Netflix Announces Good Times Animated Comedy; More Details on Fresh Prince Reunion on HBO Max

Good Times

Nostalgia alert! Norman Lear's 70s classic sitcom Good Times will return as an animated series! Carl Jones joins as showrunner for Lear's first-ever animated series, in partnership with the likes of Steph Curry and Seth MacFarlane. Let the good times roll 🔥 Good Times, the sitcom, originally aired on CBS from 1974-1979. Last holiday season, ABC aired Live in Front of a Studio Audience: All in the Family and Good Times, when they recreated the classic episode "The Politicians." A feud erupts in the Evans' household when James and J.J. take the side of Alderman Fred Davis during his attempt at re-election while Florida, Thelma and Willona take the side of his young opponent. It seems Davis is a shyster who gets nothing done in the neighborhood, which is why she cannot believe James would back such a loser. Andre Braugher as James Evans Sr., Viola Davis as Florida Evans, Tiffany Haddish as Willona Woods, Jay Pharoah as James "J.J." Evans Jr., Corinne Foxx as Thelma Evans, Asante Blackk as Michael Evans, John Amos as Fred Davis, Jharrel Jerome as Jimmy Pierson, and Anthony Anderson & Patti LaBelle sang the classic theme song. More details on the Netflix animated comedy is to come!

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Will Smith released two first-look photos at the upcoming The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion special from Westbrook Media, that taped Sept. 10 on the 30th anniversary of the iconic series. Smith was joined by series regulars Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Alfonso Ribeiro as well as recurring co-star DJ Jazzy Jeff for a family reunion on set in the Banks' home in this this one-time special.

Will Smith and Janet Hubert

Surprising the rest of the cast, Smith revealed that he sat down with Janet Hubert on Wednesday, Sept. 9, who originated the role of Aunt Viv, for the first time in 27 years for an emotional reunion and a candid conversation. As previously announced, the special will be a funny and heartfelt night full of music, dancing, and more special surprise guests, in honor of the series that ran for six seasons and 148 episodes. Produced by Westbrook Media, the reunion will launch exclusively on HBO Max around Thanksgiving. HBO Max is the exclusive SVOD home of the full original series library in the US, debuting on the platform when it launched in May.
