TCA Winter 2020 Press Tour: Fox; 13 Series Renewed for 2020-21 on The CW

Fox

Fox kicked off the TCA Winter 2020 Press Tour yesterday. Among the news items include a spinoff of a mega hit reality show. Fox is partnering with Emmy Award-winning talk show host Ellen DeGeneres to produce The Masked Dancer, a new celebrity competition show based on the smash hit Fox series The Masked Singer and inspired by a popular segment featured on The Ellen Show. In this all-new format, celebrity contestants will perform unique dances, while covered from head-to-toe in elaborate costumes and face masks, leaving audiences to guess their identities. A nod to The Masked Singer, the guessing game was introduced on The Ellen Show, with celebrities such as Howie Mandel, Sean Hayes, Derek Hough and The Masked Singer's own panelist, Ken Jeong.

In addition, Fox Entertainment has ordered a stop-motion holiday special from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, the Emmy Award-winning company founded by Seth Green, John Harvatine IV, Matthew Senreich and Eric Towner. The all-new, irreverent special, written by Emmy Award winner Tom Root (Robot Chicken), will premiere next winter on Fox, as part of its "Not So Silent Nights" holiday-themed programming. As told through the twisted filter of Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, the visceral, action-packed hour of holiday insanity will feature classic holiday icons, including Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, who come together with brand-new minor mascots from Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving and even Daylight Savings Day.

Coming up on day 2: ABC. Stay tuned for updates tomorrow.
