ex-business partner. A probation officer is charged with murder in "The Case of the Latent Lover." A money exchange involving Confederate money turns to murder in "The Case of the Wooden Nickels." A woman hoping to represent a new fashion line is charged with murder in "The Case of the Blonde Bonanza" after the promoter of the fashion line turns up dead. When the boss of a young engineer turns up dead in "The Case of the Ruinous Road," Perry finds a lot of scandal everywhere. An aspiring singer is accused of murdering a shady agent in "The Case of the Frustrated Folk Singer."

CBS hasn't really bothered changing packaging much on these releases over the past few seasons, and this one is no different. The set comes packaged in a Viva case, with a large color photo of Perry on the front, and photos of other cast members above him. On the back, there are some black and white cast photos, along with a description of the set. Inside the case, you'll find a listing of all of the episodes, airdates, and descriptions, and of course the four discs. The first three discs contain four episodes each, while the fourth disc contains just three episodes. As in the past, the artwork for each disc is the standard CBS gray standard, with the series logo (not the actual one, but the one created for the DVD sets) and a listing of the episodes printed in gray on each disc.
If you've seen any of the previous fourteen releases of this series, it should be no surprise that the menus are very plain (but clean). Each menu has a listing of episodes, an option of Play All, and an option of Subtitles. There is a still photo of Perry on the side of the menu. And as in the past, chapters and menus are placed throughout each episode.
There has never been a video and audio quality issue with any of these sets, and this is no exception. It has consistently been very well cleaned up, with just a small amount of grain and debris and a little crackle in the audio... but it still looks much better than reruns aired on TV (and to be honest, even those look pretty good). Each episode contains English subtitles.
There are no special features on this set (once again), although it is worth mentioning that Volume 2 will have some "Law Day" promo one when it comes out. Still, we don't expect that to be too much, and it is likely that neither of the season 9 sets will have a lot either.
Much like the series itself, the DVDs have remained very consistent, and fans should be satisfied once again. I enjoy watching these episodes even more on DVD than I do on TV (although I have to admit, I'm nowhere near being caught up on all of them on DVD... there are just so many!), and even though you know exactly how every episode will end, it still doesn't take the fun out of the series. It is nice to know that the second half of this season is already scheduled in just a little over a month, which means we'll likely get the final two releases of this series very shortly after that. But until then, enjoy these 15 episodes, and pick up the older releases if you haven't already!

MeTV Network January 2013 Has Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie; Sitcom Stars on Talk Shows (Week of December 10, 2012)
It was only last Friday we told you about MeTV Network airing an I Dream of Jeannie stunt in memory of the late Larry Hagman and we hinted if the sitcom would be joining the actual MeTV line-up soon? Now we can tell you! I Dream of Jeannie will indeed join The MeTV Network regular schedule as part of their "new year" schedule starting December 31. But that's not all! The classic sitcom Bewitched will also join The MeTV Network line-up! As we have seen many times before on television, both sitcoms will be paired together and air back-to-back. Both series will air in the 8pm ET hour beginning Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 only on The MeTV Network. Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie will replace Remington Steele on the schedule and that drama will be totally off the line-up for now.
The rest of the line-up will have minor changes. Wagon Train joins the Saturday western line-up. Returning to the schedule are The Odd Couple and Honey West, while MeTV Network will bring in The Saint and Mr. Lucky in the overnight on Sunday nights. As we mentioned, Remington Steele is going to leave the schedule, as are the following shows: The Honeymooners, Cheers, Branded, & The Guns of Will Sonnett Schedule highlights include Dobie Gillis returning to weekdays, airing at 5am, while The Odd Couple returns to the schedule and will air in primetime at 10pm. As for upcoming stunts, the MeTV Sunday Showcase on Sunday, Dec. 23 will feature classic animated holiday specials from 3-7pm. Airing will be The First Snow of Winter, The Forgotten Toys, He-Man and She-Ra: A Christmas Special, A Snow White Christmas, and Cricket on the Hearth. We'll come back and detail the sitcom Christmas episodes airing on The MeTV Network but you can expect holiday episodes on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and even shows on hiatus might pop-up like Taxi.

Antenna TV Christmas 2012 Marathon Schedule; TV One New Original Sitcom Belle's Premieres in January
Probably the best place to watch classic Christmas episodes now is on Antenna TV! For the second straight year, spend the holidays with your favorite sitcom and drama stars as Antenna TV, Tribune Broadcasting's multicast broadcast network, airs non-stop holiday episodes on both Christmas Eve and Day (December 24 and 25). In addition, for the second straight year, a Burns and Allen Show and a Jack Benny marathon will air on New Year's Eve, followed by the 3rd Annual Three Stooges marathon on New Year's Day.
Antenna TV, which airs on 71 affiliates across the U.S. reaching 61% of TV households, will feature a weekend of holiday programming with Christmas episodes beginning at 11am ET on Monday, December 24 and running through 11:59pm ET on Tuesday, December 25. Holiday episodes of Leave it to Beaver, Dennis the Menace, Father Knows Best, Adam-12, Dragnet, The Partridge Family, Three's Company, Too Close for Comfort, Good Times, Sanford and Son, Maude, Hazel, Benson, All in the Family, WKRP in Cincinnati, Married with Children, Here Come the Brides, The Nanny, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show, Jack Benny Presets, The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin, The Monkees and S.W.A.T. will all air! Antenna TV will also air the original Yule Log uninterrupted from 5-9am ET on Christmas morning.
On New Year's Eve, Antenna TV will ring in 2013 with "The New Year's Eve Curtain Call with Benny and Burns & Allen," a Burns and Allen Show and a Jack Benny Program marathon (40 episodes/20 hours.) Beginning at 11am ET on Monday, December 31 and running through 7am ET on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. And when Antenna TV launched on January 1, 2011, the network made its debut with The Three Stooges. Antenna TV now airs a Three Stooges Marathon each year on New Year's Day to commemorate the anniversary. This January 1st, the marathon will air from 7am-3am ET (60 episodes/20 hours) immediately following Antenna TV's "The New Year's Eve Curtain Call with Benny and Burns & Allen" marathon.

