HBO Max Comedy Search Party Brings Out the Guest Stars; CW Seed Reunites CW 90210 Series

Search Party - Busy Philipps

Beloved comedy thriller Search Party returns to HBO Max for its fourth season in January 2021. In the new season, "Dory" (Alia Shawkat) is held prisoner by her psychotic stalker "Chip" (Cole Escola), who is determined to make Dory believe that they are best friends. Meanwhile, "Portia" (Meredith Hagner) is starring in a film about the trial, although not as herself; "Elliott" (John Early) has switched party lines to become a far-right conservative talk show host; and "Drew" (John Reynolds) is trying to escape his dark past by working as a costumed cast member in a theme park. As the friends begin to connect the dots that Dory might not be touring Europe as her faked social media posts suggest, they must decide whether or not to put their traumatic pasts behind them and once again become a search party – but this time, for Dory. Joining the show's stellar guest stars this season are Susan Sarandon, Busy Philipps, Ann Dowd, Griffin Dunne and Lillias White, as well as R.L. Stine in a cameo role. Susan Sarandon plays "Lylah," the unapologetically wealthy aunt to Chip, Dory's kidnapper. Busy Philipps plays "Donna DiMarco," a former teen star who is cast as Portia in a film portraying the murder of "Keith Powell" (Ron Livingston). Emmy winner and Golden Globe nominee Ann Dowd plays "Paula Jo," a nosy Christmas-obsessed townie who gets a little too close to Chip's house for his own comfort. Actor, director and producer Griffin Dunne plays "Richard Wreck," the CEO of a pastry company called Lil' Sticky's, which might offer a vital clue to finding Dory's whereabouts. Tony® winner Lillias White plays "Wilma," a world-famous talk show host who has an obsession with "Chantal" (Clare McNulty).

Howie Mandel

For the second year, in a strategic partnership with Just For Laughs, The CW Network announced the brand new primetime comedy special, The Howie Mandel All-Star Comedy Gala. Featuring stand-up performances from today's comedic heavyweights such as Jay Pharoah, Iliza Shlesinger, Russell Peters and JB Smoove, this special will premiere Monday, January 16, 8:00-10:00 pm ET/PT on The CW. Recorded at the biggest comedy event in the world, the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, and hosted by Howie Mandel, this primetime special also showcases performances from Alonzo Bodden, Jo Koy, Matt Donaher, Ryan Hamilton, Gina Brillon and Tom Papa. Additionally, as Just For Laughs prepares to celebrate its 35th anniversary this year, the special includes comedians paying tribute to some of their favorite comedians from the festival over the past 34 years, such as Amy Schumer, Jim Gaffigan and Wanda Sykes.

Also back with new episodes on CW Seed, The CW's digital network, The Elevator Talk Show with new host Nick Thune is all the late-night talk show you can cram into an eight-foot box. Hosted by comedian Nick Thune, guests on this season of The Elevator Talk Show include John Mulaney, Hannibal Buress, Lauren Lapkus, Scott Aukerman, Tone Bell, Noel Wells, and Blake Griffin, all recorded at the Just for Laughs Festival and all inside one very crowded elevator. The new episodes will debut on CW Seed later this month.

getTV's The Most Wonderful Month of the Year; CW Seed Gets V, 666 Park Avenue

getTV

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas on getTV, as the network celebrates the season with its second annual "The Most Wonderful Month of the Year" event. The channel turns over its daily schedule during primetime all month long in order to focus on a mixture of rare and classic Christmas-themed variety specials, TV series episodes, and films, starring some of entertainment's biggest names, from Sunday, November 27 through Sunday, December 25, culminating in a week-long 24-hour-a-day yuletide mega-marathon kicking off at 12 noon on Sunday, December 18 and running through Christmas day. The event launches at the tail end of the Thanksgiving weekend at 7:50 p.m. ET on Sunday, November 27 with getTV's network premiere of 1998's The Christmas Wish starring Neil Patrick Harris as a young man who sets out to grant his grandmother's (Debbie Reynolds) wish in The Christmas Wish, which also features an early appearance by Naomi Watts.

Other highlights of note to us include, Tuesday evenings will highlight back-to-back holiday episodes of getTV's latest acquisitions, The Jeff Foxworthy Show, co-starring Haley Joel Osment, and The Bill Engvall Show, co-starring Jennifer Lawrence, followed each week by a classic Christmas film. And Wednesdays, as part of the channel's "Get Lost in TV" block, will feature Christmas-specific episodes of rare and classic television series, including a unique evening of 'action/crime' Christmas episodes from The Equalizer, Hardcastle and McCormick, Riptide and more (Nov. 30), an evening of yuletide Westerns featuring The Restless Gun, Cimarron City, The Tall Man and more (Dec. 7) and a night featuring back-to-back holiday hours of In the Heat of the Night (Dec. 14).

V and 666 Park Avenue - CW Seed

CW Seed has added two series to its streaming line-up. Two former ABC series: 666 Park Avenue and V. Both series are available now on CW Seed, with all 13 episodes of 666 Park Avenue. The drama starred Rachael Taylor, Dave Annable, Vanessa Williams, and Terry O'Quinn and followed a couple who learned that the Manhattan apartment building that they just moved into, including its upscale tenants, might have been possessed by a mysterious demonic force. The series aired in 2012-13 on ABC. CW Seed has the first season of ABC's V revival available right now, which is the full 12 episode first season. The revival chronicled the arrival on Earth of a technologically-advanced alien species which ostensibly came in peace, but actually had sinister motives. The series starred Elizabeth Mitchell and Morena Baccarin, with other stars like Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Charles Mesure and Scott Wolf.

Girlfriends, Everybody Hates Chris, and The Game Coming to CW Seed; Sitcom Stars on Talk Shows (Week of August 15, 2016)

Girlfriends, Everybody Hates Chris and The Game on CW Seed

The CW is turning 10 years old this fall and they will celebrate with three past sitcoms on their digital site CW Seed. Joining CW Seed later this year are three sitcoms: Girlfriends, Everybody Hates Chris and The Game. All three series aired on The CW in 2006 when the network launched (when UPN and The WB merged). Girlfriends aired on UPN for most of its run, from 2000–06, but it aired on The CW for its last 2 seasons from 2006–08. Everybody Hates Chris aired on UPN in the 2005–2006 season and then aired on The CW for the rest of its run from 2006–2009. And The Game premiered in 2006 when The CW formed and aired from 2006-09 before getting canceled, but then BET resurrected the series from 2011-2015. Enjoy all three sitcoms on CW Seed coming very soon!
