NBCUniversal Renews Access Hollywood Through 2026; Netflix Picks Up More of The Great Indian Kapil Show

NBCUniversal Syndication Studios has renewed Access Hollywood and its successful brand extension, the daily talk show Access Daily with Mario & Kit, through 2026 in national syndication. The studio has sold the iconic entertainment news tentpole to NBCUniversal Local’s NBC Owned Television Stations, along with leading station groups across the country, for two additional seasons. For the 2023-24 season, which is its 28th in broadcast syndication, Access Hollywood is averaging over 1.1 million viewers each day and ranks as one of the top entertainment news programs in syndication. Access Hollywood continues to deliver for its local station partners and ranks as a top entertainment news program among the key women 25-54 demographic in many of the top markets, including New York (WNBC), Chicago (WMAQ), Philadelphia (WCAU), Dallas (KXAS), Washington, D.C. (WRC) and San Francisco (KNTV). Access Digital reaches over 6.6 million organic followers and is a leader in short-form entertainment news with more than 1 billion views last year.

HBO Max Revives Gossip Girl; Mario Lopez Leaves Extra and Moves to Access Hollywood

Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media - and the landscape of New York itself - has changed in the intervening years. HBO Max (WarnerMedia's upcoming streaming service) will serve as the home of this new series. Casting and a premiere date has not been yet announced. This direct-to-series will have ten all-new one-hour episodes from Fake Empire and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios. Joshua Safran of Random Acts will executive produce, along with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage of Fake Empire; Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo of Alloy Entertainment.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 9, entertainment veteran Mario Lopez will join Kit Hoover and Scott Evans as host of both Access Hollywood and its daytime counterpart, Access Daily (formerly Access Live). In addition, Lopez has signed an overall development and producing deal for both scripted and alternative programming with Universal Television and Universal Television Alternative Studio. Access Hollywood currently in its 23rd season, is an Emmy Award-nominated, daily, half-hour, nationally syndicated entertainment news program. Hosted by Kit Hoover, along with Senior correspondent Scott Evans and correspondent Sibley Scoles, the show takes viewers behind the velvet ropes and on to the red carpet to deliver the hottest celebrity interviews and the biggest entertainment news stories in Hollywood. Access Live (soon to be Access Daily), currently in its ninth season, is a daily one-hour syndicated entertainment news talk show co-hosted by Kit Hoover and Scott Evans. The show features in-studio celebrity guests and breaks down the biggest entertainment, viral and feel-good moments from around the country, keeping viewers up to date on all things pop culture. Both shows tape from the Terrace Studios, adjacent to the Universal Studios lot, in Universal City, Calif.
