Adam and Andi go to great lengths to secure a loan to fix an unexpected issue on their flip house. Also, Joe is enjoying hanging out with his nurse, Funches, and wants to find a way to get him to stay with him longer than planned. Ian Gomez guest stars as James, the loan officer at the bank, and Ron Funches returns as Funches, Joe’s home healthcare nurse.

When her high school reunion is held at William Penn, Lainey tries to hide her teaching job from old classmates, pulling a “Romy and Michele” lie with the help of Erica Goldberg (Hayley Orrantia) and CB. Corporate introduces a friendly step-tracking challenge between Cloud 9 branches, and Amy (America Ferrera), Jonah (Ben Feldman), and Dina (Lauren Ash) create a fake rivalry to inspire Store #1217’s laziest employees. But healthy competition gets increasingly chaotic when the fake rivalry becomes real.

Jack is offended when he discovers a local church received a sizable bequest from his dead mother and used it to by a Virgin Mary statue. In an attempt to get revenge, he ropes his students into helping him steal the statue. A visitor from Latvia causes Charles and Jake to investigate Nikolaj's family. Holt and Amy bring in famed forensic scientist Dr. Yee to help close a case for Rosa.

After Grace's (Debra Messing) dad, Martin (guest star Robert Klein), is rushed to the hospital with a bleeding ulcer, Grace is shocked when he refuses to take Will's (Eric McCormack) blood for a transfusion.
