Son of a Critch Renewed for Final Season; The Four Seasons Trailer for Season 2

In its final season, Son of a Critch finds Mark in his last year of high school just as Newfoundland's cod moratorium crisis turns his world upside down. While the adults scramble and the future feels suddenly uncertain, Mark is more determined than ever to chase his dream of becoming an actor - whether anyone's ready for him to grow up or not. As friendships evolve, first love gets complicated, and the family faces changes they can't outrun, this season captures the messy, funny, and deeply human moment when everything ends and begins at the same time. After five seasons of growing up together, it's a heartfelt goodbye to Mark's childhood - and to the Critch family we won't soon forget.

Production on the fifth and final season is now underway in St. John's, Newfoundland, with filming set to continue until June 18. Season 5 will premiere Fall 2026 on CBC and the free CBC Gem streaming service. The series airs in the U.S. on The CW. Seasons 1-4 of Son of a Critch are available to stream now on CBC Gem.

Son of a Critch stars Mark Critch portraying his own father, Mike Sr., while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (The Legend of Zelda, Everything's Going to Be Great) plays young Mark. Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Entourage) is his grandfather, Pop; Claire Rankin (Stargate Atlantis) plays his mother Mary; Colton Gobbo (Ginny & Georgia) as his older brother Mike Jr.; Mark Ezekiel Rivera (Son of a Critch) is his best friend Ritche; and Sophia Powers (Murder in a Small Town) is Fox, Mark's girlfriend. Returning cast members include Richard Clarkin (Memory of a Killer) as Dick, Nicole Underhay (Hudson & Rex) as Fox's mom Suzanne, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll (Doc) as Father Garcia, and Nora McLellan (Strays) as Sister Rose. Guest stars this season include Shawn Doyle (Star Trek: Discovery) as Mr. Kevin Lewis, Mark's former theatre teacher, Susan Kent (The Snake) as Linda Lahey, and Rick Mercer (The Mercer Report) as station owner Mr. Bartlett.

Coming off a hard year, our group of friends carries on their tradition of vacationing together, now with a baby in tow. The Four Seasons S2 debuts May 28, only on Netflix with 8 episodes.

The Four Seasons picks back up with the core group - Kate (Tina Fey), Jack (Will Forte), Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver), Danny (Colman Domingo), Claude (Marco Calvani), and Ginny (Erika Henningsen) - as they journey from the familiar comforts of the Jersey shore and upstate New York to the stunning landscapes of Italy. With warmth and wit, personal blind spots surface for the group as they each grieve their late friend and embark on new adventures. Co-created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield, The Four Seasons remains a heartfelt and hilarious tribute to long-term relationships, while continuing to explore the highs, lows, and humor of enduring friendships and love.

The Conners Reruns to Air on The CW Thursdays; Jo Koy to Host Golden Globes

Reruns of The Conners will be airing on The CW in...primetime. Yes, the ABC sitcom, which is entering its sixth season this February on ABC Wednesdays, will air from the beginning on The CW in a rarity. The CW will air The Conners Thursdays at 8:30pm & 9:00pm beginning January 4, sandwiched between Canadian comedies Son of a Critch and Children Ruin Everything to form a 2-hour comedy block on Thursdays. The Conners is also eligible to enter broadcast syndication later in 2024. The CW has also recently acquired reruns of the Hallmark drama Ride.

After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of Life in Landford in a way they never have before. This iconic family grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. Starring John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Michael Fishman, Emma Kenney, Ames McNamara, Jayden Rey, Jay R. Ferguson, Maya Lynne Robinson, Johnny Galecki and Katey Sagal.

The Golden Globes announced that premier stand-up comedian and actor Jo Koy will kick off award season as host of the highly-anticipated 81st Annual Golden GlobeE(R) Awards, airing live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at 8 PM, ET/5 PM, PT (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs). Koy will host the show for the first time, bringing his unique charm, energy and unpredictable humor to the three-hour broadcast. Koy is widely recognized as a leading stand-up comedian, actor and author. His uniquely relatable comedy pulls inspiration from his colorful family and has reached audiences of all kinds and resulted in sold-out arenas around the world. His recent "Funny Is Funny World Tour" broke sales records at some of the most prestigious venues around the world. Previously, he released five highly rated stand-up specials on Comedy Central and Netflix, including his most recent Netflix special, Live from the Los Angeles Forum.

