74th Primetime Emmy Awards Winners; HBO Max Renews Rap Sh!t for Season 2
The Television Academy tonight celebrated the 74th Emmy® Awards last night, recognizing excellence in television programming and individual achievement for the 2021-2022 television season. The 74th Emmy Awards was broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles on the NBC Television Network, hosted by Kenan Thompson and produced by Done+Dusted and Hudlin Entertainment. The telecast featured awards in 25 Emmy categories, plus the Governors Award, presented by top talent from some of television's most acclaimed programs. Presenters and surprise guests included Amy Poehler, Angela Bassett, Anthony Anderson, Ariana DeBose, Ayo Edebiri, B.J. Among the big winners were The White Lotus with 10 wins, Euphoria and Squid Game with 6 wins each, Stranger Things with 5 wins, and Succession and Ted Lasso with 4 wins each. Ted Lasso won Outstanding Comedy Series and Jason Sudeikis won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for the second year in a row. Abbott Elementary, Barry and Hacks had 3 wins each. HBO Max has renewed the comedy series Rap Sh!t, from Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominee Issa Rae, for a second season. The eight-episode first season debuted in July and is currently available to stream on HBO Max. Starring Aida Osman, KaMillion, Jonica Booth, Devon Terrell and RJ Cyler, Rap Sh!t follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna (Osman) and Mia (KaMillion), who reunite to form a rap group.

MeTV Celebrates M*A*S*H 50th Anniversary with The Best by Farr; The Simpsons Season 33 Coming to Disney+
On September 17, 1972, a brand-new TV series hit the airwaves at CBS. Based on the multi-Academy Award nominated 1970 movie, which was itself based on a 1968 novel, people weren't sure what to expect from M*A*S*H. After all, movies being adapted to TV shows don't always keep the spirit when they move on to the small screen. What followed was a cultural phenominon that made careers, still holds the record for most-watched finale of any TV series and continues to be rewatched and loved half a century later. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of M*A*S*H, MeTV will be showing episodes hand-picked by Maxwell Klinger himself, Jamie Farr! Jamie's favorite episodes will be shown all week as The Best by Farr. Then the celebration continues during the Sunday Block Party showcasing more of the best episodes of M*A*S*H starting Sunday at 12P | 11C. Look for special M*A*S*H trivia on MeTV all week long! The party starts TONIGHT - Monday, September 12 at 7P | 6C.
Season 33 of the hit animated series The Simpsons will stream October 5 on Disney+. In celebration of Disney+ Day, "Welcome to the Club," a new short from The Simpsons, was released on the streaming service. In the latest short, it's Disney+ Day and Lisa Simpson has her heart set on the ultimate princess transformation. After meeting some of Disney's most notorious villains, Lisa is surprised to learn being bad just might be more fun. "Welcome to the Club" is the latest in a collection of shorts from The Simpsons created exclusively for Disney+ that highlight the service's marquee brands and most popular content. "When Billie Met Lisa" was nominated for Outstanding Short Form Animated Program at this year's Emmy(R) Awards. The previously released shorts "Maggie Simpson in 'The Force Awakens from Its Nap,'" "The Good, The Bart, and The Loki" and "The Simpsons in Plusaversary" are currently available on Disney+. It's feeling more like fall and the full-throated kickoff for the fall television season is almost here, but we're not there just yet (though a season premiere of one cable series is lingering out there this week). - Sure, he is 100 years old, but still, Norman Lear has a new sitcom coming to Freevee starring Laverne Cox and George Wallace. (TVLine)
- It's not clear how this would even pan out, but as Fox is in negotiations for keeping their animated hits on the air (something that is far less certain now that they are Disney properties and not owned by Fox), the network is looking into adult animated dramas. (Deadline)

Dancing with the Stars Season 31 Cast; Great Scott! Back to the Future Reunion at New York Comic Con This Fall
Disney+ announced the Dancing with the Stars season 31 celebrity cast and their professional dancing partners, while live in studio on ABC's Good Morning America. The series, hosted by supermodel and businesswoman Tyra Banks and new co-host, actor and television personality Alfonso Ribeiro, returns to the ballroom with a lineup of celebrities including a platinum recording artist, a Real Housewife, a Bachelorette and a drag queen superstar, to name a few. The cast joins Charli and Heidi D'Amelio for season 31, both of whom were previously announced live on Good Morning America. The new celebrity cast will learn some new twists, tricks and kicks as the live show begins Monday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. EDT / 5 p.m. PDT, only on Disney+. Fan-favorite pro dancing partners Mark Ballas and Louis van Amstel make a long-awaited return to the ballroom.

