SitcomsOnline Digest: Fox Ready to Reboot Beverly Hills, 90210; Tubi Announces Acquisition of Series from NBCUniversal Library

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! It has sadly been a week of sitcom actor deaths, but we promise that not everything that we have this week is bad news. We do have some news of a reboot of Beverly Hills, 90210 as well as news of some new acquisitions of classic series by the free TV streaming service Tubi. Let's get going!

  • It's official, Fox is bringing back Beverly Hills, 90210, with many members of the original cast. (Variety)
  • Tubi, a free streaming service, has announced some acquisitions from NBCUniversal that will soon be added to the service, including Punky BrewsterThe A-Team, the original Magnum PI, and more. (Multichannel)
  • Actress Katherine Helmond, known for her roles of Jessica Tate on Soap, Mona Robinson on Who's the Boss?, and also had recurring roles on Coach and Everybody Loves Raymond, has died at age 89. (Deadline
  • Actor Nathaniel Taylor, known for his role of Rollo on Sanford & Son, has died at age 60. (Variety)
  • As if those two deaths aren't enough, Beverley Owen, who played the original Marilyn Munster in the first 13 episodes The Munsters, has also died at age 81. (USA Today)
  • The CW reboot of Dynasty is now losing its Alexis, as Nicolette Sheridan announced she is leaving the series. (Deadline)
  • It's hard to believe, but The Masked Singer has been a huge hit for Fox for some reason. (Variety)
  • Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been renewed for second season on NBC (and seventh season overall). (SitcomsOnline)

  • Decades is airing Police Woman all this weekend.
  • Good Girls returns for a second season Sunday night on NBC.
  • NBC has the season premiere of A.P. Bio on Thursday.
  • After airing a tribute to Peter Tork with two episodes of The Monkees last Sunday at 5 PM, the series will now remain on the MeTV lineup in that timeslot.

Colette and Gregg convince Vic to foster a dog and help him clean up his act to meet the dog rescuer Howie’s (Thomas Lennon) high standards. Meanwhile, Ceci tries to repay Barb by boosting Noa’s processing time, mainly by toning down his hotness.

St. Denis Medical - "Here a Righteous Woman Comes" (NBC, 8:00PM ET/PT)
Joyce hosts a ribbon-cutting for the birthing center; Matt and Serena take on an awkward assignment; Ron tries to knock out a quick physical before his fishing trip.