A heaping order of family and laughter are on the menu when TV One premieres its latest original scripted series Belle's, a new comedy centered around widower William "Big Bill" Cooper who owns and operates his family's upscale soul food restaurant, on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 10:00 pm ET on TV One. The half-hour series, co-created by legendary Emmy(R) Award-winning producer Ed. Weinberger (Taxi, The Cosby Show), features an all-star cast including Keith David (The Cape, Crash), Elise Neal (All of Us, The Hughley's),Tami Roman (VH1's Basketball Wives), Ella Joyce (Roc) and Miguel Núñez (Juwanna Mann), and introduces young actress Nadja Alaya.
In addition to running the restaurant, Bill (Keith David) must deal with his two headstrong daughters: Jill (Elise Neal), the sensible hardworking manager of Belle's who also juggles being a single mom; and Loreta (Tami Roman), a stylish, self-absorbed prima donna whose ambitions alternate between a career in the music business and finding a rich husband. And if working with his daughters isn't challenging enough, Bill must deal with the temperamental chef at Belle's who also happens to be his - thorn-in-the-side sister-in-law, Gladys (Ella Joyce). Rounding out the family is cousin Maurice (Miguel Núñez), the irresponsible bartender and self-proclaimed ladies' man who is always in hot water; and Jill's savvy tween daughter Pam (Nadja Alaya), who seems to be the only one who has a handle on everyone and everything that happens in the family, and at Belle's.
Belle's takes a page from sitcoms of an earlier era by tackling hard hitting cultural issues through the prism of comedy and laughter. In the premiere episode, Jill rents out the restaurant to the Crawford family to host their annual family reunion. Just as the Coopers get ready to celebrate their sudden windfall, Big Bill is tormented to discover the Crawfords' once owned his wife's family during slavery.

ABC Mid-Season 2013 Schedule; Eric of JustMyShow.com Blogging On USA Today, Interviews Jason Ritter, Jay Sandrich
ABC announced midseason 2013 premiere dates for new dramas Red Widow and Zero Hour, along with new comedies How to Live with Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life) and Family Tools, and new alternative series The Taste and Celebrity Diving. Returning series Dancing with the Stars and Body of Proof will rejoin the schedule will all-new seasons in the new year, and Suburgatory will move to Wednesday nights at 8:30 p.m., beginning April 3, 2013.
First up, new innovative cooking competition show The Taste will feature celebrity chefs Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Ludo Lefebvre and Brian Malarkey, will debut with a special two-hour premiere on Tuesday, January 22 from 8:00-10:00pm ET, and will premiere in its regular time period from 8:00-9:00pm ET on Tuesday, January 29 with an 8 episode order. No words on what will air in the time period Jan. 1, 8 and 15, but ABC will likely air repeats/specials until The Taste launches. Also on Tuesdays, Body of Proof, starring the Emmy(R)-winning Dana Delany, will return to the schedule on Tuesday, February 5 at 10:00pm, ET, and will feature new cast member Mark Valley as Det. Tommy Sullivan, a former NYPD detective (and a bit of a lady killer) who has transferred back to Philadelphia to rekindle his relationship with Megan Hunt (Delany). Private Practice, which currently airs in the hour, will have its series finale in January (likely Jan. 22, as the series has three episodes left to air in 2013), but no official date has been announced yet.
Moving on, new thriller Zero Hour stars Anthony Edwards (ER) in his return to series television. Edwards' character, Hank Galliston, has spent his life debunking myths, only to be drawn into one of the most compelling mysteries in human history after his wife's shocking disappearance. Zero Hour will premiere on Thursday, February 14 at 8:00pm, ET for 13 episodes. The series will replace Last Resort, which will air three more episodes in 2013 to finish its 13-episode run. Next, Red Widow, from Twilight Saga films writer Melissa Rosenberg and starring Radha Mitchell, is a riveting new drama about one woman's journey into the world of organized crime, and how far she will go to keep her family safe. Red Widow will debut with a two-hour premiere on Sunday, March 3 from 9:00-11:00pm, ET launching a week after the Academy Awards, and premiere in its regular timeslot, Sunday nights at 10:00pm, ET, on Sunday, March 10 following Revenge for 8 episodes. The series will replace 666 Park Avenue on the schedule, which has 4 episodes left to air in 2013 (likely twice in January and twice in February).
Dancing with the Stars will return for a 16th season on Monday, March 18 at 8:00-10:00pm, ET and Dancing with the Stars the Results Show will debut the following week on Tuesday, March 26 at 9:00pm, ET. The Monday edition will take over for The Bachelor after it finishes its season and presumably the Tuesday edition will take over for Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23. The Tuesday edition moves back to 9pm, as it aired at 8pm this past fall. Celebrity Diving, based on the international hit reality series Celebrity Splash, will premiere on Tuesday, March 19 at 8:00pm, ET, leading into Dancing on Tuesdays, and will feature as judges legendary Olympic diver and four-time gold medalist Greg Louganis, along with David Boudia, who brought home the gold for diving at the 2012 London Olympics.
Then we have some comedy changes. Critically acclaimed Wednesday comedy Suburgatory will move to at 8:30pm ET as of Wednesday, April 3, one week after the season finale of The Neighbors. As The Neighbors returns with original episodes on Wednesday, January 9, and runs for 12 straight weeks. New comedy How to Live with Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life)" features Sarah Chalke (Scrubs) as a recently divorced single mom who moves back in with her eccentric parents, played by the multitalented and critically acclaimed Elizabeth Perkins and Brad Garrett. The series premieres on Wednesday, April 3 at 9:30pm ET after Modern Family and has a 13 episode order. And finally, upcoming new comedy Family Tools debuts on Wednesday, May 1 at 8:30pm ET and stars Kyle Bornheimer, J.K. Simmons and Leah Remini in a new family comedy that proves mixing family with business is never easy. Family Tools will take over for Suburgatory in this new timeslot following its season finale. The series has a 10 episode order, so will likely spill into early summer.