COZI TV Acquires Monk, Bones and Las Vegas; HBO Max Renews Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin
Starting Monday, October 3, COZI TV will be expanding their series catalog by adding new shows Bones, Las Vegas, and Monk to their weekly schedules. The new additions of Monk and Bones will air Monday through Friday between 2 PM and 8 PM ET and Las Vegas, a COZI TV exclusive series, will be airing seven days a week from 12 AM to 3 AM ET each morning (check local listings). To kick-off COZI TV's new programming, viewers can tune-in to a special marathon of Monk on Saturday, October 1 from 8 AM to 8 PM ET and on Saturday, October 8 for a marathon of Bones airing from 8AM to 8 PM ET. Both marathons will feature the first twelve episodes from their first seasons (check local listings).
Bones made its television series debut in 2005 on Fox and ran for more than a decade, ending after 12 seasons in 2017. The crime comedy-drama stars David Boreanaz, as FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, and Emily Deschanel, as forensic anthropologist Temperance "Bones" Brennan. Las Vegas, originally debuting on NBC in 2003, ran for five seasons. The Montecito Casino and Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip is the backdrop of the hectic and fast lives of main characters Danny McCoy, played by Josh Duhamel, and his boss Ed Deline, played by James Caan. The show's cast features a variety of stars throughout its five seasons including Nikki Cox, James Lesure, Vanessa Marcil, Molly Sims, Marsha Thomason, and, later, Tom Selleck. Monk originally debuted in 2002 for eight seasons on USA Network. The series stars Tony Shalhoub as the lead character, Adrian Monk, a former San Francisco detective who now works as a private consultant for law enforcement while coping with his obsessive-compulsive disorder.
HBO Max has renewed the original drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin for a second season. Rewind TV Fall 2022 Schedule; Back to School Abbott Elementary Marathon
As we hinted a few weeks ago, it's time for another Abbott Elementary marathon, airing tonight on ABC! Ahead of this month's season two premiere, ABC is celebrating the end-of-summer and return-to-school rush with another binge-worthy Abbott Elementary marathon, featuring more fan-favorite episodes of the seven-time Emmy(R)-nominated comedy. The marathon is set to air back-to-back episodes tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT) on ABC.
Featured episodes include the following:
"Step Class" (8:00-8:30 p.m. EDT) - Janine is thrilled when Ava asks to help her teach the after-school step class, but the two don't see eye to eye on how to run the program. Later, when Barbara, Melissa and Jacob plan an "eat-off" to decide who makes the best pizza in Philadelphia, Gregory is forced to reveal a secret.
"Open House" (8:30-9:00 p.m. EDT) - It's Open House night at Abbott Elementary, and while Janine prepares to meet her struggling student's mother, the rest of the faculty uses the time to relax. Gregory is taken aback when he learns how Ava got the principal job, and later, Barbara's daughter's visit creates a commotion in more ways than one.
"Desking" (9:00-9:31 p.m. EDT) - When the students start participating in a new online trend that causes disruption to the school, the teachers band together to put an end to it. Meanwhile, Mr. Johnson provides comforting life advice to Gregory; and later, the teachers finally meet Jacob's boyfriend, Zach, who joins in to help stop the students "desking."
