SitcomsOnline Digest: NBC to Bring Late Night to Primetime for New Year's Eve; Candace Cameron Bure Leaves The View

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! As we're into the holiday season, there has been a slight slowdown in news, but we are hearing about NBC giving Seth Meyers a primetime special for New Year's Eve, news of Candace Cameron Bure leaving The View, and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
  • Carson Daly will be ringing in the new year on NBC as usual, but he'll have sort of a pre-show this year, as Seth Meyers brings Late Night to primetime with a star-studded New Year's Eve special. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • Candace Cameron Bure is the latest person to announce her exit from The View. (LA Times)
  • Joseph Mascolo, who was best known for his role of villain Stefano off and on over over a 34 year period on Days of Our Lives (as well as many appearances on classic TV series, particularly in the 1970s), died this week at age 87. (Variety)
  • William H. Macy is the bigger name and officially considered the star of Showtime's Shameless, but many who watch the show know that the plots and stories are often much more dependent upon Emmy Rosum's character Fiona, and now she not only wants equal pay to Macy, but actually more than his. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • "This is it, this is the trailer, the one you get, so go and have a ball," as Netflix has released the trailer for their reboot of the sitcom One Day at a Time. (SitcomsOnline)