Moving on, our good friend Eric of Just My Show is guest blogging for USA Today's Pop Candy all this week! Among the interviews Eric has done for Pop Candy is Monday's edition featuring Jason Ritter. The ladies love Jason Ritter. The 32-year-old actor, the son of the late John Ritter, has been a series regular on Joan of Arcadia, The Class, The Event and is now in his fourth season as Mark Syr on NBC's Parenthood. Eric talks to him of course about Parenthood but also snuck in a few questions on his father's classic sitcom Three's Company. Read the interview! On Tuesday, Eric interviewed Jay Sandrich. He of course directed the majority of episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Cosby Show and Soap. In his spare time, he also directed the pilots of The Golden Girls, Empty Nest, A Different World and WKRP. Throw in a bunch of Bob Newhart episodes, a handful of Benson episodes and a few Night Court episodes for good measure. Can we just agree that he's a legend? ABC Family January 2013 Has Return of Full House; The Hub Holidays Has Sabrina and Launch of Animaniacs
ABC Family is making some schedule changes as soon as the 2012 25 Days of Christmas event is finished. On Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, ABC Family will bring back Full House to the regular schedule! We mentioned it will get a Christmas episode airing in 25 Days of Christmas, but now it is back regularly! The sitcom will air in two-hour block airing weekdays from 12pm-2pm replacing an hour each of What I Like About You and 8 Simple Rules. Those two shows will be going on hiatus for now, so we'll let you know if and when they return. Their last airings for now are Dec. 14 as Christmas programming airs weeks of Dec. 17 and 24. From 2-6pm, the two-hour blocks of That '70s Show and Reba will be switching time periods, as Reba will now air from 2-4pm followed by That '70s Show from 4-6pm. Movies or original series encores will follow at 6pm. Everything else in the daytime will stay as it is now such as Boy Meets World from 7-9:30am and Gilmore Girls at 11am. And in late night, an hour of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air will remain at midnight.
Elsewhere on ABC Family January 2013, a New Year's Day marathon of original series Bunheads will air from 11am-6pm, as the new season begins on Monday, Jan. 7 at 9pm. A Switched at Birth marathon will air on Monday, Jan. 7 from 11am-8pm leading into the season premiere at 8pm. The very next day, those liars are back with an all-new season of Pretty Little Liars at 8pm on Tuesday, Jan. 8, as a marathon will lead-in from 11am-8pm. The season premiere of The Lying Game will follow at 9pm. As for movies, the network television premieres for January are Burlesque, Letters to Juliet, Ramona and Beezus and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'hoole. ABC Family movie premieres for the month are A Lot Like Love, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, RV, Furry Vengeance, Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, Drumline, Cinderella, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. This holiday season, The Hub TV Network celebrates the holiday season by adding the outrageous animated television series Animaniacs, executive produced by Steven Spielberg, to the programming lineup. A broad mix of wit, slapstick, and pop culture references, the animated series from Amblin Entertainment and Warner Brothers Animation will serve as a cornerstone of The Hub's month-long lineup of holiday-themed programming. The series will premiere with a four-hour marathon on Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24 from 4-8pm ET followed by the holiday-themed musical feature film Animaniacs: Wakko's Wish Monday, December 24 from 8-10pm ET. Animaniacs will continue on the network's schedule in 2013 premiering in its regular timeslot on Monday, January 7 at 3pm ET.
Animaniacs is considered a variety show, with short skits featuring a large cast of characters including the Warner brothers, Yakko and Wakko, and their sister, Dot – three inseparable siblings – as they have a great time wreaking havoc and mayhem in the lives of everyone they meet. The series also features a number of comedic educational segments, often in musical form. Distributed by Warner Brothers Television, Animaniacs originally ran from 1993 through 1998 and established itself with both younger audiences and adult viewers as one of the most successful and popular animated series of the decade.
In addition, during the holiday season The Hub TV Network will count down to a special 48-hour lineup of holiday-themed programming on Monday, December 24 and Tuesday, December 25 highlighted by movies, specials, and series in the spirit of the season featuring a special six-episode, Christmas-themed marathon of the popular Melissa Joan Hart sitcom Sabrina, The Teenage Witch from 7-10am ET on Christmas morning followed by two holiday-themed television specials Atomic Betty: The No-L 9 at 10am ET and The Christmas Toy at 11am ET. 30 Rock Series Finale on Jan. 31, NBC Alters Thursday/Fridays in Mid-season 2013; Donald Faison Hosts TBS Show
It's time for 30 Rock to say goodbye. The critically acclaimed but ratings challenged comedy will end after its seventh season order of 13 episodes is complete on Jan. 31. Community returns the following week on Feb. 7. In addition, NBC will premiere the new drama Do No Harm on the same night on Thursday, January 31 at 10pm ET following the hour-long series finale of the Emmy Award-winning 30 Rock (8-9pm ET) earlier that same night. The new drama was announced at upfront for March on Sundays at 10, but NBC has changed their mind. As a result of this change on Thursdays, Rock Center with Brian Williams will move to Fridays beginning February 8 at 10pm ET following Dateline NBC, which moves to an earlier slot of 9pm ET. Grimm will return to the schedule on Friday, March 8 at 9pm ET after taking February off. No word on what will happen to Dateline NBC starting March 8, as Rock Center with Brian Williams will be airing in the 10pm hour from Feb. 8 to May 31. Presumably, Dateline will get its annual second slot on Sundays at 7pm beginning Jan. 6. New drama Do No Harm has 12 episodes and will run through April 11. No words on what will air Thursdays at 10 starting April 18.