"Ava vs. Superintendent" (9:31-10:00 p.m. EDT) - With the school board threatening to pull their funds, Janine and Gregory decide to help Ava out with her presentation in front of the superintendent. However, their plan is derailed when a curveball is thrown at Ava. Meanwhile, Barbara offends Melissa when she doesn't agree with her blackmail idea.
Abbott Elementary returns for season two in two weeks on Wednesday, Sept. 21 (9:00-9:31 p.m. EDT), on ABC. And streaming next day on Hulu!

Antenna TV Fall 2022 Schedule; BUZZR Celebrates 50 Years of The Price Is Right
The rest of the changes are on weekends, with Saturdays 5am-4pm now exactly the same as the Mon-Fri line-up with classic '50s and '60s sitcoms. The Saturday night block of '50s and '60s sitcoms now will be replaced by '70s sitcoms. Welcome Back, Kotter stack will air 6-8pm, followed by an hour each of Alice, One Day at a Time, Archie Bunker's Place and Maude. After a stack of Benny Hill from 12-2am, more '70s sitcoms will air on Saturday nights with Barney Miller from 2-3am and Soap from 3-5am. On Sundays, the '50s and '60s sitcoms will remain from 5am-2pm, along with One Day at a Time and Benson from 2-4pm. An additional hour of Benson will air 4-5pm, creating a stack from 3-5pm. Beginning at 5pm, Antenna TV will air stacks of sitcoms from 5pm-5am, with two-hour blocks of Soap, Designing Women, Family Ties, Wings, Becker, and more Designing Women.
To recap, Designing Women returns to the line-up, while It's a Living, Dear John and Silver Spoons are off the schedule. Designing Women was airing on sister network Rewind TV. TV Marathons on Labor Day 2022
Happy Labor Day! It's a holiday, so of course you turn to SitcomsOnline to see what marathons are on TV! TV Land gives us an Andy Griffith Show marathon from 12pm-8pm, after M*A*S*H from 9am-12pm. Comedy Central will have a The Office marathon again from 9am-12am. TBS has a Labor Day marathon of Friends from 11am-6pm with "labor" episodes of Phoebe and Rachel. American Dad! returns with an all-new season on TBS tonight, as we mentioned. FXX will air a marathon of Family Guy on Labor Day all-day from 9am-12am. Hogan's Heroes marathon is on Sundance TV in morning from 6am-9am only this year. Logo has a Bewitched marathon thru noon (mini-marathons of The Facts of Life & The Nanny after that). BET and VH-1 will also have mini marathons of their sitcoms such as Martin, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Wayans Bros. and Living Single.

Freeform's 31 Nights of Halloween 2022 Schedule; Sherman's Showcase Returns for Season 2 on IFC and AMC+
IFC's critical darling, Sherman's Showcase, is back with an all-new second season! Six brand new episodes of the Emmy®-winning variety series will return to IFC and AMC+ on Wednesday, October 26 at 10:30pm ET. Netflix Sitcom with Michelle Buteau Rounds Out Cast; HBO Max Renews Harley Quinn for Season 4
Two more stars have joined an upcoming Netflix comedy series: Tone Bell and Tasha Smith join Michelle Buteau in new series Survival of the Thickest, which centers on Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau). Black, plus-size and newly single (not by her choice!), Mavis unexpectedly finds herself having to rebuild her life as a struggling stylist. She's determined to not only survive but thrive with the support of her chosen family, a body-positive attitude, and a cute v-neck with some lip gloss. The scripted comedy is based on Buteau's acclaimed book of essays. Tone Bell will play Khalil, Mavis's bestie and first phone call since high school. He's a creative and talented artist who has always prided himself on making life choices that keep things simple, affordable (nothing wrong with clipping coupons!), and uncomplicated. But now in his very late 30s, he starts to question what really matters and if life is worth complicating for the right person. Tasha Smith will play Marley, an early 50's self-made millionaire. She's a woman of NYC status who always has a fresh luxury manicure and the best day and night serums money can buy (we love to see it!). She gives that Aries tell-it-like-it-is energy, but there's still an ever-present warm big sister vibe. She just wants the best for everybody, and she knows what the best is.
