CBS Picks Up 3 Freshman Series for 2019-20; Coop & Cami Ask the World Gets 2nd Season on Disney

CBS announced that it has renewed three freshman series for the 2019-2020 broadcast season. Two dramas and a comedy. Dramas FBI and Magnum P.I., and comedy The Neighborhood will all return to the Network next year for a second season. FBI, from Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf, is a top 10 series and CBS' #1 new show, averaging almost 13 million viewers each week. The fast-paced drama stars Missy Peregrym, Zeeko Zaki, Jeremy Sisto, Ebonee Noel and Sela Ward. In addition to Wolf, Rick Eid, Terry Miller, Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski also serve as executive producers. Magnum P.I. has improved its Monday, 9:00 PM time period by +32%. The action-adventure series set in Hawaii stars Jay Hernandez as former Navy SEAL Thomas Magnum, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang and Amy Hill. Peter M. Lenkov, Eric Guggenheim, Justin Lin, John Davis, John Fox and Danielle Woodrow are executive producers.
Comedy The Neighborhood has improved its year-to-year time period viewership, drawing an average of almost 8 million viewers on Mondays, while using socially conscious humor to explore differences between cultures and life experiences. Cedric the Entertainer and Tichina Arnold star as neighborhood stalwarts the Butlers, while Max Greenfield and Beth Behrs are the "new kids on the block," the Johnsons. The show also stars Sheaun McKinney, Marcel Spears and Hank Greenspan. Jim Reynolds, Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor, Wendi Trilling, Cedric the Entertainer and Eric Rhone are executive producers.
Disney Channel announced the season two pickup of its live-action comedy series Coop & Cami Ask the World, about the antics of middle-school siblings Coop and Cami Wrather, co-hosts of a popular online show Would You Wrather. Created and executive produced by Boyce Bugliari and Jamie McLaughlin, the series will resume production in the coming months, with season two scheduled to roll out later in 2019. Leading the ensemble cast are Dakota Lotus and Ruby Rose Turner as Coop and Cami Wrather, Olivia Sanabia as older sibling Charlotte, Albert Tsai as best friend Fred, Paxton Booth as younger brother Ollie and Rebecca Metz as their mother Jenna. New episodes from season one, which launched last October, will continue to air on Saturdays (10:30-11:00 A.M. EST) on Disney Channel and in the DisneyNOW app. Ruby Rose Turner will be joined by her castmates and her real-life family on Instagram in Disney Channel's first-ever IGTV series Ruby's Gems, every Saturday, beginning Saturday, Feb. 23-March 9. Designed for kids age 13 and over, the series blends a vlog and behind-the-scenes format. The series is produced by Thumb Candy Media, the digital studio division of Industrial Media's B-17 Entertainment.
