NBC Renews Superstore for Season 6; UK Comedy Receives 2nd Season Before US Premiere

NBC's critically acclaimed comedy Superstore has been renewed for a 6th season. In its fifth season, Superstore is averaging a 1.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall in "live plus seven day" Nielsens. The season premiere has surged to a 3.4 in 18-49 and 7.5 million viewers when viewing on all platforms is counted, four times the episode's next-day "live plus same day" 0.8 rating in 18-49. Superstore continues to rank as one of NBC's strongest digital performers, generating 50% of its "live plus 35 day" 18-49 average this season from digital sources, tying The Good Place as NBC's most digital series so far this season. In addition to having won several awards, the show has long been a critical favorite. Superstore stars America Ferrera, Ben Feldman, Mark McKinney, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nico Santos, Nichole Bloom and Kaliko Kauahi. The comedy was created by Justin Spitzer, who serves as an executive producer with America Ferrera, director Ruben Fleischer and David Bernad. IFC and UK's Channel 4 are returning to Victorian London for a second outing of Year of the Rabbit. The six-episode second season, written by Emmy(R) and WGA Award winners Andy Riley and Kevin Cecil (Veep, Black Books) and co-written by and starring Matt Berry (Toast of London, What We Do In The Shadows), will once again focus on tough booze-hound Detective Inspector Rabbit (Berry), his hapless partner Strauss (Freddie Fox) and the country's first female police officer Mabel (Susan Wokoma) as they fight crime in London's east end. The renewal news comes just days before Year of the Rabbit premieres Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 10:30pm ET/PT on IFC.