Still no premiere dates have yet to be announced for the Anne Heche comedy Save Me, the mutli-camera premiere for Up All Night, or the new drama Hannibal. Also, returning reality entry Fashion Star still has not been scheduled, as during upfront it was slated to return in March airing Sundays 8-9pm, but NBC changed their mind and will air two-hour episodes of new reality entry Ready for Love from 8-10pm leading into Celebrity Apprentice at 10. Donald Faison (Scrubs, The Exes) is coming to TBS as host of Who Gets the Last Laugh?, the latest series from Punk'd co-creators Jason Goldberg and Ashton Kutcher. The series will feature some of the most well known comedians and comedy actors in entertainment today competing to pull the most outrageous practical jokes. The lineup includes Andy Dick (Newsradio), Tom Green (The Tom Green Show), D.L. Hughley (The Hughleys), Chris Kattan (The Middle, Saturday Night Live), Bam Margera (Jackass), Bill Bellamy (Any Given Sunday), Charlie Murphy (Chappelle's Show), Cheri Oteri (Saturday Night Live) and Alan Thicke (Growing Pains), among others.
Set to premiere on TBS in spring 2013, Who Gets the Last Laugh? puts a new twist on the comedy format by pitting three comedians against each other in the ultimate hidden camera comedy sketch challenge. The guest comedians must dream up the funniest and most outrageous sketches possible and then successfully unleash them on the unsuspecting public. A live audience then determines which comedy star really got the last laugh and wins $10,000 for their charity of choice.
Donald currently also stars on the TV Land sitcom The Exes which returns in 2013 with ten more episodes to conclude its 22-episode second season. He is best known to television audiences for his role as Dr. Christopher Turk, which he played for nine years on the hit series Scrubs. He earned five NAACPTM Image Award nominations and won two BET Comedy Awards for his performance on the show. Faison's extensive film credits include Clueless, Something New, Remember the Titans, Waiting to Exhale, King's Ransom, Uptown Girls, Josie and the Pussycats, Can't Hardly Wait, Big Fat Liar and Juice. For television, Faison reprised his role from Clueless for the spinoff television series, co-starred in the acclaimed J.J. Week 10 (Nov. 26-Dec. 2) Analysis: We're into the holiday season but we still have some new episodes left in December. The final first four night averages are not available, as we don't have network final averages for Thursday...but we do have final Thursday program ratings below. We can project that through the first four nights that CBS has the lead in 18-49 and total viewers. ABC should be second in both measure, while NBC is a close third in adults 18-49. NBC is more of a distant third in total viewers, while Fox is way back in fourth in both measures. When the week is done, NBC will get probably come back and take week in 18-49 once again thanks to the NFL tonight. CBS has the NFL overrun tonight, so they could hold on to first place, but we'll see. More on that later. As for last week, week 9, NBC was first in adults 18-49, a full point higher than second place Fox. ABC was a a tenth behind for third place, while CBS was back in fourth. Among total viewers, NBC took that crown as well, while normal winner CBS was second. ABC was a close third. Fox was well back in fourth.
Monday had NBC on top in adults 18-49 and also had the edge in total viewer since Dancing on ABC was only an hour. Starting with ABC, a one-hour Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars - The Finals did 16.3 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, up three tenths in 18-49 from previous week when it was two-hours. What a great final! Castle was preempted, as ABC aired a two-part Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - Holidays as the 9pm hour did 6.55 million but just a 1.3 18-49 rating. Part two followed with 5.28 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating. Needs to do better and perhaps it will tomorrow night when it airs 8-10pm, as a new holiday episode of Castle airs at 10. For NBC, a two-hour The Voice, did 12.17 million and a night best 4.2 18-49 rating, up five tenths in 18-49 from previous week's Monday season low. 9pm hour was helped out a lot as it didn't face Dancing. The fall finale of Revolution followed with 8.54 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, up three tenths in 18-49 with previous week. Now it is off the schedule until late March, which is not a good idea, I think. Next up was CBS with new episodes, as How I Met Your Mother did 8.73 million and a 3.3 18-49 rating, up four tenths in 18-49 from the previous week. A repeat of The Big Bang Theory came in and did 8.97 million and a 3.2 18-49 rating, which is up 1.2 points in 18-49 from previous week's repeat of Men. Wow. A new 2 Broke Girls followed with 11.74 million and a 4.1 18-49 rating, which is up seven tenths in 18-49 from previous week as the lead-in was obviously higher and more importantly no Dancing on ABC. Next, a new Mike & Molly garnered 11.29 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating, which is also up seven tenths in 18-49 from the previous week thanks to not facing Dancing head-to-head. A new Hawaii Five-0 at 10pm did 10.3 million and a 2.3 18-49, again up a tenth in 18-49 week-to-week. Fox was next with a new Bones doing 7.96 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, up four tenths in 18-49 from previous week. A good showing. A new episode of dud The Mob Doctor did only 3.93 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, but up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Are the 13 episodes up yet? The CW aired a new 90210 at 8 with just 970,000 viewers and a 0.5 18-49 rating, but up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. And a new Gossip Girl followed with just 840,000 viewers and a 0.4 18-49 rating, which is horrendous but on par in 18-49 with previous week.

And finally at 10pm, a new Vegas did 9.35 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week. Onto ABC, at 8pm the annual classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas did a solid 8.37 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating. At 8:30pm the new classic Shrek the Halls did a similar 8.44 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating. from 9-11pm Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars: The Results Finale did 16.73 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, up a full point in 18-49 from previous week when it aired 8-9pm. Congrats to Melissa Rycroft in taking the trophy...well deserved and "now she has one, too," as Tom Bergeron said. Happy Endings, Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 and Private Practice were preempted. NBC started off with The Voice doing 11.57 million and a 3.8 rating, up four tenths in 18-49 from previous week. At 9pm, new comedy Go On did 6.06 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, but up four tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Without the big lead-in this show doesn't do too well. A new episode of The New Normal followed with 4.04 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. A new Parenthood at 10pm did 4.49 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. Fox had its comedies with a new Raising Hope doing 3.87 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, up three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. A new episode of Ben and Kate followed with only 2.82 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, also up three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. A new New Girl was up next with 4.12 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, up three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Needs to do better as it lost to NBC's competing comedy for the first time in awhile. And finally a new The Mindy Project did just 2.76 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. This show is just doing terrible and Fox quickly ordered a full season without looking at ratings. The CW had a new Hart of Dixie at 8pm and did 1.39 million and a 0.5 18-49 rating, on par with previous week. New series Emily Owens MD, which is now canned, followed with only 1.05 million and a 0.3 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. Not good.
Wednesday had Fox with the edge in 18-49, but ABC and CBS were just a tenth behind. First, CBS started the night off with week eleven of Survivor: Philippines at 10.37 million and a 2.7 18-49, up obviously from previous week when it aired on Thanksgiving Eve. Veteran drama Criminal Minds followed at 9 with 12.37 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, also up some from previous week. A new CSI at 10 did 12.11 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating. ABC kicked off the night with their first airing of A Charlie Brown Christmas doing 8.85 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, up from last season's first airing. At 9pm, an all-new episode of Modern Family did 12.01 million and a 4.7 18-49 rating, very good as usual. A new Suburgatory followed with 6.73 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating. At 10pm, a new Nashville did 5.69 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating. What a great show that will win a lot of awards this coming season. On Fox, a new two-hour The X Factor did 8.2 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, up from previous week's Thanksgiving Eve telecast. Onto NBC, Whitney and Guys with Kids were preempted (thankfully) for the annual Christmas at Rockefeller Center doing 9.14 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, skewing old but up from last season. From 9-11pm Law & Order: SVU and Chicago Fire were preempted from 9-11pm as NBC aired a new SNL Christmas doing a solid 7.36 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, higher than what they usually do from 9-11pm. The CW aired a new episode of Arrow and did great with 3.74 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating. At 9, a new Supernatural posted 2.0 million and a 0.8 18-49 rating, which is decent.
On Thursday, CBS took the night in both 18-49 and total viewers. Starting with ABC, a new Last Resort did 5.2 million and a 1.0 18-49 rating for a series low. I wish this show was doing better, there's nothing like it on TV. A new Grey's Anatomy followed at 9pm did 8.95 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating, solid as usual and great for a show in season nine. At 10pm, an electrifying episode of Scanal did well with 6.64 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating. I think it will be higher this week as we see the conclusion. #WhoShotFitz? CBS had a night of new episodes. They opened with a new The Big Bang Theory doing 17.25 million and a 5.5 18-49 rating, a clear #1 for scripted TV for the week. A new Two and a Half Men was up next with 13.74 million and a 4.0 18-49 rating, solid as usual. At 9pm, a new Person of Interest followed with 14.43 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, which is normal for this show. At 10pm, a new Elementary closed the night with 10.46 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, which was tied for first. It could be second place this week. Fox had The X Factor start the night with 8.32 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating. Then at 9 a new Glee did 5.39 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, which isn't that good for this show. NBC had a dreadful night. A new 30 Rock did 3.61 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating at 8pm. At 8:30pm, a new Up All Night was worse with 2.97 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating. Switching to multi-camera will make this show do even lower, I think. At 9, a new The Office did bad with 3.88 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, for more lows. Awful. At 9:30, a new Parks & Recreation did horrible with 2.99 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating. Eek. And it got worse at 10pm with a new Rock Center with Brian Williams doing just 3.45 million and a 0.9 18-49 rating. A historic low for NBC on this Thursday. The CW's big gun Vampire Diaries was new and did 2.86 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, which is great for the network. New series Beauty and the Beast also was new and did 1.52 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating, but could be better.
Now, final numbers for Friday and Saturday are not available, but ABC and CBS were tied for the 18-49 crown. A new Last Man Standing won its half hour at 8pm on ABC and Malibu Country was solid, but CBS took the hour with Undercover Boss. A repeat of the surging Shark Tank won the 9pm hour beating a new CSI: NY. Fox and NBC were not in the mix with college football and repeats. At 10pm, ABC's 20/20 won the hour beating CBS and NBC.
Saturday belonged to Fox as their college football coverage beat the coverage on ABC, which is rare. NBC's airing of It's a Wonderful Life didn't do much.

