SitcomsOnline Digest: VH1 Classic Celebrates SNL Anniversary with 19 Day Marathon; Dan Harmon Talks Season Six of Community; The Nanny Complete Series DVD News
- Saturday Night Live is 40 years old this year, and VH1 Classic is celebrating the series with a 19 day marathon (seven days longer than FXX's Every Simpsons Ever marathon) that will feature just over half of the episodes of the series. (Hollywood Reporter)
- We reported earlier this week that the sixth season of Community would debut on Yahoo! Screen in March, and Dan Harmon has comments on what will be different (or not so different) about this new season. (Deadline)
- It has been almost a year since NBC announced their NBC Playground, which is a contest for aspiring talents who wants to produce a NBC sitcom to get a chance to see their series on the air. Now, finalists have been announced. (Deadline)
- Eva Longoria could be appearing on NBC next season, as the network has given a 13 episode order to a single-camera sitcom starring Longoria, called Telenovela. (Hollywood Reporter)
HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
- If you're a sitcom fan, Shout! Factory is most likely doing some damage to your budget each and every month with their complete series releases. April is no exception, as they prepare to release The Nanny - The Complete Series.
- CBS will be releasing Frasier - The Complete Series on DVD for the very first time in a "complete series" form on April 7.
- Also on April 7, CBS will issue a new release of The Brady Bunch - The Complete Series, although it will not include the bonus disc that was included in the original release.