Koy starred in the Universal Picture film Easter Sunday, based on his own experiences and stand-up comedy. He has also appeared in Disney's Haunted Mansion and voiced the character Bendo in Netflix's animated film Monkey King. He'll next be voicing the character of the Monkey King in the animated feature film, Tiger's Apprentice premiering on Paramount+ Feb. 2, 2024.

Curb Your Enthusiasm's Final Season Premieres Feb. 4; The CW Midseason 2024 Schedule

The Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning HBO Original comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm, starring Larry David, returns for its twelfth and final ten-episode season Sunday, February 4 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on Max. New episodes will debut subsequent Sundays at the same time leading up to the series finale on April 7. Starring Larry David as an over-the-top version of himself, the iconic Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm offers a tongue-in-cheek depiction of the writer/producer/comedian's fictionalized life.

The CW Network announced midseason premiere dates for new series including the I Am documentary film collection and the true crime anthology series Crime Nation, as well as returning favorites such as Masters of Illusion, World's Funniest Animals hit comedies Son of a Critch and Children Ruin Everything. The I Am documentary film series kicks off with the world premiere of I Am Burt Reynolds on Saturday, December 30 (8:00-10:00pm ET/PT) following the 2023 Barstool Sports Arizona Ball game between the Toledo Rockets and Wyoming Cowboys (4:00-8:00pm ET). The I Am films continue with I Am Chris Farley on Saturday, January 6 (8:00-10:00pm ET/PT) and I Am Paul Walker on Saturday, January 13 (8:00-10:00pm ET/PT). Sunday night is movie night on The CW in 2024 beginning with the hit romantic comedy The Wedding Planner starring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey on Sunday, January 7 (7:00-9:30pm ET/PT).

The third season of the family comedy Children Ruin Everything from the producer of Schitt's Creek premieres on Thursday, January 11 (9:30-10:00pm ET/PT). A special presentation of I Am Martin Luther King Jr. honoring the life and legacy of the civil rights icon airs on Monday, January 15 (8:00-10:00pm ET/PT) in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The previously announced new original series Wild Cards starring Vanessa Morgan and Giacomo Gianniotti premieres on Wednesday, January 17 (8:00-9:00pm ET/PT) followed by the third season of returning favorite drama Family Law (9:00-10:00pm ET/PT) starring Jewel Staite and Victor Garber.

The CW's most-watched comedy of 2023 Son of a Critch returns for a third season on Thursday, January 25 (8:00-8:30pm ET/PT). The new true crime anthology series Crime Nation from former ABC News President James Goldston and featuring ripped-from-the-headlines cases premieres on Tuesday, February 20 (8:00-10:00pm ET/PT).

CBS Winter 2024 Schedule; The CW Pulls 2 Comedies

CBS announced its premiere dates and rollout plan for its 2024 primetime schedule, which will launch immediately following the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 11. The Network will air original episodes of new and returning series beginning on Sunday evening and throughout the following week. Additional programming to be announced in the next few weeks. Previously announced legal drama Matlock, starring Kathy Bates, and Poppa's House, a comedy starring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., are currently planned to air during the 2024-2025 broadcast season. Tracker starring and executive produced by Justin Hartley premieres Sunday, Feb. 11 in the highly coveted post-Super Bowl timeslot. Comedy block of The Neighborhood and Bob ♥ Abishola, NCIS and NCIS: Hawai'i premiere Monday, Feb. 12 beginning at 8:00 PM. All FBI Tuesday returns Feb. 13 at 8:00 PM. The Thursday comedy block premieres Thursday, Feb. 15 with Young Sheldon at 8:00 PM and Ghosts at 8:30 PM, So Help Me Todd at 9:00 PM and an encore episode of Tracker at 10:00 PM for two weeks. Friday dramas S.W.A.T., Fire Country and Blue Bloods returns Feb. 16 at 8:00 PM.