Next, a new Mike & Molly garnered 11.29 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating, which is also up seven tenths in 18-49 from the previous week thanks to not facing Dancing head-to-head. A new Hawaii Five-0 at 10pm did 10.3 million and a 2.3 18-49, again up a tenth in 18-49 week-to-week. Fox was next with a new Bones doing 7.96 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, up four tenths in 18-49 from previous week. A good showing. A new episode of dud The Mob Doctor did only 3.93 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, but up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Are the 13 episodes up yet? The CW aired a new 90210 at 8 with just 970,000 viewers and a 0.5 18-49 rating, but up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. And a new Gossip Girl followed with just 840,000 viewers and a 0.4 18-49 rating, which is horrendous but on par in 18-49 with previous week.
On Tuesday, it was ABC with the edge in 18-49 and CBS with the edge in total viewers. Starting with CBS, a new episode of NCIS did 19.76 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating rating, which is up six tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Next a new episode of NCIS: Los Angeles did 14.49 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. And finally at 10pm, a new Vegas did 9.35 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, down two tenths from previous week. Onto ABC, at 8pm the annual classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas did a solid 8.37 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating. At 8:30pm the new classic Shrek the Halls did a similar 8.44 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating. from 9-11pm Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars: The Results Finale did 16.73 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, up a full point in 18-49 from previous week when it aired 8-9pm. Congrats to Melissa Rycroft in taking the trophy...well deserved and "now she has one, too," as Tom Bergeron said. Happy Endings, Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 and Private Practice were preempted. NBC started off with The Voice doing 11.57 million and a 3.8 rating, up four tenths in 18-49 from previous week. At 9pm, new comedy Go On did 6.06 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, but up four tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Without the big lead-in this show doesn't do too well. A new episode of The New Normal followed with 4.04 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. A new Parenthood at 10pm did 4.49 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. Fox had its comedies with a new Raising Hope doing 3.87 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, up three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. A new episode of Ben and Kate followed with only 2.82 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, also up three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. A new New Girl was up next with 4.12 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, up three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Needs to do better as it lost to NBC's competing comedy for the first time in awhile. And finally a new The Mindy Project did just 2.76 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. This show is just doing terrible and Fox quickly ordered a full season without looking at ratings. The CW had a new Hart of Dixie at 8pm and did 1.39 million and a 0.5 18-49 rating, on par with previous week. New series Emily Owens MD, which is now canned, followed with only 1.05 million and a 0.3 18-49 rating, down a tenth from previous week. Not good.
Wednesday had Fox with the edge in 18-49, but ABC and CBS were just a tenth behind. First, CBS started the night off with week eleven of Survivor: Philippines at 10.37 million and a 2.7 18-49, up obviously from previous week when it aired on Thanksgiving Eve. Veteran drama Criminal Minds followed at 9 with 12.37 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, also up some from previous week. A new CSI at 10 did 12.11 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating. ABC kicked off the night with their first airing of A Charlie Brown Christmas doing 8.85 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, up from last season's first airing. At 9pm, an all-new episode of Modern Family did 12.01 million and a 4.7 18-49 rating, very good as usual. A new Suburgatory followed with 6.73 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating. At 10pm, a new Nashville did 5.69 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating. What a great show that will win a lot of awards this coming season. On Fox, a new two-hour The X Factor did 8.2 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, up from previous week's Thanksgiving Eve telecast. Onto NBC, Whitney and Guys with Kids were preempted (thankfully) for the annual Christmas at Rockefeller Center doing 9.14 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, skewing old but up from last season. From 9-11pm Law & Order: SVU and Chicago Fire were preempted from 9-11pm as NBC aired a new SNL Christmas doing a solid 7.36 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, higher than what they usually do from 9-11pm. The CW aired a new episode of Arrow and did great with 3.74 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating. At 9, a new Supernatural posted 2.0 million and a 0.8 18-49 rating, which is decent.
On Thursday, CBS took the night in both 18-49 and total viewers. Starting with ABC, a new Last Resort did 5.2 million and a 1.0 18-49 rating for a series low. I wish this show was doing better, there's nothing like it on TV. A new Grey's Anatomy followed at 9pm did 8.95 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating, solid as usual and great for a show in season nine. At 10pm, an electrifying episode of Scanal did well with 6.64 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating. I think it will be higher this week as we see the conclusion. #WhoShotFitz? CBS had a night of new episodes. They opened with a new The Big Bang Theory doing 17.25 million and a 5.5 18-49 rating, a clear #1 for scripted TV for the week. A new Two and a Half Men was up next with 13.74 million and a 4.0 18-49 rating, solid as usual. At 9pm, a new Person of Interest followed with 14.43 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, which is normal for this show. At 10pm, a new Elementary closed the night with 10.46 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, which was tied for first. It could be second place this week. Fox had The X Factor start the night with 8.32 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating. Then at 9 a new Glee did 5.39 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, which isn't that good for this show. NBC had a dreadful night. A new 30 Rock did 3.61 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating at 8pm. At 8:30pm, a new Up All Night was worse with 2.97 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating. Switching to multi-camera will make this show do even lower, I think. At 9, a new The Office did bad with 3.88 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, for more lows. Awful. At 9:30, a new Parks & Recreation did horrible with 2.99 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating. Eek. And it got worse at 10pm with a new Rock Center with Brian Williams doing just 3.45 million and a 0.9 18-49 rating. A historic low for NBC on this Thursday. The CW's big gun Vampire Diaries was new and did 2.86 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, which is great for the network. New series Beauty and the Beast also was new and did 1.52 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating, but could be better.
Now, final numbers for Friday and Saturday are not available, but ABC and CBS were tied for the 18-49 crown. A new Last Man Standing won its half hour at 8pm on ABC and Malibu Country was solid, but CBS took the hour with Undercover Boss. A repeat of the surging Shark Tank won the 9pm hour beating a new CSI: NY. Fox and NBC were not in the mix with college football and repeats. At 10pm, ABC's 20/20 won the hour beating CBS and NBC.
Saturday belonged to Fox as their college football coverage beat the coverage on ABC, which is rare. NBC's airing of It's a Wonderful Life didn't do much.
Tonight ABC Sunday has all-new episodes of AFV, Once Upon a Time, Revenge and 666 Park Avenue. The latter three are fall finales, so they should be up from previous week. Look for Once to be #1 in scripted series tonight, as ABC should be a solid third for the night behind football driven networks NBC and CBS. NBC will be #1 with the NFL matchup between the struggling Cowboys and Eagles. CBS is also all-new tonight with 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, The Good Wife and The Mentalist. They have the overrun this week, so look for some delays to those shows and a boost in ratings that will cause the line-up to be second place. Fox's animation block has new episodes of The Cleveland Show, Bob's Burgers, and American Dad. So their two big guns are in repeats.
As for the week (week 10), NBC and CBS will battle for first in 18-49. It all depends on the NFL tonight for both networks. ABC should be third and Fox in fourth. As for the coming week (week 11), we still have a lot of new episodes across the networks, including the Shark Tank holiday event on a special night/time of Tuesday at 8/7c. Is Mr. Wonderful really the Grinch or is he Scrooge? New Christmas episodes are also starting this week which includes ABC Comedy Wednesday.

