SitcomsOnline Digest: Arrested Development Fifth Season Closer to Reality; A Second Chance Possible for Girl Meets World?
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- It isn't set in ink yet, but it looks like Netflix could be bringing back Arrested Development for a fifth season, which would be 14 whole years after the debut of the first season. (Entertainment Weekly)
- Girl Meets World went from being an incredibly hyped reboot a few years ago to something that fans of Boy Meets World sort of forgot about after the first few episodes, but part of that was due to it airing on a channel that is targeted to tweens. Now, there is talk of a very slight possibility that the series get a new life with new episodes on Netflix. (Deadline)
- LA Law has been mentioned for a while now as a potential series to get a reboot, and that reboot may come as soon as next fall. (TV Guide)
- Meanwhile, another reboot is a little further from becoming a reality, but Queen Latifah is determined to bring back Living Single. (People)
- Mike Judge is returning to animation roots with Tales from the Tour Bus, an animated comedy series that just got an eight episode pickup on Cinemax. (Deadline)
- Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which is possible best known for the horrible ratings it gets, earned an honor this week that could either be looked at as good or bad, and that honor is that it became the lowest-rated TV show to ever be renewed by a network. But the renewal is actually much smarter choice for The CW than it may seem to the casual ratings observer. (Vox)
- It's very early into the run, so it is hard to tell if The Mick is a natural success or if Fox is just going above and beyond to make it succeed, but in any event, it has received additional episodes for the first season. (SitcomsOnline)
- The Golden Globe Awards were given out on Sunday, and here is a recap of the winners. (SitcomsOnline)