CSI: Vegas moves to Sundays at 10:00 PM beginning Feb. 18 Following the season four premiere of The Equalizer at 8:00 PM and Tracker in its regular time period at 9:00 PM. Survivor returns with two-hour episodes for the premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 8:00 PM and the second episode on Wednesday, March 6 at 8:00 PM followed by 90-minute episodes throughout the season. New drama Elsbeth premieres Thursday, Feb. 29 at 10:00 PM. The Amazing Race returns with 90-minute episodes beginning Wednesday, March 13 at 9:30 PM.

The CW has pulled two of its Thursday comedies. Run the Burbs and Everyone Else Burns have been pulled from the schedule. The comedy Children Ruin Everything, will now air from 8:30-9:00pm ET starting Thursday, November 16 following Son of a Critch, which remains at 8. Whose Line Is It Anyway? will air 9:00-9:30pm ET and The Great American Joke Off will air from 9:30-10:30pm ET.

Beginning Monday, October 23, FBoy Island will air in its regular timeslot of 8:00-9:00pm ET/PT. Comedies Son of a Critch, Run the Burbs, Children Ruin Everything and the series premiere of Everyone Else Burns will now air on Thursdays beginning October 19.

75th Primetime Emmy Nominations; The CW Fall 2023 Premiere Dates

Nominations for the 75th Emmy® Awards were announced today from the Hollywood Athletic Club, recognizing extraordinary programming, performances and a diverse range of exceptional storytelling across multiple platforms. The live virtual ceremony was hosted by Emmy Award-nominated actress Yvette Nicole Brown and Television Academy Chair Frank Scherma. This season, the Emmy Awards celebrates its 75th Anniversary and the nominations were streamed live from the place it all began in 1949, the famed Hollywood Athletic Club. That relatively modest Los Angeles-area ceremony which featured just five awards categories and $5 admission tickets has evolved into television's biggest night, celebrating excellence throughout the industry and viewed by television fans around the world. In the age of "peak TV" with close to 600 original scripted series, the nominations recognize the importance of the performers, producers, writers, directors, craftspeople, and all those who worked on television programs in the past year. There are more than 20,000 voting members of the Academy and this year's nominations marked the highest voter participation in Emmy history. Succession holds this year’s top spot with 27 Emmy nominations followed by The Last of Us (24), The White Lotus (23) and Ted Lasso (21).

There were 38 first-time performer nominees across all performer categories this season including Jessica Chastain (George & Tammy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown), Taron Egerton (Black Bird), Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & The Six), James Marsden (Jury Duty), Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, Saturday Night Live, and Patagonia: Life on the Edge of the World), Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), Daniel Radcliffe (Weird: The Al Yankovic Story), Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us), Alan Ruck (Succession), Jason Segel (Shrinking), Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) and Steven Yeun (BEEF). The CW Network announced premiere dates for its Fall 2023 primetime schedule. Get a look inside the "greatest year in cinema ever" in the totally tubular limited series Greatest Geek Year Ever: 1982 premiering on Saturday, July 8 (8:00-9:00pm ET/PT). NOTES: CBS announced its 2023-2024 primetime programming lineup of CBS Originals, featuring three new dramas, one new comedy, special event programming and 22 returning series. CBS Sports will also present Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, live on CBS and Paramount+ from the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev.

Matlock stars Emmy and Academy Award winner Kathy Bates as Madeline “Matty” Matlock, a brilliant septuagenarian who achieved success in her younger years and decides to rejoin the workforce at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases. Matty is assigned to Olympia (Skye P. Marshall), a senior attorney and key rainmaker with a thirst for justice. Olympia’s ex-husband, Julian (Jason Ritter), the son of the head of the firm, is intrigued by Matty and her clever skills. As Matty endeavors to establish herself in her new high-stakes world, she works alongside the firm’s younger associates – the charismatic Billy (David Del Rio) and the uber ambitious Sarah (Leah Lewis). Matlock is inspired by the classic television series of the same name.

The previously announced drama Tracker stars Justin Hartley as lone-wolf survivalist Colter Shaw, who roams the country as a “reward seeker,” using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve all manner of mysteries while contending with his own fractured family. Tracker is set to premiere in the highly coveted post-Super Bowl timeslot on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024.

