SitcomOnline Digest: Discussions Underway for New Seasons of The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family; Trial & Error Looking for Home for Third Season
- The upcoming season of The Big Bang Theory has been widely speculated to be the final season of the series, but like any popular series reaching the end at the top, it sounds like that may not be the case after all. (Variety)
- The same can be said for Modern Family, as it too has been expected to end after the 2018-2019 season, but perhaps it won't either. (Deadline)
- NBC had a deadline to renew Trial & Error for a third season and did not renew it before the deadline, but the show may not be dead yet as the producers are trying to find a home for it for the third season. (Deadline)
- Must See TV is back on NBC Thursday nights in the fall (sort of) as David Schwimmer of Friends will be appearing in a story arc on Will & Grace. (Deadline)
- The battle for buying the Brady Bunch house has been settled, and HGTV has bought it, with plans to use it as part of some sort of series that will air on the network. (LA Times)
- A major media merger between Sinclair and Tribune was thought to be a foregone conclusion that would have allowed Sinclair to become a powerful media source that could influence public opinion, but this week, that merger is officially dead and Tribune is suing Sinclair for a $1 billion. (Washington Post)
- Just last week, we were talking about a reboot of Facts of Life, and this week, Charlotte Rae has died. (New York Times)
- Just in time for college football season, Antenna TV is planning a Coach marathon on September 1. (SitcomsOnline)

- A.P. Bio - Season One (DVD, $24.98): It doesn't appear to be available to order right now (but keep checking), but the first season of the NBC sitcom arrives on DVD in this release.
WEEKLY PLANNER (AUGUST 11 - AUGUST 17)
- If you like Jeopardy!, you can now catch it on Hulu, or at least 60 episodes of it from special event weeks from recent season.
- 21 Jump Street will be airing all weekend on Decades.