Linda Mendoza (Never Have I Ever, 30 Rock, Girs5Eva, Brooklyn 9-9) will direct the first two episodes of Survival of the Thickest. Linda most recently wrapped as executive producer and director of Harlem. The series is created by Buteau and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel and will be executive produced by A24 and Anne Hong from Mosaic. Sanchez-Witzel is also the showrunner for the series.
The critically-acclaimed Max Original adult-animated series Harley Quinn has been renewed for a fourth season, ahead of the season three finale on September 15. Sarah Peters (Workaholics, Master of None, Nathan For You), who has written on the series since season one and currently serves as consulting producer, will be elevated to executive producer and serve as showrunner for season four. In season three of the biting and uproarious adult animated comedy series, Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) wrap up their "Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour" and return to Gotham as the new power couple of DC villainy. Along with their ragtag crew – King Shark (Ron Funches), Clayface (Alan Tudyk), Frank the Plant (JB Smoove) - "Harlivy" strives to become the best version of themselves while also working towards Ivy's long desired plan of transforming Gotham into an Eden paradise. Antenna TV's Welcome Back to School Marathon; Apple TV+ Is Trying for More Comedy
Just in time for Labor Day, Antenna TV will celebrate the official end of summer with a "Welcome Back to School Marathon" on Monday, September 5 featuring some of the most memorable episodes of the 1970's hit comedy series Welcome Back, Kotter. Starting at 5am ET, go back to school with Gabe Kotter, portrayed by actor and comedian Gabe Kaplan, teaching misfit students at his alma mater. Episode highlights include "The Fight," "Kotter Makes Good," "Sweatwork," "Horshack vs. Carvelli," and "I'm Having Their Baby." Kaplan appeared five times on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and the marathon will include an expanded 90-minute episode of Johnny Carson's show at 10:00pm ET. The 24-hour marathon ends at 5:00am ET. Welcome Back, Kotter regularly airs Mon-Fri at 5pm ET | 2pm PT.
Apple TV+ announced that acclaimed comedy series Trying has been renewed for a fourth season ahead of its third season finale on Friday, September 2. The third season finds Nikki, played by BAFTA Award nominee Esther Smith, and Jason, played by SAG Award nominee Rafe Spall, waking up as new parents to two children they are still getting to know. Now they just have to keep hold of them, which proves to be trickier than they initially thought. Thrown straight into the parental deep end, Nikki and Jason's relationships with each other and with their nearest and dearest are tested as they desperately try to navigate the ups and downs of parenting - while hanging onto their kids, and their sanity. In addition to Smith and Spall, the cast includes Oliver Chris (as Freddy), Sian Brooke (as Karen), BAFTA Award winner Darren Boyd (as Scott) and Robyn Cara (as Jen).

Netflix's Blockbuster Gets Premiere Date; Teri Hatcher Returns to Hallmark
Netflix has announced a Thursday, November 3, 2022 premiere date for Blockbuster. 10 half-hour episodes will drop that day. Starring Randall Park as Timmy Yoon, Melissa Fumero as Eliza Walker, Tyler Alvarez as Carlos Herrera, Madeleine Arthur as Hannah Hadman, Olga Merediz as Connie Serrano, JB Smoove as Percy Scott, and Kamaia Fairburn as Kayla Scott from Creator / Executive Producer / Writer / Showrunner Vanessa Ramos (Superstore, Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Executive Producers: David Caspe, Jackie Clarke, John Davis, and John Fox also executive produce for Davis Entertainment. ABC Fall Preview Special Airs Sept. 14; Acapulco Returns in October on Apple TV+
Ahead of the anticipated debut of ABC's fall programming slate, the network and ABC's marketing team invites viewers to enjoy a preview of its primetime lineup, featuring an early look at new drama series Alaska Daily starring Oscar® winner Hilary Swank, as well as the latest addition to The Rookie franchise led by Niecy Nash-Betts, The Rookie: Feds. Plus, audiences can get a taste of what's coming up on some of their returning favorites, including Grey's Anatomy, as Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital welcomes a new batch of interns; Bachelor in Paradise, which hits the beach for another romance-filled fall debut; and seven-time Emmy®-nominated Abbott Elementary, among many others. Hosted by the cast of Home Economics (Topher Grace, Caitlin McGee, Jimmy Tatro, Karla Souza and Sasheer Zamata) ahead of their season three return, the ABC Fall Preview Special is set to air Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 8:30-9:00 p.m. EDT on ABC.
