SitcomsOnline Digest: Looking at the Fall Sitcoms; Olsen Twins Not Coming to Full House Reboot

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This week, we have our own analysis of the fall sitcoms, disappointing news about how Fuller House will be a little less full, and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
  • The fall season is still about four months away, but we have our own analysis of the sitcoms for the fall season now. (SitcomsOnline
  • One of the big reasons that people watched Full House when it originally aired was because of the Olsen twins, but it looks like they won't be part of the Fuller House reboot. (Yahoo)
  • David Letterman ended his run on The Late Show this week, and Deadline has a look back at the 30 years of David Letterman, beginning with his (mostly forgotten) days as a daytime talk show host on NBC. (Deadline)
  • Speaking of Letterman, CBS has decided to take a less adventurous approach in replacing his show until Stephen Colbert comes in this fall, by replacing it with reruns of CBS dramas such as The Mentalist. (CNNMoney)
  • As hard as it is to believe given their lack of successful scripted series in past seasons, special events and sports have made NBC the number one network for adults 18-49 for the second season in a row. (Futon Critic
  • America's Funniest Home Videos will be getting a new host next season: Alfonso Ribeiro. (SitcomsOnline)

MAY 26 HOME MEDIA RELEASES
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00S4YGUSU/ref=nosim/happydaysonline5-20
  • The Nanny - The Complete Series (DVD, $149.99): Probably one of the most wanted series on DVD, it has had a rough time getting released as seasons sputtered out over the years from Sony. Now, Shout! Factory wraps up the entire series with one release.
  • Welcome Back, Kotter - The Complete Third Season (DVD, $29.93): For those who skipped on the complete series release, Shout! Factory has this release of the next-to-last season.
  • The Wonder Years - Season Three (DVD, $39.98): StarVista moves ahead with this "modern classic" on DVD for those who didn't purchase the complete series.

Who to Follow: Charles Shaughnessy (Twitter), "Actor/Entrepreneur. Husband, father, soccer fan. Host of Here's A Thought. Surrender to each moment:good or bad. Lean forward. Go Chelsea F.C."
Claim to Fame: The British actor is best known for his role on the soap opera Days of Our Lives, where he played Shane Donovan from 1984 until 1992 (and has made additional appearances beyond that, with the most recent one in 1993). But to sitcom fans, this is not at all who he is. Sitcom fans know him as Maxwell Sheffield from the CBS sitcom The Nanny, which ran for six seasons in the 90s on CBS. He was also reunited with Fran Drescher in 2005 a recurring role on her WB series Living with Fran. These days, you'll mostly find him in guest roles, most recently appearing on the now cancelled TBS series Sullivan & Son.
Pick of the Tweets: "21 years ago November, the very FIRST episode of The Nanny aired on television!" (January 9, 2015)