- The Simpsons (Fox) - An all-new episode at 8 did 7.46 million and a 3.3 18-49 rating, up nine tenths in 18-49 from previous week but it was inflated because of the NFL lead-in. Still good, but not really what it can do these days.
- The Cleveland Show (Fox) - A new episode at a special time of 9:30pm did only 4.32 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating.
- Bob's Burgers (Fox) - A new episode at 8:30pm did 4.66 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 week-to-week, but should be higher thanks to a higher lead-in.
- Family Guy (Fox) - A new episode at 9 did 5.77 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating still below normal but up three tenths in 18-49 week-to-week.
- American Dad! (Fox) - preempted.
Monday Sitcoms
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS) - A new episode did 8.73 million and a 3.3 18-49 rating, which is up four tenths in 18-49 from previous week.
- The Big Bang Theory (CBS) - A repeat on a special night did 8.97 million and a 3.2 18-49 rating, up 1.2 points in 18-49 from previous week's repeat of Men. Holy cow.
- 2 Broke Girls (CBS) - 11.74 million and a 4.1 18-49 rating is up seven tenths in 18-49 from previous week. As I said last week, when lesser competition arises in December it will go up. Dancing takes away some of its ratings and it didn't face it on this night hence it went up (and also helped a bit by the Bang repeat leading in). Little bit of both.
- Mike & Molly (CBS) - A new episode did 11.29 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating, which is also up seven tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Not facing Dancing head-to-head is key.
Tuesday Sitcoms
- Raising Hope (Fox) - A new episode did 3.87 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, which is up three tenths week-to-week.
- Ben and Kate (Fox) - A new episode did only 2.82 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating Not good!

- The Big Bang Theory (CBS) - At 8pm, a new showing did 17.25 million and a 5.5 18-49 rating, which is the top entertainment show airing of the week. Wow.
- Two and a Half Men (CBS) - A new episode did 13.74 million and a 4.0 18-49 rating. Thanks to the lead-in, it does well. But only a few tenths better than Rules of Engagement.
- 30 Rock (NBC) - Yikes a new episode did just 3.61 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, as the series finale airs Jan. 31. Time to end it indeed.
- Up All Night (NBC) - Just 2.97 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating for this sophomore comedy.
- The Office (NBC) - Season nine was a mistake as this show did just 3.88 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating.
- Parks & Recreation (NBC) - A new episode did just 2.99 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating. Horrible night for NBC.
- Last Man Standing (ABC) - Week five did a preliminary 6.8 million and a prelim 1.6 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week's prelim ratings and winning its half-hour. Good for Fridays!
- Malibu Country (ABC) - The fifth episode of this new comedy did a preliminary 6.33 million and a prelim 1.5 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week's prelim ratings. It's doing good enough for Fridays.
- None
Summing it up. The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, 2 Broke Girls, Mike &Molly, Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, were impressive for the week. Everything else was OK (such as New Girl, Go On) or just plain terrible (such as 30 Rock, Up All Night, Parks & Recreation, Ben & Kate).

Digital Digest: Anger Management - Season One Arrives January 8; The Flintstones - I Yabba-Dabba Do! & Hollyrock-A-Bye Baby DVD Reviews
Welcome to Digital Digest! We've hit December already. Hopefully it's not too cold in your neck of the woods. News has picked up a bit this week. We have details on Anger Management's upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release, a preview of Tuesday's releases, and reviews of Warner Archive's The Flintstones - I Yabba-Dabba Do! & The Flintstones - Hollyrock-A-Bye-Baby. Let's get going!

FX's Anger Management, starring Charlie Sheen, will be arriving on Blu-ray and DVD on January 8. Lionsgate Home Entertainment will release all 10 season one episodes from the highest rated new comedy series on cable. The 2-disc Blu-ray and DVD sets will have a MSRP of $29.97 and $29.98, respectively. Special features will include
"Charlie's Baby" (New Interviews with Charlie Sheen, the cast and the series' creator),
"Behind The Couch: Meet Charlie's Patients" (On set with the anger-impaired therapy group and the actors who play them), and "Anger Mismanagement" (Gag Reel).
Shout! Factory will release the short-lived Mike Judge animated series The Goode Family on January 8. The 2009 ABC series featured the voices of Mike Judge, Nancy Carell, Linda Cardellini and Brian Doyle-Murray. The Goode Family - The Complete Series will be a 2-disc set and have a $22.97 MSRP. Special features will include and interviews with cast and crew, unaired scripts, and original promos.
Lionsgate has scheduled Nurse Jackie - Season Four on Blu-ray and DVD for February 12. The 2-disc Blu-ray version will have a MSRP of $39.98. The 3-disc DVD version will have a $39.98 MSRP. Special features are not finalized, but both versions will include cast and crew commentaries, gag reel, "Cruz Control" Featurette: Bobby and Jake Cannavale Rock Season 4, and "On the Floor at All Saints" Featurette: Includes interviews with the nurses of All Saints. Lionsgate has also released the artwork for Weeds - The Final Season on Blu-ray and DVD, which are scheduled to be released on February 12.
We told you about Sony's MOD January 1 release of I Dream of Jeannie: 15 Years Later last week. TVShowsOnDVD.com has posted the artwork for the 1985 I Dream of Jeannie television movie. Sadly we lost Larry Hagman last week. He didn't return for the television reunion movies because he thought playing the character for five seasons was enough. Artwork has been released for Charlie's Angels - The Complete Fifth Season, which also arrives as a MOD release on January 1.
Last week we mentioned that Pan Am - The Complete Series was coming to DVD January 29 at a $30.99 MSRP. TVShowsOnDVD.com has posted the artwork for Sony's 3-disc set that will contain all 14 episodes of the short-lived ABC series. Special features will include Becoming a Pan Am Stewardess, The Berlin Set, The Life of a Stewardess, The Plane Set, and an Interview with Former Pan Am Stewardess & Executive Producer Nancy Hult Ganis.
Finally, we gave you some details on TBS' Windows 8 app on Wednesday. Users can watch videos from a wide range of comedy shows on TBS, including the late-night hit Conan; primetime originals like Men at Work, Sullivan & Son and Cougar Town; and acquired favorites like The Big Bang Theory and Family Guy. Highlights of the new TBS app include the Main Hub where comedy fans can dive right in with full access to featured video clips, TBS shows and the full TBS schedule. Personalized content will allow users can easily scroll through and view the wide array of comedy to find that perfect nerdism from The Big Bang Theory or the snappiest comeback from Men at Work. Featured Videos will include user favorites, like a classic Family Guy musical number. The TBS app for Windows 8 is now available for free download from the Windows Store.