Apple TV+ announced that the second season of the global hit comedy series Acapulco, starring and executive produced by SAG-Award winner Eugenio Derbez, will return on Friday, October 21, 2022. The two-episode season premiere will be followed by a new episode every Friday. Season two picks up right on the heels of season one, telling the story of twenty-something Máximo Gallardo, whose dream comes true when he scores the job of a lifetime as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco, Las Colinas. In 1985, Máximo must contend with upheaval at the resort, unexpected problems at home and a new love interest who just might rival the girl of his dreams. Under Don Pablo's guidance, he sets his eyes on one day running the entire Las Colinas operation by becoming Diane’s right-hand man. Meanwhile, in present day, Older Máximo returns to Acapulco to make peace with the recent passing of Don Pablo, where he is forced to confront some unfinished business young Máximo left behind.

- As streaming media continues to overshadow broadcast networks, NBC is looking at potentially giving up on 10 PM and returning the hour back to affiliates as early as fall 2023, and they may not be the only one. (Variety)
- Whatever Floribama Shore is (we're being slightly sarcastic), MTV is done with it, presumably because the MTV lineup doesn't have enough time slots to air Ridiculousness. (Deadline)

A-List Stars Join Norman Lear 100th Birthday ABC Special; Joe Pesci Joins Pete Davidson in Peacock Comedy
Jennifer Aniston, Jimmy Kimmel, Amy Poehler and Octavia Spencer are set to appear and celebrate the iconic television pioneer Norman Lear in the upcoming special, Norman Lear: 100 Years of Music and Laughter, airing Thursday, Sept. 22 (9:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC and available the next day on Hulu. Honoring the life and legacy of the remarkable storyteller, activist and philanthropist Norman Lear, the one-night-only celebration features intimate conversations, special performances and surprise reunions that pay homage to the man behind some of television’s greatest stories in celebration of his 100th birthday.
Norman Lear is a television and film writer/producer whose dynamic career in Hollywood has encompassed both the Golden Age and Streaming Era. He served as executive producer to the critically acclaimed reimagining of One Day at a Time, which ran for four seasons and was the first Netflix series to be renewed for network television (PopTV and CBS). Lear executive produces and co-hosts Live in Front of a Studio Audience..., alongside Jimmy Kimmel. The series set record ratings for ABC and won the Emmy® for Outstanding Variety Special for two consecutive years.
Peacock announced that Academy Award-winner Joe Pesci (Goodfellas, The Irishman) will star in the new Pete Davidson comedy series Bupkis as Davidson's grandfather, which is written, starring and executive produced by Davidson. Pesci will star alongside previously announced Emmy Award-winner Edie Falco, who will play Davidson's mom. This is Pesci's first television series. Bupkis, a half-hour live action comedy, is a heightened, fictionalized version of Pete Davidson's real life. The series will combine grounded storytelling with absurd elements from the unfiltered and completely original worldview for which Pete is well known. Lorne Michaels will executive produce for Broadway Video, Judah Miller (Showrunner) and Dave Sirus are writing and executive producing alongside executive producers Andrew Singer and Erin David. Jason Orley will direct and co-executive produce. Series comes from Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Broadway Video.
