SitcomsOnline Digest: Futurama Headed to Syfy; More American Dad to Arrive on DVD
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- Futurama had a rocky run when it aired on Fox, but it has thrived on cable since then, and now it will join the Syfy lineup next month in a non-exclusive deal. (AV Club)
- Mindy Kaling is already ready to move on to her next project after The Mindy Project, and this time, she is hoping to return home to NBC with a single-camera comedy called Champions. (Deadline)
- CBS All Access is developing their first sitcom, No Activity, which will star Tim Meadows. (Hollywood Reporter)
- ABC is developing a sitcom that is based upon the life (and starring) Trae Crowder, who is known for his persona as the "Liberal Redneck." (Deadline)
- It's never easy when a cast member leaves a series, but the Nickelodeon series Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, a comedy about a set of quadruplets, will either need to be canceled or they'll have to "Chuck Cunningham" Dicky, as Mace Coronel has chosen to leave the series. (TVLine)
- We assume Donald Trump will be getting up an hour earlier everyday soon, as Fox & Friends (his favorite TV show) will be expanded to an additional hour at 4 AM. (Hollywood Reporter)
- GSN will pay tribute to the late Monty Hall, host of Let's Make a Deal, in a marathon tomorrow. (SitcomsOnline)
HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
- American Dad will return to DVD on November 7, with American Dad - Volume 12. As has been the case for previous releases, it will be a MOD release.
TUESDAY (OCTOBER 10) HOME MEDIA RELEASES

- The Brady Bunch - A Very Brady Christmas (DVD, $14.98): The 1988 holiday reunion film of the classic family (complete with the fake Cindy) comes to DVD in this release.
- Dynasty - The Complete Series (DVD, $139.98): You definitely won't have time to binge watch the entire series before the debut of the new version on The CW (which won't matter anyway since it is a newly re-imagined one with a whole new cast), but you can get the original in one collection in this set.
- Everybody Hates Chris - The Complete Series (DVD, $33.98): The sitcom about Chris Rock's childhood that originally aired on UPN before moving to The CW comes to DVD in this release.
- Fraiser - Christmas Episodes (DVD, $16.99); The Honeymooners - Christmas Laughter (DVD, $16.99); Sabrina, the Teenage Witch - The Christmas Episodes (DVD, $13.99): These three separate releases, as their titles suggest, bring together Christmas episodes of these classic series.
