Classic TV Comes to Life: Television Treasures from the Dr. Stewart Berkowitz Collection from Wednesday, April 16, 2025 – Sunday, May 25, 2025 at The Paley Museum, 25 West 52 Street, NYC. Long before the internet, smartphones, and personal computers, nothing captured our collective imagination and wonder like classic television series. Beloved shows like I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, and Happy Days were touchstones for several generations of Americans. From Lucy Ricardo to Ralph Kramden to Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli, these characters helped shape our childhoods—and our lives. Now The Paley Museum invites you to experience your favorite classic TV shows with life-size figures in authentic costumes. PLUS the set from The Tonight Starring Johnny Carson.
This exclusive exhibit features rare treasures from the collection of the late Dr. Stewart Berkowitz, who turned his love for the TV shows from his youth into a passion for collecting. Dr. Berkowitz spent decades combing the country and lovingly assembling the costumes, props, and artifacts from his most-adored programs, including The Honeymooners (his favorite show of all time), The Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, The Love Boat, The Flying Nun, and Happy Days. As Dr. Berkowitz collected these rare and essential costumes of TV history, he helped bring them to life by commissioning stunning life-like mannequins from designer Greg Maraio.
