SitcomsOnline Digest: Saved by the Bell Reboot Gets More of Original Cast; ABC Expanding Game Show Empire

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! It's been a really busy week of news this week as the TCA Winter Tour is in full force, and we are here with news of some new reboots, game show successes for ABC, and more. Let's get going!

  • Things are coming together to reunite the entire Saved by the Bell cast for the upcoming reboot, at least for an episode or two. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • Jeopardy!: The Greatest of All Time has been a major success for ABC, so naturally, the network is trying to find a way to keep that momentum going beyond the end of the run next week. (Deadline) 
  • Meanwhile, in other game show news for ABC, Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting a limited revival of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and Leslie Jones will be hosting a revival of Supermarket Sweep. (Good Morning America/ABC)
  • Seth MacFarlane, who has spent over two decades with Fox developing series including Family Guy, American Dad, and The Orville, is now leaving that studio to bring his new developments to NBCUniversal. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • The 2018 movie Night School is being adapted as a sitcom pilot for NBC. (Hollywood Reporter)  
  • The show thirtysomething is on the verge of being rebooted, with the original cast intact as well. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • If you ever think that there is nothing to watch on TV, you should know this: there were 532 new scripted series airing on television in 2019. (NY Times)
  • A live episode of The Conners will air on ABC next month. (SitcomsOnline)

Ghosts - "The Investor" (CBS, 8:30PM ET/PT)
When a promising opportunity to save Woodstone is threatened by a personal conflict, Sam and Jay are forced into a difficult choice. Meanwhile, election day arrives as Flower and Isaac go head‑to‑head to become Ghost Representative. Justin Kirk gest sars as Tad, the Mayor.

Animal Control - "Golden Moose and Wiener Dogs" (Fox, 9:02PM ET/PT)
The team arrives at the Animal Control Officer of the Year awards and party ahead of the ceremony; it's Frank vs. Templeton for the big prize; Shred and Emily's secret romance is finally exposed.

Going Dutch - "NATOcean's Eleven" (Fox, 9:32PM ET/PT)
Gen. Martin launches a takeover of the base and plans to fire its entire staff; Maj. Shah grapples with a midlife crisis.
