SitcomsOnline Digest: A Sequel to A Different World and Reboot for Scrubs?; Cartoon Network Shuts Down Website

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This week, we're learning about some reboots, a potential fourth season of Ted Lasso, the shutdown of the Cartoon Network website, and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB

  • We haven't had a lot of sequel/reboot news lately, but here's a new one: a sequel to A Different World is in the works at Netflix. (Deadline)
  • When asked about a Scrubs reboot, creator Bill Lawrence has responded by saying "we're definitely going to do it." (Screen Rant)
  • There could be a fourth season of Ted Lasso, but it's all in the hands of Jason Sudekis as to whether or not he wants to do it. (Deadline)
  • About a month or so ago, the websites for all of the Paramount cable networks mostly shutdown, scrubbing all of the content and leaving behind just a basic website with the schedule and where to find the channel on your local cable operator, but now, Cartoon Network has gone much further and shut their website down completely and not even offering a schedule, and instead redirecting people to subscribe to Max. (Variety)
  • That isn't quite all for Warner and their efforts to seemingly sunset their cartoon legacy, as they also announced late last week that the Boomerang streaming service is shutting down and merging into Max. (Variety)
  • Steve Martin was the first person that came to mind for many people for playing the role of vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz on Saturday Night Live, though he has reportedly (or perhaps he is bluffing) declined, stating that he is "not an impressionist." (NBC News)
  • We have our first look at Travis Kelce's new game show, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? (Deadline)
  • Hulu has a full slate of new programming for the fall. (SitcomsOnline)
