SitcomsOnline Digest: America Ferrera Leaving Superstore; NBC Renews Several Dramas for Three Seasons

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! It's February 29th, a date that we only see once every 4 years (and we won't see another February 29th on a Saturday until 2048), and this week, we're hearing about a star leaving Superstore, a new cast member for Carol's Second Act, and lots of NBC renewals. Let's get going!

  • Superstore is coming back for a sixth season, but it seems that it will be without America Ferrera in the lead role. (CNN)
  • Kelsey Grammer has been cast in the season finale of Carol's Second Act and will recur in the series if it is renewed for a second season, although the last time Patricia Heaton and Kelsey Grammer had a series together, it did not work out so well. (Deadline)
  • NBC firmly stands behind their Chicago franchise series, giving all three of them a renewal for another three seasons. (Deadline)
  • Law & Order: SVU also got an additional three seasons, which will bring it up to 24 seasons. (Deadline)
  • It's hard to believe that it has been around for ten seasons, but Hawaii Five-0 is coming to an end after 240 episodes and 10 seasons. (UPI) 
  • Coronavirus has shut down production for the CBS reality show The Amazing Race. (NY Post)
  • AMC has picked up a comedy that alternates between single camera and multi camera. (SitcomsOnline)
