Archer Coming to Comedy Central in March 2015; IFC Orders Sixth & Seventh Seasons of Portlandia
Archer is heading to syndication! Comedy Central has a critical mission for fans of hilarious animated espionage: Tune in for Archer on Comedy Central this March! The half-hour spy series makes its Comedy Central premiere with back-to-back episodes on March 2 at 10 and 10:30pm ET/PT, and continues with hour-long blocks Mondays at 10pm and Fridays at 11pm. Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy set at the International Secret Intelligence Service, a spy agency where espionage and global crises are merely opportunities for its highly trained employees to confuse, undermine, betray and royally screw each other.
The series features the voices of H. Jon Benjamin as suave master spy Sterling Archer, Jessica Walter as his domineering mother and boss, Malory Archer; Aisha Tyler as his ex-girlfriend and current co-worker, Agent Lana Kane; George Coe as his aging-but-loyal butler, Woodhouse; Chris Parnell as agency comptroller, Cyril Figgis; Judy Greer as Malory's lovesick secretary, Cheryl; and Amber Nash as Pam, the agency's director of human resources. The series is currently in its 6th season (with a 7th season already ordered!) and airs in originals on FX every Thursday night.
Portlandia is going to be back for not one, but two more seasons...at least! Currently in its fifth season, IFC has renewed Portlandia for seasons six and seven, ordering ten half-hour episodes for each. Creators and stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, along with co-creator and director Jonathan Krisel, will remain at the helm of both seasons. Portlandia is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and produced by Broadway Video. Over the past five seasons, Portlandia has expanded our knowledge of the peculiar characters of America's damp northwest. As we've come to know and love them - Malcolm and Kris with their helicopter parenting, Toni and Candace with their overzealous dedication to a cause, Bryce and Lisa with their taxidermy and pickling, or Doug and Claire's binge-watching - their idiosyncrasies have evolved from niche to normal.
Portlandia has seen some of the biggest names in movies, music and television pass through its city. In addition to recurring appearances by Vanessa Bayer, Ed Begley Jr., Steve Buscemi, Jeff Goldblum, Kyle MacLachlan, Kumail Nanjiani, Jason Sudeikis, Gus Van Sant and Olivia Wilde, guest stars over the past five seasons have included Roseanne Barr, Vanessa Bayer, Selma Blair, Rose Byrne, Kirsten Dunst, Shepard Fairey, Greta Gerwig, Heather Graham, Matt Groening, Oscar the Grouch, Anna Gunn, Bill Hader, k.d. lang, Juliette Lewis, Justin Long, Jane Lynch, Natasha Lyonne, Aimee Mann, Penny Marshall, Sarah McLachlan, Seth Meyers, Bobby Moynihan, Martina Navratilova, Patton Oswalt, Aubrey Plaza, Parker Posey, Paul Reubens, Tim Robbins, Maya Rudolph, Andy Samberg, Paul Simon, Amber Tamblyn, Eddie Vedder, Kristen Wiig and many more. Shot entirely in Portland, Portlandia is created by Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein and Jonathan Krisel. They also serve as writers, along with Karey Dornetto and Graham Wagner. Season 5 of Portlandia airs Thursdays at 10pm ET/PT on IFC. Seasons 1-4 are available now on Netflix.