Also premiering later in the season is the new comedy Poppa's House, starring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. Wayans stars as legendary talk radio host and happily divorced “Poppa” who has his point of view challenged at work when a new female co-host (Essence Atkins) is hired, and at home where he finds himself still parenting his adult son (Damon Wayans Jr.), a brilliant dreamer who is trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband.

CSI: Vegas returns for its third season to anchor the Sunday 10:00 PM slot later in the year.

The CW Network unveiled its robust slate of original scripted and unscripted programming debuting on the network in Summer 2023. The hilarious family comedy Run the Burbs from award-winning Kim's Convenience breakout star Andrew Phung and featuring a talented and diverse ensemble cast, will make its U.S. debut on The CW later this summer. Critically-acclaimed dramedy Moonshine, about dysfunctional siblings battling for control of their family business also joins the network's scripted slate. The fan-favorite legal drama Family Law starring Jewel Staite and Victor Garber returns for a second season, and comedy series Bump will deliver even more laughs in its second season. Airdates and times for all these series will be announced at a later date.

These upcoming summer series are in addition to the previously announced new comedy Son of a Critch and new dramas The Rising, premiering Monday, May 29 (8:00-9:00pm ET/PT), and Barons, also debuting Monday, May 29 (9:00-10:00pm ET/PT). And the fourth and final season of drama series Nancy Drew premieres on Wednesday, May 31 (8:00-9:00pm ET/PT) paired with the final season of Riverdale, with both series finales airing back-to-back on Wednesday, August 23.

The CW Acquires Son of a Critch; FX's The Bear Returns June 22

The CW Network has partnered with CBC and Lionsgate Television for the original comedy series Son of a Critch from acclaimed comedian, actor and writer Mark Critch. From Andrew Barnsley, the Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning executive producer of Schitt's Creek, and Tim McAuliffe, writer of The Office and Last Man on Earth, and starring Golden Globe® nominee Malcolm McDowell, the 13-episode first season of Son of a Critch will debut on The CW in Summer 2023.

Based on the award-winning, bestselling memoir from Mark Critch (This Hour Has 22 Minutes), Son of a Critch is the hilarious and very real story of a young Mark coming of age in the 1980s. The series is a heartfelt window in the life of a child—who is much older inside than his 11 years—using comedy and self-deprecation to win friends and connect with the small collection of people in his limited world. The comedy stars Mark Critch as his father, Mike, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Pinocchio) as young Mark. Claire Rankin (Molly's Game) stars as Mark's mother, Mary, alongside newcomers Sophia Powers and Mark Rivera, who play classmates of young Mark. Colton Gobbo (Ginny & Georgia) plays Mark's older brother, Mike Jr., and Golden Globe® and SAG nominee Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Bombshell) also stars as Patrick "Pop" Critch.

Son of a Critch's premiere season in Canada ranked as the #1 scripted program on CBC in key audience demos. Since its premiere, it has ranked as one of the top 5 most-watched Canadian comedies overall, and Season 2 was the most-watched English-language Canadian comedy series and CBC's most-watched program with 18-49 and 25-54 audiences. The series has received four prestigious Canadian Screen Award nominations and two Directors Guild of Canada nominations. Son of a Critch was recently renewed for a third season and will be produced in association with The CW.

FX's The Bear, the critically acclaimed, award-winning hit series is set to premiere its hotly-anticipated second season Thursday, June 22 exclusively on Hulu. All 10 episodes will be available at premiere. Season 2 of The Bear will be available on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ in all other territories at a later date. FX also released the season 2 key art. Season two follows Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) and Richard "Richie" Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they work to transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot. As they strip the restaurant down to its bones, the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future.

Of course, it turns out the only thing harder than running a restaurant is opening a new one, and the team must juggle the insane bureaucracy of permits and contractors with the beauty and creative agony of menu planning. The transition brings a newfound focus on hospitality as well. As the entire staff is forced to come together in new ways, pushing the boundaries of their abilities and relationships, they also learn what it means to be in service, both to diners and each other. In addition to White, Edebiri and Moss-Bachrach, the half-hour series also stars Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas and Matty Matheson, with Edwin Lee Gibson, Oliver Platt and newcomer Molly Gordon in recurring roles.