DVD Review: The Flintstones - I Yabba-Dabba Do! & The Flintstones - Hollyrock-A-Bye Baby (Warner Archive, $14.95 each)

Two classic '90s Flintstones primetime TV movies are now available on DVD from Warner Archive Collection! Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm are finally getting married...or are they? Thanks to the feuding of Fred and Barney, the Flintstones and the Rubbles may never talk to each other again! Will these star crossed lovers ever tie the knot? Watch your favorite stone age family's movie, I Yabba-Dabba Do and find out!!! And in Hollyrock-A-Bye-Baby, the Rubbles and the Flintstones head out west to glamorous Hollyrock to visit Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm after discovering they are going to be grandparents.
We have been getting the primetime specials on DVD from Warner Archive. It started with the 1977 A Flintstone Christmas. Last year, Warner Archive Collection gave us that special and also the 1993 A Flintstone Family Christmas special. Then we got The Flintstones Meet Rockula and Frankenstone (1979) and Flintstones Little Big League (1978) in a primetime specials volume 1 DVD. Then the remaining four specials came out in volume 2: The Flintstones' New Neighbors (1980), Fred's Final Fling (1980), Wind-Up Wilma (1981) and Jogging Fever (1981). Now we have two separate releases showcasing Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm in I Yabba-Dabba Do! (1993) and Hollyrock-a-Bye Baby (1993). In I Yabba-Dabba Do! (91:33), Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm are finally getting married...or are they? Thanks to the feuding of Fred and Barney, the Flintstones and the Rubbles may never talk to each other again! Will these star crossed lovers ever tie the knot? In Hollyrock-A-Bye-Baby (91:32), The Rubbles and the Flintstones head out west to glamorous Hollyrock to visit Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm after discovering they are going to be grandparents. But Pebbles is busy with her advertising career, while Bamm-Bamm is trying desperately to sell his screenplay and neither is prepared to deal with an over-extended parental visit. As Wilma and Betty try to take charge of baby prep, Fred and Barney set out to peddle Bamm-Bamm's screenplay, against his express wishes. Hollyrock players (including one voiced by Raquel Welch!), crime bosses and bowling bags add to the confusion before the next generation arrives on the scene. Each movie has 9 chapter stops each.
The packaging for this set is pretty standard and similar to the other Warner Archive releases for The Flintstone specials. For I Yabba-Dabba Do!, on the cover we have Barney, Betty, Fred, Wilma and Dino looking at Bamm-Bamm and Pebbles, as Pebbles has an engagement ring on. On the back, there is a nice photo of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm at the altar with Dino looking on, along with info on the special and set. Inside the case, it is pretty bland again. There is no artwork on the panels again. There is one disc and it is on the right panel. The disc artwork has the same artwork as the cover art with the franchise logo imprinted on it. For Hollyrock-A-Bye-Baby, on the cover we have a nice family photo of the gang with Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm's new newborns! Even Fred's mother-in-law is there! On the back, there is a nice photo of star struck Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty, and Dino, along with info on the special and set. Inside the case, it is pretty bland again. There is no artwork on the panels again. There is one disc and it is on the right panel. The disc artwork has the same artwork as the cover art with the franchise logo imprinted on it. All similar to previous releases for primetime specials.
The main menus aren't very exciting for both, but it is perfectly functional. For I Yabba-Dabba Do!, the main menu has a nice wedding shot of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm inside a heart and a pink background. For Hollyrock-A-Bye-Baby, we have Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm by the crib of their baby with Dino watching and we have a nice blue background. No music is playing in the background for either set. The theme song would have been nice? We have a Play Movie option on both sets. There are no options for anything else, so it is simple. As mentioned, we have 9 chapter stops for both movies and they have the correct placements. All this is similar to the other primetime specials DVDs.
The video and audio quality of both sets look fine, for the most part. Both movies were from 1993, so they both look the same. There are white dots here and there, but it is still good. I give the quality an edge over the 1977-81 specials, so you can expect better audio and video here. There are no real major problems for both movies, so don't worry about it. As for the audio quality, it is clear and crisp. Unfortunately there are no subtitles or closed-captioning. The movies originally aired on ABC in 1993. Nothing much else to say, it is simple and it works.
There are no special features obviously on these sets since it is just two movies. Perhaps maybe some promos or other archival items for these two would have been nice to have, but I didn't expect it.
It is good we are completing the primetime specials/movies on DVD. These remaining ABC primetime movies are awesome. Now we have all of the 1977-1981 NBC specials on DVD and the '90s ABC movies! Nice! Now all the specials are nearly released! Only The Flintstones' 25th Anniversary Celebration, The Flintstone Kids' "Just Say No" Special, and Hanna-Barbera's 50th: A Yabba Dabba Doo Celebration remain, but those are not major ones. Heck, I want The Flintstone Kids or the series from the '70s more. Back to these sets, other than my minor nitpicks, these sets work and is on par with other releases from Warner Archive. It is simple and is just the movies, so not much was expected. For die-hard fans, you would be pleased, I think, and if you have all of the other sets released, this is for you. And for casual fans or first-time watchers, you'll like what you see on these movies. You'll have ti get both, though...so you get the full storyline. These movies have been rerun on TV a lot, so it is familiar. This is the perfect holiday gift for you or someone else. See the love of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm!

