• We're into renewal and cancellation season, and we've got two cancellations from CBS: So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas. (Variety)
• After last week's announcement that The Talk was cancelled, it is probably no surprise that CBS has officially ordered the new soap opera that was rumored to take its place, The Gates. (Variety)
• It seems that everybody is interested in Paramount, but nobody has quite closed in on the deal, and now Sony is in talks to be in a partnership to own the studio. (Reuters)
• A limited series about Al Sharpton, with Anthony Anderson playing the role of Sharpton, is in the works at ABC. (Deadline)
• It's old news by now, but here is a reminder that The Bachelor is just TV and not real life: The Golden Bachelor is about to be a bachelor again. (Hollywood Reporter)
• Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, with host Travis Kelce, has been ordered by Prime Video. (SitcomsOnline)

WEEKLY PLANNER (APRIL 20 - APRIL 27)

• Catchy Comedy is animated this weekend with a binge of Looney Tunes.
• The season finale of Not Dead Yet airs Wednesday on ABC.
• We keep forgetting to mention it (maybe because it's been very poorly received), but the animated Good Times reboot is now streaming on Netflix.

SitcomsOnline Digest: The Talk Coming to an End at CBS; CBS Renews The Neighborhood

 Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! It's renewal, cancellation, and "oh my how many more reboots are they planning" week around here! This week, we're hearing of the end of a CBS daytime series, a renewal, and learning about more and more potential reboots (which we don't even cover them all, believe it or not). Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB

• We suspected it was coming, as CBS is making unusual move and actually bringing a new soap opera onto their daytime lineup (though we're not sure yet that will be the replacement), but it was announced that The Talk will be coming to an end in December. (Variety)
• Meanwhile, over in primetime, CBS has renewed The Neighborhood. (Deadline)
• NBC hasn't really had many sitcoms in recent years, and right now, it seems that Night Court could be the only one that will be renewed, and even that hasn't officially happened yet. (Deadline)
• We don't suggest reading this if you haven't seen it, but the Curb Your Enthusiasm finale aired this week, and it had some people remembering the finale of Seinfeld. (Deadline)
• Since all of the old stuff has already had a reboot, it looks like CBS is going with more recent things to reboot now, with a reboot of Cold Case being considered. (TVLine)
• It seems that Heroes is also in line for a reboot, and it's worth noting that this would be the second reboot of a series that only ended in 2010. (Variety)
• S.W.A.T. has been renewed again, after being cancelled again, and with this being the eighth season on the way, it's worth noting that for this reboot, that's six seasons longer than the original series lasted. (SitcomsOnline)

• Catchy Comedy has a binge of Bosom Buddies this weekend.
• Antenna TV has a "Sunday Best" featuring Alice tomorrow.
• New episodes of The Upshaws arrives on Netflix on Thursday.

SitcomsOnline Digest: Netflix Pays $100 Million for Another Year of Friends; Reboots of Night Gallery and New York Undercover

• Netflix has paid $100 million to renew their streaming rights to Friends, and it's only a one year renewal, presumably because Warner is starting their own streaming service and will include the series on that service. (Digital Trends) 
• Another reboot is being considered at Syfy, and this time, it is Night Gallery. (Deadline)
• Why stop with Night Gallery? New York Undercover is being looked at as a reboot for ABC. (Deadline)
• Kevin Hart was announced as the host of the Oscars this week, but that was short-lived and now he will not be hosting the Oscars. (Hollywood Reporter)
• Meanwhile, the Golden Globes ceremony has gone with a safer choice for co-hosts, with Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg. (Variety)
• Carrie Ann Inaba will be replacing Julie Chen on The Talk. (People)
• COZI will begin airing The Office on January 1. (SitcomsOnline)

• The Orville - The Complete First Season (DVD, $29.98): The first season of the Fox series arrives on DVD in this release.

• CBS has Christmas classics Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman tonight.
