As Abishola begins studying for medical school, she offends Gloria with an insensitive comment about Gloria’s own journey of almost becoming a doctor. Also, Tunde schools a reluctant Bob on the art of home repair while helping to fix his dishwasher.

Ally and Paul's marriage is in crisis; Paul's obsessed by what happened but won't discuss it; an increasingly troubled Luke refuses to go to school; Leah and Alex make an announcement.

After the Johnson family discovers Harrison on a date, Paul decides to give Harrison some dating advice, which turns things upside down. Meanwhile, Alicia feels a little insecure after finding out all of her children go to Aunt Denise for advice instead of coming to her.

Miami, 1990s: After a devastating injury his freshman year, Dwayne strives to get his college football career back on track; as he fights for playing time, he wonders if big dreams and hard work are enough to get him to the NFL.