Finally, we gave you some details on TBS' Windows 8 app on Wednesday. Users can watch videos from a wide range of comedy shows on TBS, including the late-night hit Conan; primetime originals like Men at Work, Sullivan & Son and Cougar Town; and acquired favorites like The Big Bang Theory and Family Guy. Highlights of the new TBS app include the Main Hub where comedy fans can dive right in with full access to featured video clips, TBS shows and the full TBS schedule. Personalized content will allow users can easily scroll through and view the wide array of comedy to find that perfect nerdism from The Big Bang Theory or the snappiest comeback from Men at Work. Featured Videos will include user favorites, like a classic Family Guy musical number. The TBS app for Windows 8 is now available for free download from the Windows Store.

Tuesday (December 4) will have a few comedy releases. MPI Home Video has The Donna Reed Show - Season 5. Look for our review of that set soon. Sony has Bridget Loves Bernie - The Complete Series as a MOD set. HBO Studios is releasing Eastbound & Down - The Complete Third Season on Blu-ray and DVD. Paramount/CBS DVD gives us The Game - The Fifth Season. 20th Century Fox offers The Simpsons - The Fifteenth Season on Blu-ray and DVD. It's been delayed several times, but this could be the week for Cagney & Lacey: The Complete Series - 30th Anniversary. Finally, Paramount/CBS DVD wraps up the Mike Connors' detective series with Mannix - The Final Season.

DVD Review: The Flintstones - I Yabba-Dabba Do! & The Flintstones - Hollyrock-A-Bye Baby (Warner Archive, $14.95 each)

Two classic '90s Flintstones primetime TV movies are now available on DVD from Warner Archive Collection! Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm are finally getting married...or are they? Thanks to the feuding of Fred and Barney, the Flintstones and the Rubbles may never talk to each other again! Will these star crossed lovers ever tie the knot? Watch your favorite stone age family's movie, I Yabba-Dabba Do and find out!!! And in Hollyrock-A-Bye-Baby, the Rubbles and the Flintstones head out west to glamorous Hollyrock to visit Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm after discovering they are going to be grandparents.
We have been getting the primetime specials on DVD from Warner Archive. It started with the 1977 A Flintstone Christmas. Last year, Warner Archive Collection gave us that special and also the 1993 A Flintstone Family Christmas special. Then we got The Flintstones Meet Rockula and Frankenstone (1979) and Flintstones Little Big League (1978) in a primetime specials volume 1 DVD. Then the remaining four specials came out in volume 2: The Flintstones' New Neighbors (1980), Fred's Final Fling (1980), Wind-Up Wilma (1981) and Jogging Fever (1981). Now we have two separate releases showcasing Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm in I Yabba-Dabba Do! (1993) and Hollyrock-a-Bye Baby (1993). In I Yabba-Dabba Do! (91:33), Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm are finally getting married...or are they? Thanks to the feuding of Fred and Barney, the Flintstones and the Rubbles may never talk to each other again! Will these star crossed lovers ever tie the knot? In Hollyrock-A-Bye-Baby (91:32), The Rubbles and the Flintstones head out west to glamorous Hollyrock to visit Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm after discovering they are going to be grandparents. But Pebbles is busy with her advertising career, while Bamm-Bamm is trying desperately to sell his screenplay and neither is prepared to deal with an over-extended parental visit. As Wilma and Betty try to take charge of baby prep, Fred and Barney set out to peddle Bamm-Bamm's screenplay, against his express wishes. Hollyrock players (including one voiced by Raquel Welch!), crime bosses and bowling bags add to the confusion before the next generation arrives on the scene. Each movie has 9 chapter stops each.
The packaging for this set is pretty standard and similar to the other Warner Archive releases for The Flintstone specials. For I Yabba-Dabba Do!, on the cover we have Barney, Betty, Fred, Wilma and Dino looking at Bamm-Bamm and Pebbles, as Pebbles has an engagement ring on. On the back, there is a nice photo of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm at the altar with Dino looking on, along with info on the special and set. Inside the case, it is pretty bland again. There is no artwork on the panels again. There is one disc and it is on the right panel. The disc artwork has the same artwork as the cover art with the franchise logo imprinted on it. For Hollyrock-A-Bye-Baby, on the cover we have a nice family photo of the gang with Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm's new newborns! Even Fred's mother-in-law is there! On the back, there is a nice photo of star struck Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty, and Dino, along with info on the special and set. Inside the case, it is pretty bland again. There is no artwork on the panels again. There is one disc and it is on the right panel. The disc artwork has the same artwork as the cover art with the franchise logo imprinted on it. All similar to previous releases for primetime specials.
The main menus aren't very exciting for both, but it is perfectly functional. For I Yabba-Dabba Do!, the main menu has a nice wedding shot of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm inside a heart and a pink background. For Hollyrock-A-Bye-Baby, we have Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm by the crib of their baby with Dino watching and we have a nice blue background. No music is playing in the background for either set. The theme song would have been nice? We have a Play Movie option on both sets. There are no options for anything else, so it is simple. As mentioned, we have 9 chapter stops for both movies and they have the correct placements. All this is similar to the other primetime specials DVDs.
The video and audio quality of both sets look fine, for the most part. Both movies were from 1993, so they both look the same. There are white dots here and there, but it is still good. I give the quality an edge over the 1977-81 specials, so you can expect better audio and video here. There are no real major problems for both movies, so don't worry about it. As for the audio quality, it is clear and crisp. Unfortunately there are no subtitles or closed-captioning. The movies originally aired on ABC in 1993. Nothing much else to say, it is simple and it works.
There are no special features obviously on these sets since it is just two movies. Perhaps maybe some promos or other archival items for these two would have been nice to have, but I didn't expect it.
It is good we are completing the primetime specials/movies on DVD. These remaining ABC primetime movies are awesome. Now we have all of the 1977-1981 NBC specials on DVD and the '90s ABC movies! Nice! Now all the specials are nearly released! Only The Flintstones' 25th Anniversary Celebration, The Flintstone Kids' "Just Say No" Special, and Hanna-Barbera's 50th: A Yabba Dabba Doo Celebration remain, but those are not major ones. Heck, I want The Flintstone Kids or the series from the '70s more. Back to these sets, other than my minor nitpicks, these sets work and is on par with other releases from Warner Archive. It is simple and is just the movies, so not much was expected. For die-hard fans, you would be pleased, I think, and if you have all of the other sets released, this is for you. And for casual fans or first-time watchers, you'll like what you see on these movies. You'll have ti get both, though...so you get the full storyline. These movies have been rerun on TV a lot, so it is familiar. This is the perfect holiday gift for you or someone else. See the love of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm!
